  1. It's kind of like the Bert Ford storyline in Season 1. Bert Ford was the abusive partner of Harry Polson's sister, Eve Walker. He's the one Roy and Sara weighted down and sank in the pond after Eve's son Tristan killed him when he caught Bert assaulting his mother.
  2. Or she could start wondering about why they left. I think that maybe Matt's son and the child's mother are dead. He knows they're dead because he saw them die. He has never been able to accept it because he feels guilty because he thinks he could have prevented it and didn't. So he's come up with this defense/escape mechanism where they are alive, but "disappeared." He may even have blanked it out but it all came back when Olivia told him about Georgie. I also think he has issues stemming from his childhood and his relationship with his father. Have they ever said why Sarah left Australia? Was she already a nurse then?
  3. More speculation on how the Georgie situation is going to play out:
  4. My other take on Matt's baby mama is that she was someone he met when he got back from the war. She left because he showed no indication of getting a job and/or marrying her. I wonder if Douglas knew he had a grandson. I don't think George is meant to be a strong masculine character. He's meant to play off of Elizabeth and Sara.
  5. George has elf ears. I've been watching some older Australian shows on HULU that he has guest starred in, and that's like the first thing I notice about him - his elf ears.
  6. FWIW, regarding Matt, I think his son's mother is someone he met overseas during the war and brought back to Australia, maybe someone from the South Pacific or an Asian woman. ITA I don't see Henry and Anna getting married. I do think he will be acknowledged as the father though.
  7. This is more of a speculation than a spoiler, but since not everyone has access to Season 6 yet,
  8. Acorn posted a schedule for the show as far as October 1. They will be showing Episodes 1 and 2 on August 31, and then starting September 10, we'll get a new episode every Monday. It looks like we'll be about a week behind Australia.
  9. That was one of the reasons everyone was so eager to have Princess May of Teck marry Prince Albert Victor, Duke of Clarence and Avondale and the eldest son of the Prince of Wales. She was serious, intelligent and mature in a way Bertie and Alexandra's children were not. Then, of course, after Eddy died, they made sure she married his younger brother George.
  10. I hope they do something about the time she and Mark Phillips were almost kidnapped by IRA terrorists. Or the time when she and Charles visited Washington D.C. and Nixon tried to set up Charles with Tricia.
  11. Both Jason Watkins and Alex Jennings are in the BBC drama series "A Very English Scandal" starring Hugh Grant and Ben Whishaw. It will be streaming on Amazon Prime on June 29. It's the best thing I've seen on TV all year.
  12. Four members of the "Victoria" cast are in the BBC series "A Very English Scandal" which will be streaming on Amazon Prime at the end of the month. It's a 3 part series about the trial of Jeremy Thorpe for conspiracy to murder a young man who had been his lover in the early 1960's. It's really good and absolutely hysterical despite the subject matter. Alex Jennings plays Peter Bessell who was a friend of Thorpe. The other 3 have somewhat smaller roles: Eve Myles plays a friend of Norman Scott who is the intended victim, the actress who played Lady Flora Hastings plays Jeremy Thorpe's first wife and David Bamber plays an eccentric lord who is obsessed with badgers.
  13. The BBC started airing their 3 part series "A Very English Scandal" about Jeremy Thorpe starring Hugh Grant and Ben Whishaw. Also in the cast is Alex Jennings although he's not playing royalty this time. I imagine this will turn up on either PBS or one of the streaming services eventually.
  14. I think the reason Phyllis was willing to finish off the 23rd Psalm for Tom but declined to pray with Lucille is that the former was more about words of comfort while the latter was about requesting something from a God she does not believe in.
  15. Actually the Dowager Countess of Grantham would have been in her late 70's/early to mid 80's at Mary's second wedding. She met that Russian prince when she and her husband went to Russia for the wedding of Prince Alfred (The Duke of Edinburgh, later The Duke of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha) and Grand Duchess Maria Alexandrovna, the daughter of Tsar Alexander II in 1874. We know she had 2 young children then so she was probably in her late 20's/early 30's. That would have made her birth year somewhere around 1842- 1846. Getting back on topic, I follow the Call the Midwife tag on Tumblr, and there are quite a few people who think Valerie and Lucille are lesbians and will be a couple soon if they aren't already.
  16. According to Jack Ashton, the scenes with Barbara dying were done around the time Helen had their baby, so he was already in a very emotional state.
  17. The singer from the 1940's was Dorothy Dandridge who was married to Harold Nicholas of The Nicholas Brothers.
  18. Regarding Christopher, my take is that he's moved back into the family home, but he and his ex are pretty much living separate lives except for meals and other family activities with Alexandra.
  19. Not a nun or a midwife, but I was just watching the second episode of Season 6 of "Downton Abbey." I thought the guy who was interviewing Thomas looked familiar. And yep, it's the same guy who is playing Sergeant Woolf now.
  20. I'm putting this in spoilers in case people haven't seen Series 5 yet
  21. Series 6 will be the final series for "A Place to Call Home." It will start airing in August and will run for 10 episodes.
  22. FWIW, someone on a "Call The Midwife" aftershow podcast said that Heidi Thomas said she is not killing off any major characters this series. So maybe there is going to be some kind of "miracle" cure, or if Charlotte Ritchie is leaving the show, maybe she is being put in some kind of care home.
