  1. So ... shouldn't the subject of this episode REALLY have been "the woman in Texas"? Why wasn't she named? Why wasn't she interviewed? Why didn't they immediately fly from Canadian wastelands to Texas wastelands, and parachute into her backyard to knock knock on her door and say "wassup?" like they do to all the other catfishers? * thought the husband came across as likeable and making the best of an odd situation. The mother came across as selfish and self-absorbed, and Shelly as irremediably wounded by the experience of having no human contact except her mother and online gaming. She's either mentally stunted or possibly stoned ... valium or marijuana or both.
  2. The only reason it's harder is because she chose to forego learning any job skills in favor of sponging off others. And having bastard babies.
  3. I wonder how the parental units reacted to this national display of character by their darling boy and his behavior the last four years. In 20 years, Brandon will still be living in TeenyTown, Washington, probably driving a truck like dear old daddy because that's all the unskilled jobs left in that part of the world. He may be on disability but it won't be work-related; possibly injured in a drunk driving accident. He'll have been divorced 2 or 3 times because his various wife(s) caught him cheating, he'll have 5 or 6 kids and will supposed to be paying child support, but won't be because his budget won't stretch to cover child support and buying beer. Karece will have graduated from college, and be working in a big city (Seattle?) in a pink collar job. A chunk of her salary will go towards therapy sessions, and an on-going budget item will be weekly meetings of Weight Watchers and/or Jenny Craig and/or organic kale salad. I just don't see a happy ending for either of them, and I think Ma and Pa of Brandon are going to be equally unhappy for the next several bits. So sad, too bad.
  4. I wanted to stand up and cheer when Max said, "I won't let her." What a celebration of protective manhood, after SJWs and feminists have done their very best to demonize both men and white people the past 8 years. You know, logically, that Max doesn't really have the authority to tell any of the idjut Catfishees what they can or can't do, but just him going mano-a-mano with poor little Marcus was so refreshing, natural and instinctive. I also thought Marcus' offended "no!" reaction to being told he needed "help" was instructive. The house he lived in reeked of Norman and the Bates Motel. I bet the Dallas police have a file on him, and surrounding elementary schools have restraining orders against him. Frankly, just between you and me, I didn't think Ari was any great catch either, but the wonderful thing about this show is what an honest portrait of the great American public it presents. All existing in lives of "quiet desperation" ... except Max.
