  1. This is what made me like Anthony Bourdain. I saw some interviews with him and he always came across as kind of a dick (and after reading his book he may have agreed with that), but I loved that not only did he come to this woman's defense he admitted that yeah, maybe the coastal areas can be a little pretentious to the middle of the country people. I actually really appreciated that he copped to it. I thought it showed a lot of character and self-reflection.
  2. Luckily for me, since the streaming app I now use (Directtv Now) doesn't seem to have The CW, their website doesn't make you pay to watch (CBS!). Only the Jeff Davis one is up though.
  3. From the nytimes, Andy Spade's statement. "Kate was the most beautiful woman in the world. She was the kindest person I’ve ever known and my best friend for 35 years. My daughter and I are devastated by her loss, and can’t even begin to fathom life without her. We are deeply heartbroken and miss her already. Kate suffered from depression and anxiety for many years. She was actively seeking help and working closely with her doctors to treat her disease, one that takes far too many lives. We were in touch with her the night before and she sounded happy. There was no indication and no warning that she would do this. It was a complete shock. And it clearly wasn’t her. There were personal demons she was battling. For the past 10 months we had been living separately, but within a few blocks of each other. Bea was living with both of us and we saw each other or spoke every day. We ate many meals together as a family and continued to vacation together as a family. Our daughter was our priority. We were not legally separated, and never even discussed divorce. We were best friends trying to work through our problems in the best way we knew how. We were together for 35 years. We loved each other very much and simply needed a break. This is the truth. Anything else that is out there right now is false. She was actively seeking help for depression and anxiety over the last 5 years, seeing a doctor on a regular basis and taking medication for both depression and anxiety. There was no substance or alcohol abuse. There were no business problems. We loved creating our businesses together. We were co-parenting our beautiful daughter. I have yet to see any note left behind and am appalled that a private message to my daughter has been so heartlessly shared with the media. My main concern is Bea and protecting her privacy as she deals with the unimaginable grief of losing her mother. Kate loved Bea so very much."
  4. @Minneapple thanks. I'll try again. I got to 4th chapter (1st flashback) and got frustrated!
  5. Has anyone read The Widows of Malabar Hill? It's a mystery set in Bombay in the 20's. It sounded fascinating but I'm on ch 4 and the titular widows gave been mentioned once in passing and the mystery is no where in sight. I'm ready to give up.
  6. The reruns will come back, so I'm not worried about the cast (especially Gilbert, Goodman, and Metcalf). I do feel badfor the crew. The gaffes, craft services, and assistants, etc. I hope get new gigs.
  7. I'm assuming one of the reasons it's not going on (and no spinoff) is Barr would get a cut as she probably characters (at least partial) to both the show and chatacters. I'm actually really proud ABC for this. Good for them.
  8. Just saw it. It was entertaining, no more, no less. For me Candice Bergen was the weakest link. Like a practice run for Murphy Brown reboot, but really they all seemed like the exact same characters they've been playing for years. The most exciting part was when I thought Diane Keaton was actually going to show her neck (no scarf, no buttoned to the top shirts). I was disappointed. That wound have been worth the $11.
  9. Groot made me cry. And Black Panther (but I don't think that one will stick).
  10. I just looked them up on their website, yeah that is very BLUE. The tan/orange lake seems quite nice though, rhe one is not too orangy.
  11. Ehh, it was fine. I mean, I'm a few episodes behind, so obviously I'm not enamored, but it was better than other options at the time.
  12. Any chance FX or FXX will pick it up???? Maybe if we send ice cream sundaes . We could also go raid all the apples AP Bio has at NBC ti bring as a peace offering.
  13. I'm going to have to take another look at Transitions. The last ones i got did not go very dark nor did they transition between day/light that quickly.
  14. I think the one that pisses me off is law and order svu. Ugh, I just can't anymore with that show. And now Alex inc is out..
  15. A. P. Bio got renewed. while I liked that show well enough, this one was superior.
  16. And now Alex inc is out.. ETA: Ok, so I;m not surprised that last one, I am SHOCKED The Mick got cancelled and A.P. Bio did not. I would not have even imagined that. While I like the latter, The Mick is vastly better.
  17. I'm pissed about Brooklyn 99 (which I just started getting into) and The Mick, which I love. One of the characters is in a freaking coma!
  18. I like Katherine Heigl movies. Hell, I like Katherine Heigl. I wish she was in more stuff.
  19. I didn't read Arvin as being embarrassed by Hailey, I saw it as him being embarrassed by his mother.
  20. I liked it too. Hailey has always been one of my favorites (and I loved her with Dylan), and I liked seeing all the exes. For all of her faults, shes always dated pretty decent guys and I like the professor. Seeing all the boyfriends you can see how much she's grown as a person. Cam, Phil, and Gliria are always funny together. Of course they get locked in a room on their way to a setup escape room.
  21. Thanks for the clarification @biakbiak and @MargeGunderson. I'm going to look for jackfruit to try.
