I literally hung my head when Friday’s category was announced, just knowing that my streak for the week would end, but luckily it was very obviously a French composer & deBusy was the only one I could think of.

Happy Belated Birthday @ams1001! My meatball recipe comes from a local, long gone New Orleans grocery store. It was printed on their (paper, I’m old) bags, and it’s such a taste of childhood for me. It takes 6 hours to make them, and it’s worth every minute. They’re an Easter tradition in my 0% Italian family.

Happy Thanksgiving @secnarf & any other Canadians here!

  2. 3/5 Couldn’t get past Lucy for Thursday even though I knew it was wrong. I remembered Sue just before Deanna’s correct answer was revealed. I guessed Tchaikovsky for Friday thinking of the 1812 Overture, despite 1812 being 60+ years after 1749 lol

  3. 3/5 I pre-guessed Queen Victoria and, since ‘the Statue of Liberty guy’ doesn’t count, missed Wed & Friday.

Please ladle a bowl of alphabet geo-political soup for me. I need a brain kick lol I’ll bring homemade garlic bread to go with.

  4. 4/5 I couldn’t get beyond, “the Rent opera! What’s its name, dammit”, so no perfect score to end season 39. Also my age 12 years ago 🤫

@Clanstarling thank you for keeping this all on track!

Hope everyone has a wonderful rest of summer!

Same results for me.  If I'd thought to start with the big numbers, I might have gotten to 1666 in time.

My husband said starting at M & working back to I was the key for him getting it within the time limit.

We just have to think it in time (then we take turns answering). So go ahead, be generous.

We do the same. My parents pause the TV while they discuss 🤦

We had a great time in London, thanks for the anniversary wishes!

2/5 - Monet & Manet and Maine. My wrong guesses were Taiwan, Powell’s, and no guess for Friday.

I’ll bring OG double popsicles - the kind that you broke off half to share with a friend. I don’t even know if they sell them like that anymore; I usually only see/buy singles. At least they still have silly riddles on the sticks!

  7. 2/5 no * I only got Thursday correct because rabbits + novel = Watership Down on Jeopardy, and horses was all I could think of for Friday. My most boneheaded guess was Bhutan instead of Lesotho, knowing full well that Bhutan is not applicable when the category is African Countries 🤦And I always associated Bobby socks with the 50s rather than the 40s.

Dr Toothbrush & I are headed to London at the behind crack of dawn to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary which was in late May. Sans the mini-Toothbrushes who are dividing the 10 days between their 2 sets of grandparents. My in-laws are downsizing but waiting to list their house for sale until after Hurricane mini-Toothbrushes blows through lol

  8. 3/5 no *

I originally guessed Oprah for Monday then thought no, Bezos would not give $$ to Oprah, then went with Lady  GaGa. Did not even think of my queen Dolly. Guessed handball for Tuesday, but was so proud of myself for getting Monroe. I always forget about Monroe!

A friend of mine sent some homemade nectarine jam to us and my daughter made drop biscuits, so homemade biscuits & nectarine jam for all 😋

I got as far as Anti in Monday, and knew Un-American Activities and knew it was an acronym but didn’t get any further than that. If I had gotten Friday wrong my New Orleanian card would have been taken away!

Chargrilled oysters. Not from Lake Pontchartrain, but there are so many restaurants on the lake to chill with seafood, live music, and a cocktail

  10. 5/5 for 2nd week in a row. That’s a first (and probably last)

Got Slovenia only because when my sister, cousin, & I were in Italy in 2018 we decided to take a bus across the border for a day trip to get another stamp on our passports. A Slovenian chocolatier had just won an international chocolate competition so we sampled their wares and brought a ton back home. We also bought sausages from a food stand, and had the most delicious strawberries. So chocolates, sausages, and strawberries for all!

  11. 5/5 **!

Like @Grundoon59I have Britbox to thank for getting Lake Poets.

My mom always jokes that when I was a toddler all I wanted to eat were carrots, and as a pediatrician she was giving parents advice on picky eaters when she had a one-food two-year-old at home. Anyway, in honor of Friday’s clue, which happened during my carrot phase, I will bring carrot sticks cake

I got Monday & Friday, and thanks to @Clanstarlingruling my answer of Yangtze Dam was accepted for Thursday. I came up with Beatrice for Tuesday but couldn’t think of Benedict.

I will bring aebelskivers in honor of Friday’s clue. They are Danish puffed pancake balls that I discovered at brunch yesterday. So good!!

Dr Toothbrush & I celebrate our 30th anniversary tomorrow! We didn’t have our first kid until 14 years in, so while our friends’ kids are getting married & having kids of their own, we’re dealing with driver’s Ed, braces, & the worst of all - teen/tween hormones & attitudes.

Pulled up Monday and Tuesday's episodes from the dvr, saw MB, and turned it off. She ruins the show for me.

I ff’d to FJ for the FJ contest thread but same as far as Mayim ruining the show. I like her very much as an actress but find her lacking a a J host. But I will watch the Masters despite Mayim hosting because of the contestants. Maybe she’ll win me over as a host then.

  15. 2/5 with Dickinson * Other correct answer was John Williams. I had no idea for Thursday & guessed Centurion for Friday. I can’t remember my guess for Monday, but I do remember being very confident in my incorrectness.

Guessed 4th amendment & had no idea for Thursday. Machiavelli made sense after hearing the answer.

Hubby got the correct amendment but couldn’t come up with Easter Island, only “the place with the big headed statues” lol He also got Mandela but not Tutu.
