  1. Wow. I really don't understand the blow back on this board about this episode. I thought it was WONDERFUL! First of all, hilarious. But 2nd, with this JJ not graduating part. It TOTALLY makes sense! It's not lazy writing in the least! Lazy writing is letting him graduate! Complicated writing is writing yourself into a corner and you have to write yourself out of it, and that's what they've done here. I'm sorry but maybe you want JJ to be exceptional but he isn't! They've made it abundantly clear that he is an AVERAGE teenager, which means he messes up sometimes. He's really supposed to graduate high school after finally being in a mainstream school for only a year and missing some with surgeries and illnesses?? Come on. Be realistic. There are a lot of kids with special needs/disabilities that have to be held back a year. This ACTUALLY happens. And that's what's so awesome about the show. As funny as it is, it tries to give a somewhat realistic depiction of these FICTIONAL characters. 3rd, why is this FICTIONAL character of JJ showing more emotional maturity than some of you? He finally realizes that it's not a personal blight on him. He isn't ready for college and there's nothing wrong with it. He needs to cook a little more. 4th, it's a show! This is how they get us invested and to care. Lazy writing? Not at all. It's called 'drama'. 5th, I'm not sure why Kenneth wouldn't be able to go to college with him. Unless it's out of state, why wouldn't he need Kenneth? (for the rest of their lives?)
  2. I personally think you guys are getting a little clouded with mumbo-jumbo IEP this & certifications that. These Dimeo kids have jumped from school to school for many years. I think it's VERY believable for a kid who has a disability who's moved around in many many schools to be held back a year until he's actually ready to learn and live on his own in college. He may simply not be ready! As far fetched as some things can be about this show, this plot twist is VERY believable. Maya lying down for it, is another story. I'm sure Maya will be fighting with all her might to get him graduated! Kenneth is still my favorite! He makes me laugh and if I guffaw, it's always Kenneth related. I wish they didn't regulate him to just dj-ing the party. I need a solid actual plot for old Kenneth! What about his former life or his other interests?? Jimmy is boring and he gets plenty of plot lines. Where the hell are Kenneth's or Kenneth and JJ's??!!
  3. Watching an amazingly funny and touching episode like this one only makes me appreciate a weird episode like the last Halloween one. Such great writing. Such a great cast. This show deserves better fans. And better PR. It's just as good if not better than This Is Us. The performances are just as good! Fantastic! No Golden Globe nominations. No SAG nominations. Ridiculous. It deserves better.
  4. Wow. I got a chance to read the Speechless Facebook page, and the people are not too happy. They first were not too happy with the casting of The Bachelor (truth to be told, nor was I) & second they thought the subject matter was downright inappropriate & that maybe the show should be cancelled. First the casting of the bachelor guy was completely and totally UNNECESSARY. He brought NOTHING to the show. But with that point, he did not distract from the show. His role was not important enough. I sadly think this was a promotion ploy. I'm not sure our loved show is doing that well in the ratings. I hate that I NEVER see this show advertised ANYWHERE!l My 2nd point is did these Speechless complainers read the title of the episode?? It was called 'BIKINI UNIVERSITY!!! What were you expecting? Yes it's a family show but JJ is 17 and planning to go to college. Girls and parties and yes boobs are a part of a young heterosexual male's life. Where were you last year when he got DRUNK!? Shut up. 3rd point, more Kenneth. If you want your show to be funny, more Kenneth! Also Dylan is hysterical. Oh and more Kenneth.
  5. What a fantastic episode this was. Which only further pisses me off when remembering 'fans' disappointed in this year's Halloween episode. It's obvious that was just a super fun Kenneth dream ep! The writers on this show are sooo good. Now with SHIPPING and BRITISH INVASION it's more clear the show is back to it's regular genius-ness. Back to this week's, SO fantastic! Andrea and The Colonel were great additions. Loved seeing Maya rattled. Kenneth and his Dad's relationship was the best. 'YOU FOUND ME??!" I want to see their act! The Colonel and Lil Kenny??! LOL!
  6. Yeah, I think a lot of you are missing the point that all of this, ALL OF THIS was an interpretation of KENNETH'S dream/nightmare. From Maya defending JJ to no end, even when he's killing people, to making Kenneth skip and slap himself, to Dimeo's making him miss his party, to Kenneth thinking they would have old candy in their ducts (because they don't clean their house), to Ray and Dylan's incessant fighting, to the Dimeo's needing him to DUNK A BASKETBALL, to what he secretly thinks Jimmy and Maya want to kiss him! Haha! This was hysterical. This was a turn off your brain, but not too much because the jokes came fast, and just have fun show! Loved it.
  7. I laughed from beginning to end with this episode! Wow! Just hilarious. It was as though the writers felt like really flexing their weird funny muscles & saying 'This is how weird we can be. This is how funny this writers' room is.' Solid jokes after jokes. And how good is this cast? All of them make me laugh (Kyla's impression of Mason's Ray was so funny)but again the MVP is Cedric Yarbrough! From being the reluctant possessed aide to ALL of those brilliant Michael Jackson costumes/makeup (which he pulled off) to the put upon Jigsaw Master. Seriously, how does he make people laugh with a mask on. I truly was laughing at that guy. Best Halloween themed show I've ever seen, hands down!
  8. What a fantastic episode! So great to have these guys back! I said this last season but I still don't think Kenneth's character gets enough credit. Give Cedric Yarbrough an Emmy nomination for best supporting comedic actor now. He's always solid and always the funniest. Plus his passion he plays with JJ is palpable. Fantastic. His 'Brandy' song was so good, i've been humming it for the last few days!!! Stellar cast. But that Kenneth! lol.
  9. Hmm...the notion that Kenneth is working at the camp and gave JJ the info about the camp would mean that they were in cahoots about this. That was never shown or even implied. It looked like the camp idea genuinely came from JJ. And this is one of the many things I love about Kenneth's character, yes he is an aide but he's also JJ's advocate. He more than just communicates for JJ, he sticks up for him. Even against Maya. I hope we see more of this in the last episode.
  10. Yes! Finally! I've been wanting a Kenneth backstory for awhile now. That was pretty outstanding. Kenneth trying to get JJ into his apartment was so damn good. lol. Emmy people! Are you watching this amazing show and in particular, Cedric Yarbrough!? His acting is always spot on. The difference when he's with JJ and when he isn't is palpable. JJ doesn't have that same dynamic with the other characters IMO. But I loved the pairing with Dylan. Great visually and really funny together. We haven't really seen them interact with each other this season. More importantly the explaination of his fall from grace and now wanting to connect with people and not be such a competitive hot head makes more sense now. Btw, I don't think Mya gets it yet. Her last words in the episode were "Can I give you what you need or what?" She still thinks she's the answer to his problems. I think JJ's fight for independence still lives on. JJ or someone else will have to step in and tell Mya to cool it. Maybe my guy Kenneth will be that person?? Another fantastic episode. Any word on if it's getting a season 2?
  11. Loved this week's episode! JJ going to Kenneth's place??! Yes! Could we possibly be going inside Kenneth's jazzy home & finding out who the hell this caregiver is?? He's the heart of this show. Who is this guy who actually works a second job at a grocery store to care for this kid? I've been wanting a "Kenneth backstory" episode for a long time. I hope we get one this season I also noticed unfortunately that next week's episode is a repeat of SLED HOCKEY!? Assuming that this episode is a two parter, this is horrible planning by ABC to give us a re-run after an episode like this. Are they going to make us wait 2 more weeks after part 1???
  12. Another fun episode! I really like everyone in this show. One of my favorite lines was Jimmy's "....ahh....the rice!". lol. I'll say it again, the real 'heart' of this show is Kenneth. To secretly be working a second job so he can maintain working and being with JJ is the probably the coolest, sweetest things this show has shown and it was so completely understated. It was not heavy-handed at all. I think a lot of people missed it. But I really am starting to wonder who this character is. This guy has gone from being a groundskeeper (not janitor) and taking care of plants at a school to now making this kid with CP, cool & now a weekend grocery manager. Who is this guy? Why is he such a good person? We learned a tiny bit in the "THAN-Thanksgiving" episode but not much. I need a Kenneth origin episode please!!!
  13. I don't think Kenneth's 'sole purpose' is to be an attendant to JJ. He does way more than that. (btw, I have personal bias to Kenneth & particularly Cedric Yarbrough. I think he's the 'heart' of the show.) It wasn't Kenneth's fault that JJ was 'lost'. Jimmy put Ray in charge of JJ. A task that irked JJ. It was this that prompted JJ to leave and go it alone.
  14. Again, Kenneth was my favorite. Although the episode had a lot in it, I like that this show is trying to give us a lot in the 22mins of a given show. Kenneth (Cedric Yarbrough) is always the funniest and his acting is top notch. When can we start campaigning for best supporting actor for this guy?? Seriously. He really makes the duo of Kenneth and JJ shine. Although, I am starting to wonder where the character of Kenneth came from. Why is this 'groundskeeper' so good at being an aide? Where did he come from?? Loved Jimmy twerking on the wall, Maya's slump and eat line, and Ray's weird acceptance speech at the end. lololol..
  15. I've been reading the Speechless forums for awhile now. I love this show! It's charming in every way. But the heart of this show and I don't why no one hasn't said it before! It's so obviously Kenneth! Yeah, Jimmy is fine, but Kenneth! C'mon! This guy's personality is rubbing off on JJ in a positive way. And I think he's the funniest. I love this show!
