  1. Well, that's how most people think of actors. Playing different characters well is typically the sign of one's range and ability. And of course you want someone to be able to play a fully fleshed out character but alot of that is up the writing and lines as well. Some folks criticize Jack Nicholson for allegedly playing the same guy in all his roles. Some praise him for it. I don't make the rules. Not really, I was asking if it was his acting abilities or the writing because the last episode showed something we rarely see. Maybe they have been too passive about their jobs? I'd think they'd have more say after 14 years. That's very sad and I feel bad for them.
  2. I believe y'all are missing my point. The last episode was so good and felt like the older seasons, I feel like some of the blame for the bad writing falls to Jensen & Jared. They have alot of pull and should have put up more of a fight with the bad story arcs and inconsistencies. We always tend to blame the showrunners and writers (don't get me wrong here. Most of them suck big time) but the boys most have some say about what happens with their show. Am I crazy to think this? I've never heard that part about the Marvel movies shortlist. That's very interesting! I do hope our heros get work after the show is done. I just figured they've been typecasted for being on Supernatural for so long. I never truly thought that Jensen (or Jared) are bad actors. Just thought they weren't exceptional. Maybe the fact that the show has gone downhill for so long now has made me a bit blinded to their abilities. Even though I really loved the last episode, it does make me question as to why there such wild swings in quality when it can be still awesome as shown to us all last week? It's almost frustrating...
  3. Lol! No one said anything about your female brains. My only point was that some of the fangirls of Supernatural over the years overlook some shortcomings of J & J because of their looks. Guys all do the same thing. We're only human. Plus, I feel that they've had more influence on the writing over the past few seasons than we all want to admit. That being said, I'm looking forward to the rest of the season after such a stellar episode!
  4. I gotta say... I loved this episode! It felt like the old days and I actually cared what happened and was interested. It even seemed short which is always a good sign of when you're really digging the episode! I was really disappointed with the mid-season finale so this really helped revitalize my interest in our aging show. Jensen did a good job and DID make it seem like a different character. Jared and Misha always get to play other roles so it was nice to see Jensen get to be someone different. For years, I always thought it was because he couldn't do other characters due to his limited acting ability but he proved he's a decent actor imo. As a male (which is a bad word these days) and won't rabidly defend J & J every chance I can like some of y'all here. You have to agree that they have alot of pull with the story being the stars of the longest running CW show and should have fought harder for better story arcs, writers, showrunners etc. for the past few seasons. Seems like the boys are putting their foot down finally. It also was nice to see Jack developing into a good, well rounded character. I know alot of folks here don't like him (calling him nougat baby lol) but I really think he's been a good addition. Nice to seem him use his awesome abilities again although we have an idea of what will happen eventually. Hbut for now, he brings back a good, innocent side to the angels which Castel used to carry solo. I still miss Crowley and some of our female leads though. I would have rather seen Jo than Pamela. Would have made more sense too. About Crowley... He was the only intelligent bad guy who knew Sam and Dean would always win in the end. You would think Michael would figure this out being in Dean's head but I guess power can blind rationale. Oh and Billie is cooler now than I remembered now. At least she seems more rational and less revenge driven now. I really thought it was a bad idea killing off Death to begin with. Julian was such a great actor in that role. He was more mysterious and powerful than Billie and brought such a chilling feeling about how you can't cheat death even the Winchesters. All and all, it was good episode and reminded me of why I still watch the show after 14 years.
  5. What a flaming turd this season has been. So angel possession has no rules now? Michael isn't a demon. Demons don't need permission. Angels do. Even Lucifer needed it. I could see a demon leaving a weakness to reinhabit a vessel but not an angel. They are still built a certain way. Just because Dean said yes once doesn't leave an open door to reinhabit anytime he wishes. This has been shown before with Gladarel. It can not be done. But these idiot show runners have no rules or don't remember their own lore. Every bit of angel lore since season 4 is totally pointless now. This is no more than a crappy supernatural soap opera like the rest of the stuff on the CW. Despite what some of y'all think, Jack is only interesting thing on this show in the past couple of seasons and he's been neutered as well. It's no different than what they've done with Castel or making angels less powerful or more so to suit the particular storyline. I get some of y'all really love to see Jensen and Jared take on different roles in the show but this was predictable and lame. And then forcing a failed spinoff to be part of the lore is stupid as well. Plus, it's killed all momentum and restarted the season.
  6. I'm curious as to why you all think Kaia (or whatever her name was) is going to be the next bad guy. I'd rather it be Lucifer for the 4th time rather than that reject spinoff leftover. That would be incredibly stupid even for Supernatural. Annoyance with Dean's angel story and crappy writing aside, Wouldn't most likely be the Empty Keeper or whatever that thing was?
  7. Yeah, I looked it up after replying myself lol! Seems that a scratch works on general werewolf lore and not on Supernatural. Only a bite works for the show. Maybe it was all the horror movies I watched around Halloween lol! One thing I did enjoy (as some of y'all are mentioning) are the legends of the Winchesters! I know they've been mentioned by various run-ins with hunters but this was great! I wish they had gone a little more in depth with that. I'd love to hear the hunters debating whether some of it was bullsh!t or not hehehhe! So far, I'm enjoying this season! I hope the MOL things pay off along with Lucifer side story. I know there was a bit of controversy with the Nazi Thule episode but I kinda wish they ended up fighting Hitlers 4th Reich of something. That would have been interesting to me as a history buff but would have been too silly, I guess... The manic behavior of Hitler was very accurate from what I understand. Also, the surprising love of animals and his fellow German people was right on par. Wish the kid and his golem was on the episode though. I guess it reminded me of the Stein family. The guys Dean fought when he became a demon. It had some potential as well. I guess the British MOL will have to do. It's kind of nice to have Supernatural branch out a bit from the demons, monsters, and angels. Much like the Walking Dead, the real danger is from people! As pessimistic as that view is, that's the truth imo...
  8. Although the episode was decent, they really screwed up the lore so much this time. In the first scene, the kid gets scratched on the face by a werewolf yet doesn't turn and it's never mentioned again. Wtf?! That's a huge deal imo. Just seemed like an identity mark they used to show the kid growing up in the following scenes. Not to mention they show a 1990s truck when it supposedly the 1980s. Also, as y'all already mentioned, the lack of devils trap tattoos/amulets is ridiculous! The twins could have been more helpful in the demon fight (besides noticing the warding) due to be raised by a witch. The writers really need to get a supernatural lore expert to review the scripts. The inconsistencies are getting sad at this point... One last thing... The way the writers screwed up Death and making him out to be a bad guy was so stupid. So now we have this annoying reaper named Billie threatening the boys every several episodes. I find her irritating! Why don't they just kill her, seriously? I know some of y'all like her and it's nice to have more female characters but she's so annoying to me lol! She's like a bee that is somewhat menacing but mostly just annoying that just flies around pestering you went you're outside. They just won't stop lol!
