  1. Good finale, very cyber-Voltron somehow. Was Nemesis hinting that there are a lot more of him out there? Not a surprise that Chase ended up where he did. I’m curious if you have a funeral for his mortal remains, or what. Somewhat surprised that the Anvil survived but I’m not asking too many questions.
  2. The White Zetsu seem to be cannon fodder, agreed. I had to look up Haku all over again. It’s a sad and strange relationship. But I like that we are tying in more of the seven great swordsmen of the Mist.
  3. Somehow we spent more time on a fleet battle than the extermination of 1/4 of earthbound humanity, and it had less emotional impact. (I felt slightly better about the colony drop after reading that the population of Earth was 2 billion at the time - the other 9 billion of humanity having moved into space colonies already. But still, 500 million people plus the population of a colony is no joke.)
  4. The Polity must be desperate to deploy war fighters based on an open network protocol. Wait, didn’t we just have an ep about the Union taking down the main network hub in Chicago? I’m sorry to see this season come to an end. It was surprisingly watchable.
  5. I finally catch up on this show as it’s run is (temporarily) over? Bummer. The Deku / Bakugo fight was one of my favorite episodes yet. I have a kid who’s working on expressing emotions differently, and seeing Bakugo’s inability to express himself without fighting, and Midoria realizing that and going with it to help his friend, was really powerful. Nicely done, writers.
  6. I’m really enjoying this show - it just got a lot deeper (almost Philip K. Dick) now that we know our protagonist is a backup. Maybe the Union mech’s behavior is what you get if you don’t re-download to a human brain periodically. (At times it’s animated size relative to Polity Chase varied, but whatever.) So can Chase even download now that the ESU lab is destroyed? Along with basically every other character from the show, including Tennant :/ . That felt like an end-of-season-one move; to the point that I’m surprised there’s a “next time on gen:Lock” teaser.
  7. Forgot to mention that I appreciated Mito’s bikini salute to Gurren Lagann, if that’s what it was intended as.
  8. I like that the sexy food daydreams have consistently involved weird hats recently - a guy in a duck hat, and later a merman in a rice cracker hat. Megumi also received some compliments for her work, that was nice to see.
  9. The new credits were amazing, hands down. The ep with the colony drop really laid on the feels (although the random couple they introduced felt slightly forced), but at the same time left me wondering how most of humanity let Zeon amass so much power so quickly. I know it’s a metaphor, etc. (Having watched Lost this summer, I couldn’t help but chuckle that Gundam Origin also had to show me both the Sydney Harbor Bridge and the Opera House, to make sure I knew the drop location was Sydney.)
  10. I’m thinking he must’ve been. So is it a retcon that Char is really Daikun’s son, or was that always the Gundam universe? Because wow, mind blown. Seems like the one year war theoretically would’ve started when the cadets took over the Federation garrison (another case where Casval was super cold to an acquaintance), but really it didn’t start until Zeon shot first in U.C. 0079?
  11. I was thinking the same thing. Sai showing some fight was cool, also the earth style elevator. Zombie Sasori and Daedara seemed way slower on the uptake than their original forms, there’s no way this squad could’ve taken them at that time. I’m going to chalk that up to Kabuto having to split his focus so many ways.
  12. I was really looking forward to a Sasori (my favorite Akatsuki) vs. Kankuro rematch, so that was kind of a letdown. It would’ve been way more epic than Sai vs. “only mostly dead” Shin.
  13. gen:Lock starting next weekend 8/3, or no? It’s not showing on my DVR and I’m planning ahead for a vacation.
  14. Finally caught up, and I think the knight who has the hots for Char (“It’s CAPTAIN Char!”) is the best. This was a long time back, but the ep where Asta is taken over by the dark anti magic power and destroys the magic absorbing diamond kingdom guy was really well animated. It made the normal show look like Ms. Kmieciak’s third grade class did it.
  15. These kids have enough troubles that mentally I think of them as the Starks. I’ll think of some good words for their House if I can ever not chuckle when someone says “spacenoid”. It was cool to see the beginning of be references to NewTypes, as well as the first mobile worker (with umbilical power cables a la Evangelion!). I’ve never really had the Gundam universe straight in my head and this series is really helping.
  16. What I recall is that Ymir was originally a pure Titan, then she accidentally ate Rheiner and Berthold’s friend, becoming one of the nine. I think the clock only started then. The marriage comment was fine, but to me it felt a little like the writers trying to make the show topical. It took me slightly out of the moment just because it seemed they were trying too hard. (Also it’s never been quite clear to me that Historia reciprocates those feelings the same way, but I admit I don’t catch every detail of characterization. ) Ymir is going to flip sides before the end, I am positive.
  17. I hope they show Megumi’s southern-fried friend from home again. Is the North of Japan really that rustic? I’m hoping these cooking tips are real because I want to try them!
  18. I feel like this “the king just got tired of war” story is unlikely. More like he picked a more defensible position. I had missed that we’d seen more than one of this ep’s Titans before. Seems a little coincidental - maybe they were drawn to Grisha somehow?
  19. This is way over the top, I’m curious if it will settle down a bit as well.
  20. “There’s a shortage of perfect bosoms in the world. It would be a shame to damage yours.” Administrator loose in our world is a lot scarier than the Coffin Hunters.
  21. I honestly don’t know Gundam enough to say. At best they are freedom fighters? I feel like their cyclops mechs are intended to make me distrust them, so I’m trying to fight that feeling. This ep: those kids are never seeing their Mom again. Also, it’s surprising that those living on a space colony have never seen the start.
  22. Exposition overload! Not to mention the (literal?) demonization of the Eldians. Although it’s still not clear whose history is true - maybe that’s the point? I was spoilered on this back story, so I’m glad we got it over with in one ep. Still neat to see. I figured the interrogator with the round glasses was the Owl, at least until the other guard stayed up on the wall too long.
  23. Thanks, that post credits scene was cool. They almost got me with the “it’s the wrong key” thing.
  24. I expected Yugeo to save the day somehow, but not as a giant winged sword. Whoah.
