As soon as the stick cured Monroe I thought it was a branch of yggdrasill from Norse mythology. Or maybe I've just watched too much of The Almighty Johnsons.

My daughter saw that cheese was Humbolt Fog which is delicious (I buy it occasionally) and not cheap. Everything else looked good too; the only thing missing was a nice bottle of wine. So get rid of the "chaperone" and add wine and it's a good date in the real world.
