  1. Without getting into all this again, I just want to say knowing that JP spins everything to his advantage, the fact that the best spin he could put on this event still portrays Jensen as basically telling him to step back and take a chill pill makes me smile hugely, because it means Jensen didn't apologize for anything since he had nothing to apologize for. He stood his ground. 👍
  2. I'm assuming he won't stay "bad" long, I doubt the actor can handle that role for an extended period of time, but who knows. I thought the episode was decent in general, but I'm sorry, I simply can't take seriously a pudgy faced, curly mopped teen as Edge's daddy. Plus, ew, the whole scenario is hella skeevy. Sarah was annoying the crap out of me too, screaming at her parents the way she was, like she knows anything at all, while they're trying to do what they can to survive - especially since it sounded like Kyle was going to get a much better job with a promotion in Bristol anyway. I get she has a new boyfriend now, for all of a couple days, but seriously girl, take it down about a 100 notches. And just like that, Tegan suddenly looks miles better by comparison. Are we supposed to know or guess who Tegan's father from Central City might be? I stopped watching The Flash years ago, but the reference seemed to be more than a passing one. Maybe he's a character who will present himself in the second season. I'm incredibly disappointed that the bonding I thought/hoped was going to happen between JHI and Jon isn't to be because JHI can't be bothered. Good grief, give that kid something of his own FFS! This has gotten beyond ridiculous, and just makes me believe more and more every passing week that the showrunner is using the series to deal with personal issues and grudges against his own brother by dumping on Jonathan while Sue'ing the crap out of Jordan. It's enough already, move on. The Smallvillians were also annoying. People, the DOD being in Smallville isn't why your stupid town is dying. It was DOA before the show even started. The scene with Lois reporting from the top of the building was the coolest one as a mirror to the events in JHI's world. But I'm not entirely sure the Eradicator has really thought out his plan - if he even has one. He keeps randomly body snatching people, but they don't seem to last long, then he's onto the next batch, and the next one after that. It just feels like a lot of spaghetti noodles being thrown against the wall to see what sticks. I thought Superman gave up awfully easy and fast when it came to looking for Jordan. Where did the Eradicator take him? Was it off world?
  3. Yeah, definitely CO, not Austin, TX. They're raising money for an Austin charity, but they're doing it from the mountains of CO.
  4. ITA, and I like how Chrissy isn't being written as some small town rube with no journalistic skills. She actually knows what she's doing and knows when something doesn't smell right. She's really too good a reporter/editor to be stuck in Smallville. And Lois is a terrible liar - at least, she was when she was talking to Chrissy. I also agree about liking how Clark pointed out that they played fast and loose with ethics when they both worked at the Planet. Obviously what Lois got from Sam on the record is what she's hoping will set the record straight enough to help the Cushings, because everyone in that stupid town has gone insane. And I knew the mayor was doing nothing but coughing up sleaze when he was talking to the Cushings at their house. Of course he was going to throw them under the bus. Hopefully he goes down hard after the story comes out. But I certainly don't blame the Cushings for wanting to bolt. While Sarah and Jordan may have been "trespassing", it's pretty clear from what Lana said that literally everyone in the town has "trespassed" at that particular watering hole, so the arrest was just more townie harassment. Yeah, all the kids should have gotten busted for skipping school, and they were. Though honestly I continue to feel they don't miss much skipping classes at Smallville High. As for the skank - what's her name, Tegan? - I'm just glad Jon twigged quickly enough to her little games. No, that boy can't catch a break. Personally I don't think anyone at that school is good enough for him anyway. I hope he and JHI forge a relationship that grows. Jon is being very honest, he doesn't know what he is right now because literally everything was stripped away from him as soon as they moved to Smallville. Hopefully this is the start of his trajectory. We know Jordan is Superboy, his path is clear. Maybe Jon can follow in JHI's footsteps and become a tech wiz. It was no surprise that the DOD cage couldn't contain Edge/The Eradicator for long. I just don't know how they're going to defeat what he is now given all the energy he's sucking up from the sun. Clark is right, there needs to be a fail safe where he's concerned. I like that he trusts JHI enough to be in charge of those weapons. I really like this iteration of Clark and Lois. Tyler and Elizabeth have easy natural chemistry together. I think they may be my favorite versions of the couple so far, tv and film.
  5. IMO you can count the black coach in the "bad guy" category too given the way he has been written. Also seemingly perpetually angry, always verbally abusive with no explanation to the one Kent boy (Jon). Then the last time we see him he's hanging out in the hallway getting off listening in on the conversation between a couple of kids (again, Jon & the girl) like he's two steps away from being caught as a predator on Dateline. I agree there are some problems in the writing with PoC on this show. I don't think they changed anything where JHI is concerned - I think his trajectory was always what it was since Edge was the real Big Bad. But you're right, how many episodes did it take to come to that reveal? I also think writing Kyle as the half-Hispanic male with anger issues and alcoholism falls into the problematic writing category for non-lily white characters. I do think the turnabout with his character in stopping the drinking, apologizing to his family, becoming a much better father and husband almost overnight might very well have something to do with the complaints about writing for characters of color or minority. Though if Kyle suddenly gets killed off, that's again a little problematic. So there are or have been a few problems, and I think the producers should be aware of it by now.
  6. Finally got a chance to catch up, and I have to say I thought this was a slow episode with a lot of expository padding. Diggle was nothing but padding, there honestly didn't seem to be much reason for him to show up except to deliver something that could have been specially shipped. Maybe he'll appear again in the future with something more to do at that time. Superman wasn't Zod for very long, so there really was no tension to the plot. Though this appears to be confirmation as to what actually happened on JHI's world - Supes was likely taken over by Zod there too. And considering there is zero confirmation that JHI's weapon killed his Supes, I still think the guy made it through to this world the same as JHI did, and we just haven't seen him yet. I also continue to believe it's possible Natalie made it through on her own too. She wasn't dead when JHI left - just left behind. But having JHI stalk a sister who is not his sister was creepy, especially since he looked like he would have dropped in on her had Lois not called. The whole loser town against the Cushings thing was hella annoying, but obviously they had to give them something to do. And now they're all happy-happy-joy-joy as a family, all but guaranteeing something really bad is coming their way. Since we know they can't kill off Lana or the kids, Kyle could very well be dead man walking. Though I did wonder if the little girl had maybe been taken over and we just don't know that yet. The family reunion was a little too sweet, a little too perfect. It's probably not that, but in any good horror movie, the little sister totally would be possessed. And I think the Kents own family reunion at the end would have had more punch and meaning if Clark had been gone for more than barely 24 hours, if that. Three more episodes this season, so obviously the Edge storyline isn't over - and he's obviously also not Edge anymore. Is he Zod now, or someone else who has yet to be introduced? Someone bigger and badder than Zod? If Supes/Zod is still out there somewhere, then it does make more sense that Edge is someone else who will team up with Supes/Zod once that Supes finally materializes. That would give Tyler a lot more opportunity to play good and bad Supes as two different characters. And I'm sure it's not going to happen this season, but for the love of Zod, they have to give Jonathan Kent something to do that justifies his existence. Perpetual cheerleader with no friends or special skills of any kind is a passive sideline position to be in, and ultimately a thankless one the longer that's all this kid is allowed to be about. Hopefully they have something more in mind for him than playing Jordan's prop. If not, what was the point of giving the Kents twins? They could have just gone with the one special kid and left it at that. No, they haven't done as much as they could have with Jordan's powers so far, but there's no fear they won't be focusing on them a lot more in the near future. Which naturally leaves his brother out of the equation when Jordan works more and more with dad on those powers. Pretty soon Jordan won't even need Jon as a prop. When that happens, Jon has to have a more active role that's his own. Superman needs to go back to Edge's skeevy lair and eliminate gross holo-daddy once and for all. That should be thing #1 on the to do list after dinner.
  7. I never thought that was the intention. I recall months/a year? ago when Jensen talked about a 6-episode reboot/revisit on a streaming platform. And with the indication this is just one of a few stories he has in mind, I get the impression this and anything else that comes after will be limited. I hope so, at least. That's the best bet anyway. Obviously he swung the idea by Kripke, who liked it, so he and D have a take on it that may or may not work. But I'll give it a go because, again, I suffered through the last 3-5 years of Drabbness with its LOL!canon/no canon, so nothing can be worse. And unlike Dabb and most of his staff, Jensen legit loves the show and wanted better for it that he never got. If this one makes it to air and if there are other limited stories he wants to tell, it will confirm my feeling that Jensen is producing professional fixit-fic. I wonder what other ideas he has? Whatever they are, if any of them fly in a limited capacity, my feeling is that he'd be working up to the big fixit - the finale. I'd seriously empty my bank account to see Jensen fix that one. If nothing else, the speculation about The Winchesters gives us something new to talk about.
  8. The blood drinking made Sam look bad - it was essentially an alcoholic/drug addict storyline. Why Kripke and the writers thought it would ever make him look good is a little disturbing. So yeah, at the 11th hour suddenly it was all super-duper for the alcoholic to binge or the addict to shoot up. Nothing bad to see here, kiddies. Quite the message they were sending there. I too agree that if you watched this show at all, like ever, but especially from season five on - and good god, kept at it through the Dabb years - canon is not a complaint you can pull out of your pocket to level at The Winchesters. By the end of the show there was no canon. In the Dabb years anything remotely resembling canon was busted on a weekly basis. So anything Jensen or anyone else wants to do with this show isn't going to step on canon because there's nothing to step on. The canon ship sailed and sank a long time ago.
  9. And it can be faster. I made E2 right out of basic training because I was a platoon leader. So by the time I got to the into my third year, probably around 26 mos, I made E5. And I only served three years active total (one year reserve). So yeah, John really didn't have to be in the Marines that long to go up in ranks. After you get to E5/Sergeant rank, things start to go slower and it's longer to go up in the ranks.
  10. Yeah, this was my feeling too - Dean would be narrating the story from Heaven, because Chuck knows he has nothing else to do and he's already bored AF. But it would be the way to go if Dean learned of the story from talking with his parents during their endless days and discovering everything he never knew. It's not like he got a chance to really talk to them when they were alive, so in Heaven would be the time and place for new discoveries. And in narrating, I would assume he'd be talking to someone, telling that someone the story. Could be Sam after he arrives, could be Cas, could be Bobby or Charlie, could be all of them together. Danneel said they were taking them back to teen years, and if they're going to try and marry canon to the story, then we'd see teen John and Mary probably not liking each other at all until Cupid gets involved.
  11. I think Anna Fricke* was hired on as exec producer/showrunner, but the premise for Walker was found and the rights purchased by JP's then manager (before the whole sexual assault issues on Survivor) and JP. And when that was announced, Jensen Ackles's name was nowhere to be found because it had absolutely nothing to do with him. Just as when it was announced that Jensen Ackles and Danneel Ackles had formed a production company under the WB's umbrella, Jared Padalecki's name was nowhere to be found, because he is not involved in any way, shape, or form. The grasping "for all we know" fantasies are just that, fantasies. These things are announced by the trade outlets when they're official, with everything crossed and dotted on the contracts - there's no need to pretend or speculate. The Js do not have a production company together, period. And neither of them has ever even said they were working toward that goal. *Fricke is now exec producer on the pre-production reboot of The 4400. I don't know what that means for her continued involvement in Walker. That was announced in the trades months ago.
  12. I'm so sorry for your loss. I'm glad you got to spend time with him before his passing.
  13. A lot of fans have wanted solo panels for a long time, if for no other reason than to shake things up and stop getting the same lame "pranking" questions, for instance, and eliminate the problem of having someone dominate the conversation. Plus, the guys are doing different things, have different projects to discuss. It would give each the time to do that. So yeah, solo panels in the future would be a really good thing if Creation would consider that. However, if not the men will perform their duty. It's what they're paid to do. Bottom line, we don't know the details of the contract because we're not part of it. But a lot of months of legwork were put into it just to get it to this very early germ of a stage, as these things go, and there's a lot more work to be done. That's how these things roll out. But the announcement was supposed to be a big thing, a good thing for J&D and their production company. And it very much started out that way until someone decided to crap on it publicly and make it solely about himself on SM. A real "friend" would never have done that. Period. Thanks for posting the virtual panel link, gonzosgirrl. I was trying to find it this morning, so yay you! Obviously JP has known for a while that J&D were working with their production company on Supernatural-adjacent projects. And Jensen in that panel also discusses the long road to travel just to get to some kind of a contract stage, and then the more work that has to happen after that. Which is exactly where they're at right now. There's not even a script at this point, details are being hashed out. It's also clear Jensen is not under any illusion that this process is easy or that they're taking anything for granted. They know the business better than we do. Thanks for this link!
  14. It's about time. I like it! He also posted one more tweet for the day. Sorry, I don't know how to imbed! Upbeat, professional - rising above it. Best thing to do.
  15. If Jared's twitter tantrum is what ends up costing J&D, Chaos Machine, Robbie Thompson, and everyone else attached to the project this contract, there should be legal ramifications.
  16. No, you really aren't alone in wanting to see where Jensen took this storyline, especially with Robbie as the head writer. Though I would have preferred it to go straight to HBOMax and not to the CW. I really don't want Jensen anywhere near the CW again. And I also would have liked a much darker take on the characters, which could better happen on HBOMax. But, someone's meltdown has overshadowed everything.
  17. The Ackles still have a house in Austin, but yes, they sold the lake house that was in Architectural Digest and moved to a completely different part of Austin several years ago - closer to the downtown area. Now with the Colorado house, it looks like they'll be going back and forth between the two places. I wonder in which state D is registering the kids for school? As long as the Ackles remain part of the brewery, they have to maintain an address in Texas, according to Texas state law, from what I understand. If they wanted to give up their stake in the business, I wouldn't be at all surprised at a complete move out of Texas at that point. The "make-up" tweets were 110% PR. I'm sure the CW was involved. As to how much of a friendship these guys still have, many fans have noticed and speculated the last few years - long before this incident - that the Js weren't as close as they once were. Which makes perfect sense, especially once the show ended. And now ... well, yeah. It really doesn't look good. Which will make any appearances at Creation cons in the future awkward AF after this. Still, they're actors. They'll put on a show. It's what they're supposed to do.
  18. I think D said they acquired the rights from Kripke. You know, maybe I'm naive, but when I read the announcements, I assumed it was early stages, as these things are, and that at some point J&D would find a way to include JP, possibly Misha, maybe others if only as cameos or guest appearances/voices. And the bottom line is that this prequel isn't about Dean or Sam anyway. The story happens before they are born. It'll be interesting to see who they hire for those roles.
  19. Yes, Jared should have his SM access taken away from him. Regardless of whether Jensen should have clued him into the project, thinking that the behavior Jared displayed publicly on SM last night was in any way professional or adult or deserved is disturbing. This is the same bile he launched at airline workers, waiters, waitresses, bartenders, etc. etc. Using his celebrity to try and rile his fan base to dox people and screw with their livelihoods is not justified in any scenario. And now he's doing it do a supposed "friend" and colleague of 15 years? Frankly the CW should be unhappy at this behavior from one of their employees considering they are interested in the prequel project.
  20. I have to guess at best he got himself a GED at some point, because no, it certainly doesn't look like he would have finished school at Smallville High or any other high school. I'm also guessing he didn't go to college - thus part of the reason why Perry White said his resume was thin. He had no real education or experience. And why the hell would Clark have thought his high school girlfriend would still be waiting around for him after Clark disappeared for what looks like at least five years, if not more? I sincerely doubt she got communication from him while he was training at the Fortress of Solitude. His mother never heard from him either. So I'm shocked that Clark was naive enough to think Lana wouldn't have moved on long before he returned.
  21. Wow, this season is flying by in how fast the storyline is progressing - a little too fast, I think. Flash-fast! Unless what's happening now is just a big honking macguffin, the set up for the real story to come. The flashbacks were really well done. I loved the entire Lois and Clark backstory, all the Superman story nods, and the twist that Lois was in love with Clark, not Superman. The only thing that confuses me is how soon Clark's father - Jonathan - dies. Maybe I'm confusing some of the story with Smallville right now, but it feels like Jonathan never really factored in Clark's life - only Martha did. And even she wasn't enough to keep Clark from leaving her for years. It very much mirrors Clark's loyalties to his sons - where Jordan named for Jor-El is of primary importance to Clark, and Jonathan is the fleeting recollection of an Earth father he had but lost long ago and doesn't put a whole lot of thought into. Interesting. But I really did adore how much Clark loved his first supersuit because mom made it for him. Awwwww. Clark gave up so easily and quickly. I mean, we know he's not going to remain "bad" for too long. At least I hope not! But it looks like JHI was right on the money. I guess we're to assume the Superman in JHI's universe went bad under the same influence of Edge and his creepy gross AF daddy. Yikes! I'm with AimingforYoko - I immediately flashed back to the original Dune movie too. Like minds! And Clark really shouldn't trust that Edge is going to keep his word anyway. The guy is a sociopath. But again, all this is happening lightning fast. And the DOD is already gone from the farm even though they were aware Edge was still out there? Grandpa, what were you thinking?!? I can't be paid enough money to care that Jordan and Sarah officially hooked up. However, once again this plot device feels like it happened in a blink. Which should mean it ain't going to last - something will happen to break them up, because that's how these things go. So now we have to wait a few weeks for the next episode? Sad!
  22. I don't think this has been posted yet. EW's roundtable video which includes Jensen discussing THE LONG HALLOWEEN that I believe comes out next week.
  23. Yeah, all those humans should have burst on impact like watermelons, plummeting from space like they did. I guess somehow Clark was able to insure they all got to the ground safely and we just didn't see it? Or we're not supposed to put that much thought into it. I'm assuming the writer would like us to go with the last one. I've gotta say I really didn't think they'd make Edge Supe's real bro. It feels off, mytharc-wise, that mom just happened to have another family, then abandoned her first kid who also just happened to get shipped to Earth before Kal-El? I think Zod breaking out from the Phantom Zone would have made a lot more sense. It sucks that Edge had a rougher go of it than Clark did, but being greeted by a bunch of gun-toting Brits doesn't quite compute. Now if he'd landed in some place like Texas, it'd be much easier to buy. I agree things feel like they're moving very fast - which isn't really a bad thing. It's better than dragging everything out with secrets and lies like they usually do on CW shows - like they did on Smallville. Were they not convinced they'd get another season or something? I guess we wait and see what else Edge and LL have up their sleeves. Apparently LL is the one Smallvillian who completed the transformation, that's why she wasn't ejected. Is Kyle's parasite really going to set his sights on a 14 year old boy as his #1 Nemesis? Wow, Jon just hit the big time. Though I'm not entirely unconvinced yet that someone - maybe same said parasite - isn't going to take over Jon eventually. Unless this guy was just posturing - and this episode did spend a lot of time with people standing around being expositional. But for now it feels like this one Kryptonian has plans for Jonathan. Is Lana going to remember any of Lara's conversation with Superman? I have to assume some of it is going to bleed through eventually. It certainly was ballsy of Lana to offer herself up as host. The episode was a little clunky, but the storyline shifted forward with literally everyone in Smallville now being on the same page with all the alien haps going on around them.
