  1. Gundam: Origin is more about the origin of Zeon? Interesting. That’s some serious atmospheric variation between a car bombing (the redhead did it) and a lost cat rescue.
  2. Seems like Food Wars is aiming to be the JoJo bizarre replacement? Possibly crossed with Kill la Kill. I’m willing to give it a try.
  3. I know, but I’m hoping against hope that Kirito isn’t the hero of this one. I hope it’s Yugeo.
  4. This show was really unique - ostensibly a fighting show, but a lot of it was about out-thinking or out-strategizing your opponent. Once I got into the groove of it, I enjoyed most of it. I’d watch more of it came back to TV again. I’m a bit disappointed that we didn’t see Ging go out like we first saw him - on a beast on a monster on a dragon, or something like that.
  5. So just me watching this one, then? I spent most of the episode trying to figure out if Toonami added strategically placed locks of hair on Administrator, or if those were original. Glad Kirito and Yugeo didn’t fight for too long. I like that Admin mentioned no metal blade can pierce her, making it really clear that an ice dragon bone sword is where we’re heading.
  6. I like that at the end Eren has a limbless Berthold, like they had a limbless Eren last season. Props to Armin for subverting the trope of “you and I have plans, so I have to survive”.
  7. Those horses were dead either way. It’s impressive they can get them to go towards the Titans at all, really.
  8. I agree, the Chairman Netero backstory was one of my favorite episodes.
  9. Speak for yourself. As a parent I’m planning to use a lot of the “You are already dead, just lie down and give up on existence” on my kids. Somehow Ray’s ship date is going to coincide with escaping over the bridge. You know I hear those children with the date codes are really just “best if consumed by” - it’s not like they aren’t safe to eat later.
  10. I called it but that one was obvious. It’s interesting that the Senate together can force through system calls that would otherwise require the user’s approval. I bet that’s going to be relevant. ”Two sword style” - hah!
  11. I agree. I bet Norman took the deal that Emma turned down. They’ve gotta have older-than-12 men somewhere, even just as samples.
  12. Not liking how the Colossal Titan’s motion is animated. I know he’s huge but it just seems too smooth. That was an amazing speech, somewhat tempered by the knowledge that the Beast is plot relevant, and thus unlikely to die at Levi’s blade. I figured the secret plan was going to involve Eren’s Titan control power. Did we all just kinda forget about that?
  13. Random actual plot related comment: IF Kirito actually let Yugeo in on what he learned from the Cardinal, then this could all be a feint from Yugeo to get close. Is he still holding the knife? But probably none of these characters are that smart, and Kirito is going to have to fight Yugeo Synthesis 31 😕 .
  14. I assumed that the trapped participants of SAO did something to forget their existential dread during the two years they were trapped. But I guess it’s more a question of whether intensely realistic VR games have parental controls. This ep was not quite as exploitative as the original “Asuna vs the tentacle aliens” ep, but it’s still the one ep per season that ensures I won’t watch it with my 12-year-old, who is super into video games. Oh well.
  15. I liked that this series kept it relatively light, so they could always have some humor without it getting too dark. Kira lost a hand to Arnold, before he was dragged off to Hell (?) by all those hands. Very fitting. I’m glad we left open the possibility that Postcard Dad is still out there with the arrow somewhere. Remember when your goal was to retrieve that, guys?
  16. I get the impression they also have a lot of raw recruits, who are still at risk from instinctual terror or just inexperience.
  17. Colossal Titan is maybe nuclear powered? I’m going to miss Hange.
  18. I liked that in the final scene, the holes in Kira’s back have tiny horns. They’re basically small Deadly Queens. I’m not convinced postcard Kira’s Dad is really dead.
  19. I can see thunder spears working on the Armored Titan, but I think it’s going to require more than that for the Colossal Titan.
  20. I love that we picked up the energy level right where we left off. Too bad Eren can’t kick his Titan-sized Impostor Syndrome, but I guess that’s what keeps him from just being another Asta.
  21. “Isn’t there any thing I can do to stop this from happening?” Not without changing the timeline, Flash.
  22. I’m enjoying the Naruto birthday flashbacks way more than I thought I would. Minato and Kushina were so happy for about ten seconds.
  23. The numbering on the top 16 hunters was weird - there were two 11 and two 13. Did it reflect a tie vote? For a minute I thought they were trying to put one over on us.
  24. I’m so tired of there being two girls to simper over Yugio and Kirito. Easily my least favorite trope of season three. I like the new opening, glad they kept a complicated high-five as their signature.
  25. I interpreted this as the “English words are cool in Japan” trope, but not sure why they didn’t translate it differently. This week: I’m impressed All-for-One can operate untethered and out of the tank.
