It’s already been a tough week, so it’s pretty disappointing to learn tonight that Comcast dropped Cartoon Network (or raised it to a higher tier; or whatever). I’m probably no longer watching in real time, no matter where I end up streaming from. It’s been fun, folks - I think I’m out.

...and we’re back for season two, in a scary forest, and then rescued by demons. I don’t remember S1E1 being this pretty. Nice job, neverland demonfolk. I’m really looking forward to this season.

This show became an amazing mix of the ridiculous and the sublime. I’ll miss it.

Prior episodes - what I find hardest to believe is that command officers spend so much time including low level troops in their plans. This episode - I like the callback to a much older season. It was Mikasa who saves the girl using an axe, right?

This is sneakily becoming my favorite current show - well before the latest ep’s salute to Evangelion. The kaiju was angel-like, a main character has an eyepatch, armor gets torn off of Gridman, and of course “God’s in His heaven, all’s right in the world.”

Mask girl is my favorite side character to keep an eye out for. She’s the “Glee Neck Brace Cheerleader” of this show. I made my argument on the Toonami thread that Gridman is a lot closer to Big O than Transformers so far.

There’s no Gridman forum, right? I’m enjoying this one with the kids. It’s obviously trying to have Transformers references, but so far it’s feeling a lot more like Big O! I can’t wait to see where it goes from here!

So Toonami just ran the same episode two weeks in a row, right?

This season started oddly, but I smiled for the whole time the Survey Corps was on screen this episode. Even if I now have some sympathy for the Eldians also. It’s been a while but as I recall Eren doesn’t possess the Founding Titan, he just has access to it since he touched Historia once, right? The Marleyan’s have generally good intel, I’m surprised they don’t know this yet. (Or I’m misremembering.)

We’re leaving this show for a while with “System Call: Arm Photon Torpedos”, which feels a bit off somehow. The good news for Kirito at home is that he resembles his Mom (and also that Asuna doesn’t know Alice gets to stay over).

I’m still watching. The squad finishes a mission to China, with a bunch of exposition about the history of the Evangelist - who looks like the Myojin of Cleansing Fire to me. I like that Shinra is willing to take on God if he has to. Random theory: the Edola Burst twilight world is actually the world of the past at the time of the Great Cataclysm - this explains the smoke and the skeletons.

Copy Kirito is the one with the goatee going forward.

That was Erin at the end, right? I’m loving the “infiltrate Marley” angle if so.

So far this season’s doing a reasonable job making me sympathize for Reiner, which is pretty surprising really.

I disagree with the Turtle control room team on this ep. We all know that the biggest problem with speeding up time in a video game ...is when you are running SimCity on highest speed, and a tornado tears through before you can pause 😕 .

Somehow I saw it that Reiner sacrificed himself to save Zeke (I love how that autocorrected to Zeon on this site), but he was in the next ep preview so I got it wrong. It took me a while to remember that for Gaby to become the Armor, she’d have to become a Titan and then eat Reiner. It’s been long enough that I’ve forgotten the rules.

Was she sad at the end because Reiner died, or because the Armored Titan essence was lost? It’s probably supposed to be really strange that the Marleyans have a love hate relationship with the Eldians.

Ok, that’s what I suspected. I’m one of those people who are never clear when is “next Saturday”.

Is SSSS Gridman starting tonight? If so my DVR hasn’t noticed. I told it to record Gemusetto just in case that’s really it.

I hate that Asuna is alternately super strong and determined, or really helpless. The other female characters aren’t like this, it’s obnoxious. Summing up this episode: it took the love of a strong man to bring Kirito back around.

Still watching, although I have no idea who are half the people who’ve showed up to help in the new run of Underworld.

...and we’re back! As are probably all of Kirito’s friends by the time I count ‘em up. I love the craziness of this show, but I’m not sure I would’ve led with Kirito’s little sister in a witch tentacle rape scene. However, maybe now we’ve got it out of our system for the rest of the season. The problem with this show is that I’m always distracted from the underworld part since the RL Scooby Gang is under fire on the Turtle ocean platform. I’m a little too worried about their real lives still.

So was it ever explained why Silver Chariot Requiem was so destructive to life, while Golden Wind Requiem is apparently under control? I don’t really get it - is it implying that Polnareff wasn’t worthy?

Trish and Mista: comedy gold. Glad we still get one more ep of Polnareff, although he doesn’t sound very good. For some reason I thought they would also have swapped stands just to make it more complicated, but that didn’t happen.
