  1. Zach. I like her first dress better, too. The bolero was unnecessary for normal, non-fundie people, but the second dress is too close to Pnina for me.
  2. She would have been seventeen-ish. It was either Erin, or someone who looks and pounds plays a lot like her. Or I'm nuts. Back to Google I go... This says specifically that Erin played at the rehearsal, and it mentions piano music at the wedding but not who was guilty playing it. https://popculturecrime.medium.com/duggar-dysfunction-a-very-duggar-wedding-cd3e0c7e4d4c
  3. If Mullet front-hugged anyone while wearing the tin man dress, she'd put holes in them. Like Madonna falling face-down in the raft, in that old Far Side cartoon. Didn't Princess Erin punish play the piano at Smuggar's wedding?
  4. So does her sister. It's supposed to go all over, girls, not just on your arms. (I think it's the lighting.)
  5. The fake tan industry probably went into mourning when Jinger quit her butternut squash look. Good thing the Kardashians are still around to keep the industry afloat. It wouldn't work on anyone else, but it's hard to imagine her wearing any other wedding dress.
  6. Can we do a separate thread for non-Duggars? I think the Duggar snark will get lost with all the Bates snark and the other fundie snark. The Maxwells alone can fill a thread.
  7. Pentecostal/Assembly of God circles too. I knew some AoG men who went to Promise Keepers things in Kansas City. Not coincidentally, the AoG dad I knew was a creep and one of the people who put me off religion for good. I'm not the only person who thought he was molesting his daughters. Their mother thought so too. Topic: I feel sorry for Ofsmuggar in the sense that she no doubt thought if she did everything right, her life would just fall into place. I think it's fair to say her world is rocked.
  8. You can definitely tell when the TLC series money, as opposed to the specials, started kicking in. But I really do wonder sometimes if Ofsmuggar's parents didn't care for her much. She got the worst groom, and she didn't even get a dress of her own. David's Bridal doesn't cost that much, FFS. Note to future Duggarling brides: Jinger is the only one who wore her hair up, and she's also the only one who didn't look sloppy AF. Remember this. It's not a sin to put your hair up on your wedding day. I'm very profane today. I apologize to any who are offended by my sinful language.
  9. Best Overall Jinger (so far in the lead, she couldn't be caught) Claire (lovely, appropriate) Lauren (she lost points overall for the hair) Worst Overall, In No Particular Order Mullet (the infamous vow renewal with the awful, inappropriate bastardized Kleinfeld's dress) Joy (did she even brush her damn hair, and wasn't she barefoot?) Anna (crunchy perm time and her sister's too-short dress. Sometimes I wonder if her parents didn't like her) Jill (sloppy hair and ill-fitting dress, although I think she'd do much better now) Amy (holy gross cleavage, but she gets points for doing it even when the zillion Duggar males would be there) Popular but I Don't Get It Jessa's dress and overall look I don't really remember any of the food or decorations besides the Smuggar wedding (cold cuts and cheap cheese?). I haven't watched the shows since about 2013, so all my snark comes from here.
  10. I do think Jinger's wedding dress/hair/makeup was the best yet, closely followed by Lauren. As for decorations and such, yes, Claire got the best. Other than Nurie, who do you think had the worst wedding? I vote for Joy in that category.
  11. It's either that or shave their heads, and I doubt they'd consider bald melons appropriate for Christians, or some damn thing. Really, there isn't much they can do with their particular pattern baldness. The Duggars male, younger, are screwed. I wonder if Jim Bob gloats to them that he still has his helmet.
  12. "REAL, meaningful therapy" absolutely can take place between dropping kids off and posting on Instagram. That's how most people manage therapy -- with their daily activities. I managed therapy between work, school, and cat rescue volunteering. Would you be more sympathetic to Jill if she were posting photos of herself prostrate on the floor, howling, and kicking her hands and feet, rather than posting photos of her daily life as a wife and mother? Therapy isn't up for anyone else to judge.
  13. Brooklyn was super-trendy around the time Precious Miracle was born, IIRC. I don't know why Joe and Ofjoe chose the name for #3. There's already a Jackson in the Duggar family. Oh wait, it doesn't matter if they have two people with the same or almost the same name. It doesn't matter if they have FOUR people with the same or almost the same name.
  14. Wasn't Jinger the first to wear pants? She started on her honeymoon. When did Jill start?
  15. Duggar car lots are the kind that self-finance, charge 30% interest, and prey on the desperate (or truly stupid). Anybody with a choice or a brain would go to a real dealership. It was speculated here years ago that John David had the tow truck(s) so that he could repo the cars Smuggar had sold, at his original car lot, to the desperate or dumb. It certainly made sense.
  16. Are the rumors credible? Do they say why he's doing that, other than to be a dick? I agree with all those who have pointed out the difficulties of adjusting to life where operating on "Duggar Time" will get you fired and "we've always done it this way, we learned by watching others" won't fly (haha). I feel sorry for the Duggarlings. They're fucked, and I think some of them (Jessa, Josiah) might even know it. It would be easier to be dumb and vapid, than to be bright and know your parents screwed you for life.
  17. In the Zillion Kids and Moving In special, didn't Smuggar have his own room, too? (I swear I remember that.) It was the "editing studio" or some BS, but it was Smuggar's alone. Of course, his nine brothers got a big dorm room to share, and his five sisters, who did all the work and were raising the kids, got a smaller dorm that would clearly be too small very soon. There were times over the years when I thought Jim Bob didn't like Smuggar much, especially a few moments in the On the Road special when Jim Bob's tone on speaking to his son was odd. But there were many more times when it was clear that Smuggar was #1. I wonder if Jim Bob regrets that now.
  18. Good grief, did you see the kid on that nose?! I'm glad Joy has active, non-Duggarlike hobbies. It's something, anyway.
  19. My comment was a reference to a specific person. She lies even when it's in her own interest to tell the truth, and even when everyone she's speaking to knows she's lying. Also, Munchausen by proxy and cat hoarder. ETA: I hope Jill allows herself to a few minutes of smug. Not Smug as in her cockroach of a brother. Smug as in, "Look at me, craven parents. Look at my family. You told me I was just a uterus and slave."
  20. Thanks for the info. It didn't occur to me that there were (still) essays in the bar exam. I was thinking of someone I knew who took a professional exam (she's a neonatal nurse practitioner) and found out immediately that she passed, or so she said. She lies like a Duggar, so who knows for sure. That would be fantastic. The work part AND the F You, In-Laws part.
  21. I think there used to be a wait to find out if you passed (but I'm not a lawyer, nor do I play one on TV), but since everything is computerized now, he may found out right away.
  22. He may very well have changed his mind in the two and a half-three years since then. He may have realized that in his corner of the world, it's entirely possible to be a deeply conservative Christian and still have a "normal" day job. I'm not sure he really knew that before, since in Duggar World, it's apparently all or nothing. All: fundie and no job; nothing: sinner with a job.
  23. Honestly, I wonder what Story knows. Is he in on the alleged scams along with Jim Bob and Mullet? Are they paying him under the table so he doesn't have to declare X amount of income?
  24. That guy in the suit jacket makes Smuggar look svelte. Maybe Smugs can borrow some clothes from him for court.
