  1. I thought that Mary J Blige was by far the weakest link. I hate stunt casting in general but here it was showcased in sharp relief. Her delivery was wooden (yes I know that superhero shows have wooden dialogue, but she never rose above hers). I wish they had given that part to an actual actor, because for me she was a big speed bump in the action.
  2. Your comment made me laugh (Cwmtwrch?), and I agree with 100% of it. I get that people have antipathy towards certain characters, but I believe DG said at one point that there is some of her in all of them. Therefore I try not to judge too harshly.
  3. Well said. Black Jack and Loaghaire have major character flaws and mental issues, but pejorative names for only one of them is misogynistic IMO.
  4. I agree with the sentiments expressed here that I could live without all the sexual violence, but I have to give DG props for showing how much of it there actually was back then and how often men could get away with it. Women lived in fear for a good reason, IMO. Also, I have to doff my hat to DG for her deft handling of the Scots accent. Especially after reading some forums and seeing fans try to do it. A little goes a long way and kudos to her for getting it right.
  5. Wow Marjorie, way to show your true colors. Oh, and next time you complain about someone else not being refined, try not to be dressed in a shirt several sizes too small.
  6. On a different note, I'm so tired of these actors with middle class accents trying to pass themselves off as royal or close to. It's yet another thing, besides the ridiculous plot lines and bad acting, that takes me out of the story.
  7. Well said, and I couldn't stand her either. But unfortunately I think we'll see her again on All Stars.
  8. I totally agree with this. She was pushed down my throat every week, and an awful lot of talking head time was devoted to her (which I could thankfully fast forward through). I think TPTB get caught up in their power trips and forget that this is supposed to be entertainment.
  9. I got the distinct impression that Dougal wanted Jamie to marry Claire because, with a Sassenach wife, it would be very difficult for Jamie to wield any power in the clan. Not that Jamie had any designs on this, but Dougal seems very jealous of Jamie. And of course he figured on getting Claire for himself later, thus killing two birds with one stone.
  10. I think that horrible finale was the perfect capstone to a horrible season. Fuck You indeed.
  11. Andy trying to eat the peanut brittle and Ron knocking it out of his hands was my favorite scene this year.
