  1. I'm okay with the final 3, but it would have been interesting to see how Chris would do in a full season. I absolutely love Tom. As long as he is hosting, I will watch no matter who the contestants are. What was the point of the mentors? They were pretty much useless, and Von wasn't even there. Glad Mirai is gone, especially after how she was acting/talking tonight. Preferred Josh's contemporary over Adam's, but YMMV. Surprised he didn't get at least one 10.
  2. Ok, second round... Was better than the first. Gabby-Did a good job on an incredibly difficult song. Cade-Why did he wait until tonight to let us hear how he can sing without the growl? This was the best I've heard from him, imo, but it was still his time to go. Michael-Why was he the only one to read his own letter, rather than letting his mom read it like the others did? Better than the first performance, but still not good enough to stay. Caleb-That boy is country to the bone, and I love it. Lionel (and Luke, at some point I think) called it when he said that Caleb has an immediately identifiable voice. Maddie-Interesting that she got the "pimp spot" twice, is she now the chosen one? Good job on the song, and I liked that we could see her emotions come through. Luke not being able to let go of his mom, and how he kept hugging her gave me all the feels! America, in my opinion, got the top three right. I hope that either Caleb or Maddie wins, but regardless of what happens next week, I think they will both have careers/find their niche in the music industry.
  3. Again, watching on Hulu, so I am pausing after the first round this time to give first round thoughts... First, the judges said they were going to give harder critiques, but then they did the same thing they always do, which is to not really give any helpful critiques, <eye roll>. Second, Cade and Michael can both be gone right now, please. Third, all that drama about Carrie's injury and scar, but I can't see why it was such a big deal-you can't even see it. Now, for the actual performances... Michael-As I said above, he should be gone tonight. I just can't anymore with his enunciation issues. Gabby-Holy crap, she looks like Carrie Jr., but I didn't really care for her rendition of the song. Cade-For the first time, I thought his vocals weren't bad, but it's still time for him to go. Caleb-As much as I like him, I didn't care for this performance. Maddie-As with Caleb, I really like her, but not her best work. Man, I sound really negative and snarky, but none of them wowed me with the first performance tonight. Hopefully the second round is better!
  4. And then she dances in a skin-tight costume?
  5. If Chris had been gone tonight, I would have been upset! Jennie should be one of the ones to go next week. As for the other two to leave next week, it's anybody's game, but my favorites so far are Josh and Chris.
  6. First round thoughts... Josh-He has what I am calling the "Rashad Factor". He's got charisma, he's fun to watch, he dances well, and I can see him winning this season. Jennie-I'm wondering what the original song was. She wasn't horrible, but I was kind of "meh" about the performance. Kareem-Clever choreography by Lindsay, but he should be gone after tonight, he just isn't any where near as good as the rest of the contestants. Chris-I think he is the dark horse of the season. I really enjoy watching his dances, and can see him taking the trophy as well. Tonya-Is proving to be a competent dancer, and I hope that people give her a chance, but I don't see her winning in this field with the others who are also proving to be pretty good dancers. Marai-I absolutely hate It's a Small World-it's the ear-worm to end all ear-worms for me-but her dance was beautiful. Arike-I didn't see what Len saw, I thought she stood in place quite a bit and let Gleb do the dancing. Would not be upset to see her leave tonight. Adam-I don't particularly like him, but I can't argue with his dancing ability. Now to watch the team dances and eliminations.
  7. Yep, I noticed and wondered as well.
  8. Watching on Hulu, but paused before the results so I could get my thoughts down before I know what happens... Jurnee-Still leaves me cold, and what was with the picture of the eyes in the background on her second song? Gabby-I didn't care much for her first song, but I liked her second song. Cade-I'm over him. Tonight he showed how much his actual singing voice is lacking. Michael-Tonight showcased, once again, his lack of enunciation. He can't even say "you" correctly, and it was distracting. Caleb-I can really see him making it on the country scene. When I heard that he was doing When Doves Cry, I was a little scared, but it turned out incredible, IMO. Catie-Did not have a good night. I wasn't really impressed with her Britney song, and then she forgot the lyrics to her second song. And what was Luke talking about? She forgot the lyrics in her group round, too, if I am remembering correctly. Maddie-Great job on both songs. Lionel is right, whatever happens on this show, I think she has a career in music. I hope Maddie and Caleb are the top two, but I admit that my tastes are not necessarily in line with what other people like. My picks for the two to leave tonight are Jurnee and either Cade or Catie, But going on past predictions, I know I'm probably bound to be disappointed. Now to watch the results...
  9. I am only halfway through, but Holy Cow, this show is great!
  10. I like dark horses, too. I'm still kind of bitter about James Hinchcliffe not winning. Thank you!
  11. First, a couple of things about Alan. During the opening, when they were showing everyone, I wished he would move his hand a little lower on Mirai's waist. Second, has he had throat/neck surgery? When he was talking to Erin at the end it looked like there was a scar on his neck. On to the dances... Chris-Pleasantly surprised, I don't know anything about him, but found myself pulling for him. Kareem-Reminds me of Billy Dee Williams when he was on, mostly just stand there and let people dance around you. He should have been eliminated. Jennie-Finally Keo gets a non-crazy person (other than Jodie). That being said, I still feel he makes it more about his dance skills rather than what he can do to help his partner. She wasn't horrible, but she wasn't memorable, either. Jamie-I feel bad for Artem, but her dance wasn't anything to write home about. I'm okay with her being eliminated. Mirai-Over-the-top kind of annoying, but she danced well. Arike-Put on those heels, girl! Also, quit hunching your shoulders. I would not have been upset if she left tonight. I don't see her making it to the end. Adam-Does he have to start everything with "I was the first openly gay blah, blah, blah"? I really couldn't care less about that, just dance. Not bad, but he was extremely annoying to me. Johnny-Flashbacks of David Ross with the baseball bat intro. I found his dance to be not great, but well done/entertaining enough for me to have wanted to see him stick around another week. Jennie or Kareem could have gone instead of him. Tonya-For goodness' sake, people, she has paid a higher price than some people have paid for murder. It's time to give her a chance. I thought she danced well, and deserved to stay. Josh-I don't follow football, so I have never heard of him. Can somebody tell me if he is just really cocky, or is he as good as he says he is? That being said, I enjoyed his dance.
  12. One more thing--I love Disney, and it irritated me that there were some incorrect lyrics sung tonight.
  13. Katy needs to stop, she is cringy! Luke's name tag said Dopey, lol! I didn't think too much of the D-Capella's. They get a D. Maddie-I didn't pay too much attention to her before, but now I feel like I could listen to her all day. Jurnee-I still don't feel like she's connecting to the audience very well. Cade-Somebody tell him to stand up straight, I wanted to reach through my computer and adjust his microphone. This song was his nail in the coffin for me. Enunciation is important. Adam/Ava-I'm done with his schtick, it's beyond tiresome now. Michelle-I listened to the beginning of her song, then ff'd. She needs to be gone. Gabby-Again, I listened to the beginning, then ff'd. I just couldn't listen to the over-the-top fake twang anymore. Michael-He does have an incredible voice, but this wasn't my favorite performance of his. When Idina told him to stop swaying, I was thinking "I don't think he can", which is one of the reasons I think he's on the spectrum. Caleb-Another person I think I could listen to all day. I agree with the judges, this was a great song choice for him. Catie-OMG-Idina's face when Catie said her thighs were sweating, haha! Singing-wise, though, not bad. Dennis-Way to end the night, great job! The three that I would like to see gone tonight are Michelle, Ada/m, and either Cade or Gabby. Well, I got 2/3 of my wish. Sad to see Dennis go. Yay, finally! I found that interesting as well. Ada was also never around for rehearsals.
  14. I'm pretty sure he was telling Garrett that Katy has a lot of influence in the decisions.
  15. I think he's great, too. It's his mannerisms that make me think he's on the spectrum. If you didn't see Caleb's audition, then you might not get it, but he has been working hard to get in shape and it's definitely showing.
  16. Yeah, that was weird. I had included her, but then somehow I edited it out without realizing it which is why I couldn't figure out who I missed. Oops. If that's a reference to my post, I had written something about her, but it somehow got erased without me realizing it. Therefore, in my mind I had already included her. :)
  17. These aren't in order... Maddie-I'm glad she made it. She has a "girl next door" feel to her that is easy to listen to. Marcio-Looked like someone killed his dog throughout the whole show. I don't think he fought enough in his last performance to save his spot. He gave up. Cade-I guess they need a rocker, and he doesn't totally suck, so I'm okay with him going through. Michelle-Why, why, why?! I can't believe they chose her to go through. Ugh. Caleb-Holy cow, he is looking GOOD, and I could listen to him all day. He has definitely taken the heartththrob mantle away from Garrett and Jonny(who wasn't a heartthrob, anyway, IMO). Garrett-What the hell were those falsetto notes doing on a CCR song? No, thank you. Jonny-Shouldn't have gotten this far in the first place. Mara-I would have picked her over either Michelle or Ada. The girl has got some pipes on her. Dennis-Came out and killed it. He earned his save. Ada-I just can't with her. Jurnee-I love The Greatest Showman, but that is my least favorite song in the movie, and IMO she didn't perform it that well. However, based on previous performances I'm glad she got picked to go through. Michael-I really think that he is on the Autism spectrum. He has a great voice, but I find it hard to watch him. That being said, I think he deserved his spot in the top 10. Gabby-Just doesn't click for me. Catie-Looked like a school teacher. I do prefer toned-down Catie, and she does have a decent voice. I'm okay with her going through.
  18. I seriously thought that at the end Andy would walk into the house and find her dad dead.
  19. I'm hoping that Ada, Jonny, Garrett, and Catie leave tonight, but I know I'm going to be disappointed on that score. 100% agree!
  20. On a side note, I'm not as bothered by tattoos as I am by over-the-top drag.
  21. Why Garrett? I would have much rather seen Effie or Alyssa go through. Heck, even Shannon or Amelia would have been a better choice.
  22. Again, I am pausing the show so I can put my thoughts down before I know the results. Caleb-He has an instantly recognizable voice. I really like him, and I hope he makes it through. Ada-Great vocals, but I'm just not in her corner yet. Maddie-Nice job, but I'm not sure she's ready for the next phase yet after tonight. Ron-Bleh. He can go. I didn't think too much of his duet partner, either. Amelia-Another one with great vocals, but again, I'm just not feeling a connection with her. Shannon-I don't really care for the song, but she did a good job with it. Alyssa-Her voice is amazing, especially for her age, but I don't think this song did her any favors. I have never heard of Banners, but I really don't think I've been missing much. Marcio-Dang, tough break to have to deal with that situation at the last minute, but he dealt with it and had a great performance. I hope he makes it through. Jurnee-Wow, just wow. Garrett-Not the right song for him. That duet didn't work for me. He can go, too. Mara-That was a very emotional performance. I enjoyed it. Effie-Well, that explains the country thing. Holy crap, that was incredible! It makes me wonder, though, what would they do if the duet partner fell ill the night of/right before the performance? I have a definite 6 that I would like to see go through-Caleb, Alyssa, Mario, Jurnee, Mara, and Effie, although after last week I'm prepared to be disappointed.
