  1. Same here. 3/5 with one * Cambridge sent me straight to Newton and his apple tree. For Wednesday I was torn between Philadelphia, NYC, or Paris. Omitted Philly immediately since it seemed too obvious, and because of Franklin settled on Paris. I got Mongolia immediately and thought “it’s a -stan” for the 2nd country and guessed Kazakhstan because it was the only one I could think of. Besides Trebekistan of course 😉 But then thought, “hang on, what about N. Korea”. I am awful at geography so was patting my back to get all 3.
  2. Amazing story. I’m glad you’re both ok. Non-FJ shout out to our favorite French philosopher today.
  3. I had twins about 6 weeks before my 39th birthday and that was a lot. I couldn’t imagine doing it 10 years later, but more power to her. Hope it all goes smoothly. Finally got to watch the pilot. I loved Hilary in “Boys Don’t Cry”, but haven’t liked her in anything since. She was ok here, but honestly I liked the supporting cast better, especially Roz. It took me a minute to place Jeff Perry; he’s lost a lot of weight. Always glad to see him. The story she is working on is very interesting and hopefully will bring attention to this issue.
  4. 3/5 with C* I was surprised that Verne was a TS I missed both WWII-era clues. I guessed “the ship that bombed in Pearl Harbor”but hubby was nice 🙄 enough to inform me that it was named after a state, and I guessed Churchill. Perfect week for hubby.
  5. I went through the alphabet trying to come up with a country. When I got to f-g-h, I immediately thought of Afghanistan but took the clue too literally and thought it had to be the first 3 letters like the example I’m the clue.
  6. 3/5 no * Afghanistan popped into my mind for Tuesday, but I interpreted the clue as looking for the first 3 letters to be in sequence, like the example given. Thank goodness Wed & Thurs were easy & Friday was a lucky guess, mainly because the clue spotted that it was a big country. Canada is my normal go-to big country and I didn’t feel like thinking any further lol
  7. 4/5 w/** I missed soccer balls & guessed weather maps???? Don’t know where that came from But 1970 was before my time anyway haha The rivers were a huge guess. I was lucky that my mind went to S America & those were the only countries that I could think of with the same last 4 letters. I had no idea that there are rivers with those names as well, and hopefully I’ll remember if it ever comes up again. Forbes, Ian Fleming, & Egypt were instagets. South Africa took a second but once I started thinking what countries are in Southern Africa, oh, South Africa, of course. Thank goodness the name was obvious based on my train of thought. Happy Birthday @ams1001 My office celebrates birthdays with a cake from Nothing Bundt Cake and of course we have to do the bunk-bonk scene. It’s mandatory.
  8. 3/5, missed Mon & Wed, my answers being “Mayflower Compact” and “Howard Hughes”. Once I heard Emancipation Proclamation, I had a tiny glimmer of recognition regarding the delay of it going into effect
  9. Hi everybody!! So happy to have you back @saber5055 4/5 no asterisk I got married in 1993 and wanted “Whole New World” to be our first dance song, and hubby said nope nope nope. Of course I got it right, he didn’t, I reminded him I wanted it as our wedding song, and he had no recollection of that whatsoever 🤦 @shapeshifter belated Happy Birthday 🥳
  10. 3/5 w/both * Like @DXD526 I was distressed that no one got my Queen, Stevie Nicks, correct. And literary animals is almost always Eyeore - so much so that I pre-guessed it. Galileo seemed easy to figure out, but guess not since it was a TS. As usual I sucked at geography & anything technical.
  11. 4/5 with * I missed Waiting for Godot but was relatively sure of the other four. No wild guesses for once. I knew the constellation Capricorn because it is my astrological sign so knew a bit about it. And I doubt I will ever answer another constellation clue correctly ever again. Another vote for @saber5055 to get her butt back in here! You are greatly missed!!
  12. 4/5 missed Tuesday, but astrology & mythology are 2 of my worst subjects. Friday was a lucky guess. I’m so happy that Ken is back!
  13. 3/5 I guessed RI for Monday (but figured that was too obvious to be correct), and Dracula for Thursday. After the correct answer was revealed, I remembered learning that fact at a Holmes museum exhibit. I’d blame covid-brain, but I’m the queen of after the fact “I knew that” I’ll bring 3-cheese pizza. Take-out, so there will be none of my covid cooties 🦠
  14. 2/5 no * Along with the 3 contestants I guessed Lord Byron for Tuesday. I had no idea for Monday, and guessed NYC for Thursday, which is dumb because it was founded in the 17th century. Almost missed Friday as my first guess was Suriname but remembered French Guyana just in time. I always think it’s in Africa. Yet another example of my prowess in geography lol Twix for all. I have both left & right.
  15. 3/5 w/* Got M, Tu, W. No clue for Thursday & guessed DeNiro for Friday. I wasn’t sure about Poe on Wednesday, but happy for the lucky guess. I’ll bring strawberry shortcake trifle.
  16. 3/5 no * My mind went to athletic brands for Wednesday & all I could come up with was Adidas. For Thursday I guessed Game of Thrones which got me an exasperated sigh from Dr Toothbrush because how did I know the the first GOT book came out in the mid-‘90s??? 🙄I knew Moebius was the clue within the clue, but since I suck at mythology that was no help. Not sure even if I knew I would have gotten it, since evidently I am one of the last people on Earth who has not seen Outlander.
  17. 4/5 w/* I missed Monday but 9/10 I’m not going to answer any mythology question correctly. I couldn’t think of any other 14th century poem than “Divine Comedy” and thankfully the only part I can ever remember was the correct response. The rest of the week was relatively easy, although Peru was a quasi-guess that I was pretty sure was correct, thanks to ‘Serra’ in the clue which made me think of the Andes & then Peru.
  18. @PBnJay Please add an * for me for Thursday. In my excitement that I finally answered a FJ correctly for the week, I forgot that Petra was a TS.
  19. Thanks for googling @ams1001 I didn’t realize the season ending is still 6 weeks away. I have been thinking that Ken should return any time now, thinking there were only a couple of weeks left.
  20. 2/5 Guessed Desmond Tutu for Monday, couldn’t come up with anything for Tuesday, and guessed Waterloo for Wednesday. I knew Thursday & it’s part of my travel bucket list. Didn’t know Friday for sure but couldn’t think of anything besides telegraph. New reactions! Doesn’t take much to make me happy these days 🤩
  21. Memorial Day isn’t a big holiday here in New Orleans; Mardi Gras seems to have taken its place. Schools and non-federal government businesses are open. We even had trash pick-up yesterday. It wasn’t until I moved out of state when I was 21 that I realized it was a holiday elsewhere. But I did get married Memorial Day weekend 1993. So yesterday we had our usual Monday night dinner of Chik-fil-A.
  22. 2/5 w/* I did get half of Thursday (guessed Baltic & Black Seas), so 2.5/5? I guessed Stuart instead of Bruce & had no idea for Friday. Looks like I need to make a trip to Trader Joe’s! I’ve been craving peaches like mad, so I’ll bring peach cobbler.
  23. I got TS of Gilda Radner, Key West, Henry VII, 8th Ward, & The Blacklist. FJ was an instaget. I pre-guessed “we have no fear but fear itself”, so right speaker, wrong speech. Mayim looked really pretty tonight. But I really miss Ken. It’s always been cool to be a Queen fan!
  24. I looked for dogs when I was at Chichen Itza.
  25. Quoting myself from the spoiler/speculation thread in light of Dan Fogelman’s comments about us having possibly watched the early years of a POTUS: Kinda nailed it, as the kids say. So, where’s my show? lol
