  1. Eight the Ramones album "Too Tough to Die" (1984). Slightly above mid album. As usual, the demo tracks are the best for me. Um, this album sounds kinda tame I guess for the most part, not as much punk as it used to sound in their previous albums...

  2. Seventh the Ramones album "Subterranean Jungle" (1983). An above average album, has its ups and downs. Since the previous album, I see Ramones started to experiment with length of songs, now there are a handful above 2 minutes, and even one that is more than 4 minutes long :D

  3. Well, I'm still reading (sporadic) War and Peace Volume 2, only now I'm at Part 3, and having finished Chapter 10 of Part 3. Um, a lot of things happened in the book, but... how do I say this... I don't remember anything from what I've read, because it was so dry and boring! God dammit.... Well, the last chapters that I've read dealt with Pjotr wanting to reform the Masons Lodge (because I think in Part 2 he was admitted as a member), but other members looking down upon him for his radical proposals. Anyways, he goes back (formally) to being a husband to... I like to say Ellen her name is, but I really do not remember..., but the last chapter that I've read was about his journal about Pjotr's dreams... and in it...

    Spoiler

well, let's just say that my previous observation about him "being a tongue-tied virgin around women" might be a little off, but also kinda true, considering that what I've gathered from the last chapter, that he is a closeted gay...

Anyways, seriously, Volume 2 will be the last issue of War and Peace that I will read. I just... it's so dull and boring...

    EDIT:

    Spoiler

oh, yeah, gay observations, I've mentioned them in May in this topic, it just that this chapter actually born credence to them...

Wait, is this the song that was recently - what seems in all the news - that it's a song that what English sounds to non-English speakers? LOL.

  5. Sixth the Ramones album "Pleasant Dreams" (1981). I'd say belongs to the category of one of their better albums, at least an 8 [yep, just counted the liked songs 8.9 out of 10], due to how modern it sounds (really is a product of the 80s; can't mistake that sound). Also, another song that I've heard of theirs in the past - Touring.

  6. Fifth the Ramones album "End of the Century" (1980). Another mid album of theirs IMO. The most enjoyable songs are the demos from track 14 to track 17.

  7. Fourth The Ramones album "Road to Ruin" (1978). OK, it seems that I have heard so far two of their songs before (Needles and Pins, and I Wanna Be Sedated). Also, best album of theirs IMO so far.

  8. Third Ramones album "Rocket to Russia" (1977). Came out the same year that their second did. Um, in comparison, not as good as the second one; also, I now know where that "bird is the word" come from...

  9. Started The Ramones discog. Self-titled album from 1976. Eh, mid album. Somewhere along the way, they forgot to play different chords and different progression, because I swear to god that from "I Wanna Sniff Some Glue" to "Havana Affair" (4 songs) it is the same f*cking song lol.

  10. So far, final and tenth album of Nightwish "Human II Nature" (2020). Yep, as I remember it, very very very tame in comparison to the rest of their catalogue. Hell, even Angels Fall First with its folkey music sounds whole lot more inspired than this...

As always, subjective assessments of each album:

    1. Angels Fall First (1997) - 9.4/10 [Best songs: Elvenpath; The Carpenter; Astral Romance; Tutankhamen; Know Why the Nightingale Sings; Return to the Sea; Nightwish - Demo]

    2. Oceanborn (1998) - 10/10 [Best songs: Passion and the Opera; Moondance; The Riddler; Walking in the Air; Sleeping Sun; Nightquest; Sleeping Sun – Live at Summer Breeze Open Air; Swanheart – Live; The Pharoah Sales to the Orion – Live]

    3. Wishmaster (2000) - 10/10 [Best songs: She Is My Sin; The Kinslayer; Come Cover Me; Wonderlust; Two For Tragedy; Wishmaster; Bare Grace Misery; Deep Silent Complete; Wonderlust – Live; Deep Silent Complete – Live]

    4. Century Child (2002) - 9.3/10 [Best songs: End of All Hope; Dead to the World; Slaying the Dreamer; Ocean Soul; Feel For You; Beauty of the Beast; The Wayfarer; Bless the Child – Radio Edit; Dead to the World – Live At Summer Breeze Open Air]

4.5. Over the Hills and Far Away (2002) - 6/10 [Best songs: Over the Hills And Far Away; 10th Man Down; The Kinslayer – Live; She Is My Sin – Live; Walking in the Air – Live; Wishmaster – Live]

    5. Once (2004) - 10/10 [Best songs: Dark Chest of Wonders; Planet Hell; Creek Mary’s Blood; The Siren; Dead Gardens; Romanticide; Ghost Love Score; Higher Than Hope]

    6. Dark Passion Play (2007) - 7.7/10 [Best songs: Bye, Bye, Beautiful; Cadence of Her Last Breath; For the Heart I Once Had; The Islander; Last of the Wilds; 7 Days to the Wolves; Meadows of Heaven]

    7. Imaginaerum (2011) - 7.7/10 [Best songs: Talkativi; Ghost River; I Want My Tears Back; Scaretale; Turn Loose the Mermaids; Rest Calm; The Crow, the Owl and the Dove; Last Ride of the Day]

    8. Endless Forms Most Beautiful (2015) - 10/10 [Best songs: Weak Fantasy; Elan; Yours An Empty Hope; Our Decades in the Sun; My Walden; Endless Forms Most Beautiful; Alpenglow; Greatest Show on Earth]

    9. Human II Nature (2020) - 7.6/10 [Best songs: Shoemaker; Harvest; How’s the Heart; Endlessness; All the Works the Adorn the World – The Blue; All the Works the Adorn the World – The Green; All the Works the Adorn the World – Moors; All the Works the Adorn the World – Aurorae; All the Works the Adorn the World – Quiet as the Snow; All the Works the Adorn the World – Ad Astra]

And, looking back at the scores I given, wow, even though I don't particularly care for songs in albums that received low scores (relatively), but it appears that I still give (baring Over the Hills LP album) a score not lower than 7, which is not quite frequent at all. I mean, something in the music of this band really elevates the hearing experience. I don't know. Kinda like with ABBA or something. But, yeah, I guess, I liked Tarja era the best.

    Average album score: 8.7/10

Wow,  I am not a Janet Jackson fan but I was curious so looked it up and you can get tickets anywhere in the stadium, except the very front floor section for about $40 US a ticket. I am seeing the indie band Spoon in September and my ticket was around that price.

Hmm, from what little I know from Internet browsing, I guess it's pretty cheap for USA's standards, no?

Never actually listened to Pearl Jam songs, but now I understand all those jokes about not understanding what the feck the vocalist of that band is singing lol

Anyways, ninth Nightwish album "Endless Forms Most Beautiful" (2015). And, now, I enter Floor Jansen era of the band. Um, playing back to back, I find no faults with this album at all. It's actually as good as any Tarja era albums for me.

  13. Sixth Nightwish album "Dark Passion Play" (2007). And, now, I enter Annette's era in the band. Yep, as I remember it, pretty subpar [for this band]. Almost no melodic riffs (or at least riffs that would stand out), standard rhythm, standard vocals etc. until the ending portion (then it picks up). You know, the opposite of what were the first five albums. At least two memorable things came out from this album - The Islander, as well as, Last of the Wilds.

  14. Fifth Nightwish album "Once" (2004). End with this Tarja era ends. Up until the fifth track I guess this as pop sound as metal can get. Still, I liked the melodies behind the tracks, if not the vocals, so, can't really say that those songs were meh...

  15. Fourth and a half maybe (I don't know whether it is a proper studio album or a limited play album or whatever) of Nighwish "Over the Hills and Far Away" (2002). Three new songs, out of which one is a cover of Gary Moore, and handful of live versions of songs from Wishmaster and Ocenaborn.

  16. Eh, for those that followed my posts about my own countries' repertoire in other music topics (mainly Concerts You've Been At), I just found this video of Aistė Smilgevičiūtė from 2021, 5 songs of which were present in the Winter concert of last year. They were even dressed similar in 2023 lol.

  17. Fourth "Nightwish" album "Century Child" (2002). Same as the other three, no complaints. I guess, this is the album that they reached popularity outside Finland and neighbourhooring countries...

  18. Third Nightwish album "Wishmaster" (2000). Yep, I agree with Anduin, the first two albums do not hold a candle to it. Here's the thing, at least Tarja era albums... I don't think that I actually dislike any of the songs in their catalogue, if listening back-to-back (so far at least).

  19. Second Nightwish album "Oceanborn" (1998). Okey, pretty on par with their first one, though. Either they remastered their older albums recently or... because the production quality on Spotify of both of these albums is far better than I remember (or maybe because I have better set-up then ripped 120 kB sound files decades ago lol)... And I'm reluctant to admit, but yeah, the production quality alone makes it the better album.

Edit: Though, I guess I understand why people prefer Oceanborn over Angels Fall First - because it's faster and has more cool riffs, and the first album is slower and more folkey like.

  20. ^

I liked the melody in the background, not a fan of growling though. Yeah, seems lie an interesting act

Anyways, began Nightwish discography; and I still say that their first album is better than Oceanborn!

  21. Well, been listening to my own country's repertoire (on a third solo artist now Ovidijus Vyšniauskas). I think that the best song of his is "Nidai" (For Nida) [a song about a resort town in Curonian Spit that annually helds a festival called Let's Swim to Nida (Plaukiam į Nidą), which is (incidentally) also a hymn for the festival that was composed in 1994.

    Approximate lyrics:

    [Verse]

    Wind...

    Warm wind through the sea

Brings your quiet voice to me.

    My thoughts...

    Light sails in the mist

Ship of memories comes back to thee.

    Golden Summer castle

Here, the night hides the sun.

    Oh, sea...

    Your blood in me

And the lot to live among the winds that's destined for me.

    Voice...

    I again hear your voice

It drowns out thousands other voices.

The night again hides the sun

    We hurry to you.

The rains are pouring down the road

    And hope enters the heart.

    [Chorus x2]

The music, which I have composed to thee

From the night, and from the day...

My sea, I have come to thee again

    To share my songs...

    [Verse 2]

    We hurry to you...

The rains are pouring down the road

    And hope enters the heart...

    [Chorus x3]
