  1. Let me just say how much I love the subtle acknowledging of the Oz lore by having the powerful witches perish by water. In this world they drowned, not melted, but still. I still love this show and I'm still baffled by the speed at which everyone seems to travel. I mean, everyone (except Dorothy and Lucas) is able to do travel jump-cuts. And the main couple simply walks. This cannot be good for Lucas' busted knee. He was seriously limping even more than in the episodes prior. Let the guy get some rest! Dorothy looked lovely as the new Mistress of the Eastern Wood. And I'm fully on board the Dorothy x Lucas ship. I may be seeing/over-interpreting things, but I have a feeling Sullivan, the Blade of Mistress East was in love with the witch. The way he dropped to his knees with resignation, when he learned she took her own life (half-truth, courtesy of Dorothy) kind of broke my heart. I also wonder how good is really Lucas with the sword - if he really doesn't remember much, muscle memory can get him only a short distance. Hopefully, we'll learn that soon enough. When Anna ensured the Wizard she won't spill his secret to Glinda... She planted a big fat seed of doubt in Frank. Now he realises that every member of his council is a spy for the Maiden of the Northern Light. I don't know if he was not expecting that. I, for sure, was. My heart broke for Tip, who learned the 'truth' about him/herself. And them there was Jack - stupid, naive and confused with feelings he was not supposed to feel. This couldn't have ended well. Since I know who Tip is supposed to be, the revelation was never a surprise to me. What is surprising, though, is the maturity with which the topic is tackled. There's little comedy that could have been there if taken by lesser writers. Every choice has dramatic consequences. You cannot just wish something like this 'ok', you cannot just kiss a girl into silence. Reality will hit you like a paved courtyard. Don't ruin that, show.
  2. It was most certainly a magic tornado and those do sneak up on you. ...Unless all tornados in Kansas tend to dump whatever they carry from Earth to Oz (which, in itself, is an interesting concept for a short story). A thing that puzzled me after rewatch: How did Glinda managed to travel from the North, gather East's body and come to the Emerald City in such a short time? Unless she secretly uses magic to zap around :)
  3. I thought that guy's name was Ollie :) (I also did a recap for a wiki on Emerald City and yes, it was hard! but fun.)
  4. It scares me how much thought I have been putting into this show. Didn't happen in a long time to me. Someone upthread said they wished it was on HBO, as it would have made it better - I disagree. On HBO Dorothy would have been subjected to attempted rape at least three times by now, we would have had more graphic violence and at least two additional sex scenes. Naturally, we can still have those as the series progresses, but I think it's well balanced currently with semi off-screen gore and covered-up sex in brothel. We don't need everything up-front to know what's going on. Another things that made me think up some theories concerns some of the characters: Lucas The clothes and the sword left intact at the foot of the cross seem strange to me, since - why would it be done? If he was a soldier taking part in the massacre, why no uniform? If he was a civilian, why the sword? A logical explanation would be that he was a deserter from the Wizard's army, perhaps had a family in Nimbo and that's why he was punished in this way - crucified with a great view of burning village. Which, naturally, does not mean he doesn't have a violent streak. He definitely has PTSD. I'm also wondering if smashing Mombi's head in was not an instinctive thing, deeply rooted in a former Wizard's guard: a witch is a powerful creature, only a witch can kill a witch. So if you happen to seriously wound one, make sure to at least immobilize her for good. And putting a hole in her think-box seems like a good idea, if cold. Also, I hope Eammon will know him from the good old soldiering days. Dorothy I understand that her fear of commitment may not go hand with the nurse profession, but on the other hand - her patients are all but permanent. In this line of work one quickly learns that people come and go, and that a good deal of those people will die. Some on your watch. If you get attached, you'll just feel it more. I think Dorothy set up a wall to protect herself. She only let her aunt and uncle in, to some extent. She didn't let that Ollie doctor guy in yet. And in Oz, she involuntary started to let Lucas in - and got stung hard, once she saw what he's capable of. So the walls are up again.
  5. Count me in among those who liked it and can remember plot points :) True, it can be convoluted and requires attention at points, but it doesn't bother me at all. It's also beautifully shot and well acted, even if some performances are - deliberately - over the top. I read some reviews stating that the characters are not well developed. I don't know about that, I remember GoT had similar amount of exposition and world building. At this moment, this is the Land of Oz I both know and discover at the same time. Which is neat. I already have some theories about the Beast Forever, wonder if Karen Chapel was/is Mother South and ship Dorothy and Lucas. Also, Toto is cute. Things I liked most in no particular order: West outing one of Wizard's handmaidens as being pregnant. And then outing the father. The funeral dance and song number The fact that handguns can be deadly to a witch (was it a loophole or is Dorothy a witch?) Glinda's cool in front of the Wizard Tip and Jack, 'nuff said Lucas the person in general and as a concept of amnesiac psycho "The lions did that" The fact that Dorothy is capable and not whinny Looking forward to the next weeks. I wish it was a Netflix show so I could binge watch it.
  6. They were indulging themselves in his emotions, feelings and sensations his body felt when he was consuming alcohol and sweets. Unhealthy substances that would cause their bodies to look like his (eventually), but this way they can experience all that via proxy.
  7. I'm loving this show more and more, big plot holes and idiot balls being thrown around notwithstanding! Rittenhouse Original, what a sleazy bad-guy! Complete with 'bring her to my bedchamber' line. Too bad he wasn't around longer. I would love to have him for a two-parter. The things that make me go 'hmmmm': couldn't Lucy just drop like a dead lump to the ground and force Flynn into dragging her / or carrying her / instead of trotting reluctantly in his wake? I mean yes, there was a risk he would shoot her, but on the other hand, he's still surprisingly non-aggressive towards her. It could work. Wyatt needs to teach the team some basic self-defense. Kick to the groin? Something, anything! - - - Anyhow, looking forward to next episode. I want the boys to be back ready to search for Lucy and the guys at the headquarters asking: "Who's Lucy?"
  8. I saw the clock, I though Rambaldi. Anyhow, I actually loved this episode to pieces. I watched it twice, which is something for me. I always liked Wyatt, and I am a shameless shipper (Olicity 4ever!) so this was just what I liked, neatly tied with a bow. Thank you, writers. Also, Bonnie was wonderful. The team does not fail that often. True, they fail to catch / kill Flynn, but they usually manage to avid major derailment of history.
  9. I'd say there are other ways to make Bonnie emit the noises she did that do not involve a certain male organ :)
  10. The Ben actor reminds me of Oscar Isaac a lot. I like the premise so far, the little things the most: a motorcycle-lift, the Canadian fence, the bacon. I concur, Ben's wife seems one of the most interesting characters so far.
  11. The music had all the chords of "I am the Doctor" from Doctor Who. Also, Flynn's speech reminded me of what 11th Doctor would say, especially in 11th Hour, his first episode :) For those WHO are interested in what I'm rambling about :) <- will take you to YouTube. The part with the music starts at 1:20.
  12. That's the thing that's been bothering me... I preferred S1 set-up, with Rhodes getting more screen time. I don't care much for Halstead, his longing looks after Manning and money drama. I appreciate he learned from previous mistakes and acts more reasonably now. But I still don't like him - I tolerate him. He's like a work colleague you had to have good relations with, but would not like to go for drinks afterwards. Rhodes, on the other hand... It's funny, because it seems to me the writers are trying to insert flaws into Connor's character: he's getting more sloppy in diagnosis, he butts heads with Dr Charles. Yet, I still like him. I really wish we'd get more of him in the episodes. (Him, Choi and Reese are the characters I come back for)
  13. Perhaps Anthony instructed Flynn how to fly the time machine? The new version may be more intuitive than the lifeboat only Rufus knows how to fly. That would explain why Flynn was able to land in 1972. Also, Anthony was nowhere to be seen. They should have added a question from Rufus about it, drop just two lines to clarify. Maybe they did and it was cut. Anyhow, liked the episode. I'm still in the minority that likes Wyatt (and is not ashamed of that).
  14. I'm holding hope that Dr Charles' strange behavior is somehow connected to an illness that will be revealed soon. A tumor? A psychic disorder? Unfortunately, most probably just bad writing. When April realized she is pregnant, I remembered what my doctor told me when I had TB - remember, the birth control won't work. Use condom. So when Halstead said "no one could predict that, April" I rolled my eyes. Duh! You should have predicted that and so should have April, it's a common medical knowledge (unless only my doctor knew that - nah).
  15. When Philip said: "What kind of marriage is this, what kind of family? You've taken my career from me, you've taken my home, you've taken my name..." I thought - 'Well, it's been like this for a lot of women getting married'. Just a side though.
  16. I admit, I was not paying 100% attention to what was going on in this episode and at one point I thought Felicity was talking to a middle-aged lady - when I looked at the screen, I saw the lady had a beard and was Mayo. Like some of you above, I concur that Human Target would have made a better Felicity-boyfriend than the vanilla detective. (Frankly, I still don't get it why Olicity broke up. Really. I was not paying much attention back then as well, I guess.)
  17. Timeless gets a "full season". I don't know since when 16-episode run is called a "full season", but... Edit: this info already was posted in the 'Ratings' thread :) Sorry for doubling that up.
  18. So she's kind of Vesper Lynd. Who was inspired by a Polish spy whom Fleming met: Krystyna Skarbek. And Lucy inspired a Lucy in a different book.
  19. The motive was not explicitly stated, but it was mentioned the guy had a sexual assault charge lifted once. But truth be told, we were not given enough data on that one. I like Weatherly, I really do. Ever since the Dark Angel days. But I need more to this character than being a smug, super-intelligent guy who likes helping people. Does he have flaws? Is his main flaw his smugness? Show me the ex-wife! Let him be wrong about something major!
  20. I think they're starting to get their stride - it sort of reminds me of the first season of Agents of SHIELD, when I found the characters boring and bland, up till a certain twist. I don't find these characters boring, but I'm waiting for a twist, for something to uproot the cadence. Lucy needs to start working against Rittenhouse eventually. Maybe Flynn dies in mid-season finale and Lucy goes on to continue his work? I am weak when it comes to tv romance, I'm already looking for signs between Lucy/Wyatt. I believe the green-eyed monsterism he had this episode was rather subconscious on his part. But Rufus was teasing him. It's weird to notice a lot of humour in an episode with the Nazis, but - there it was. The funniest episode to me till now. Loved the rapport the team had and Wyatt's fanboying over Flemming.
  21. I'm ok with all three main characters. I like their dynamics and dumb decisions. I still believe there's a hidden agenda behind who was picked to join the team and that Wyatt was not the actual best there is, but has been picked to screw things up eventually. Rittenhouse knows the future and designed the team to make it happen - whatever "it" may be. Long story short: I think Lucy was not picked because she was the best historian available, but because she will write the memoir Flynn will use/is using now. Wyatt was picked because he is likely to screw things up with his wife-obsession and can't take Flynn in a one-on-one fight. Rufus already spies on the two and is the only pilot available. Theory: There is another mole in the organisation and mid-season finale will address that.
  22. This is just my pace: uber arch of mystery + small crumbs of adventures, scattered along the way. We have been spoiled by Netflix and want it all at once, but I keep telling myself that patience is a good thing. As long as the pay-off is worth it (here's looking at you, LOST). - - - What makes me wonder this episode: Walter, the milk-drinking homicidal host. We saw him decommissioned in the Pilot, this time he was along for the ride to victimize Dolores. Is it another model with his face? Was it another timeline? Bulletproof Cultists Are they guests or are they hosts programmed by Ford not to take bullet wounds too seriously? Having guests roam wild like that, armed with knifes and axes is dangerous to other guests, so I'm thinking Ford-programmed hosts. The old man is up to something. Also, I believe Teddy's not dead - he may be strung up a tree like those previous cult victims we've seen before. Someone may find him next episode :) Timeline itself How is Dolores able to leave her storyline to have a chat with Bernard and then come back? Battery life Are hosts running on batteries? Was Dolores so exhausted at the end, because her battery was running low and needed recharging, or was that just because she was physically and psychologically exhausted? Do hosts eat or drink? Business model It seems that some guests stay for longer periods, some come in just for a day. Maybe you can buy a package of 1-day / 5-day experience? Most hosts run on 1-day stories (like Dolores and Teddy), but some have larger arcs (like Rodrigo Santoro's character from the Pilot). So, the richer the guests, the better the experience (even if some of the days are repetitive). I can easily imagine a twisted guest who spends a week in Sweetwater and rapes Dolores night after night. It's terrible that her sole purpose in the narrative seems to that - to be the gunslinger's girlfriend whom the guests can harass.
