  1. I love Maryanne. She's super sweet and a really great person, but I thought Mike deserved to win. I don't know, it seems things have changed. It used to be about whoever played the best game. It was more about respect than likability. Manipulation is part of the game of Survivor. There was a lot less backbiting and meanness this season, so there's something to be said for that. Survivor is definitely evolving.
  2. Imagine having Rocksroy as your stay-at-home dad. Ok son, stir the noodles counter-clockwise, not clockwise. No, you're tying your shoes wrong. You always put the left lace under the right one. Super control freak...what a nightmare. I'm sure the only dreams his kids have are about the day they're finally able to leave. Strength isn't always the deciding factor in IC's, but Jonathan has given his tribe the edge in more than a few. Aside from his physical stature, I think he's got a good heart and wants to do the right thing. Maryanne is as sweet as the day is long, but it would be a long day. Omar can barely swim. Haven't seen much of Chanelle, but hoping I can add her to the few I'm pulling for this season.
  3. Jenny was my favorite, so I'm a little sick to see her go. How does Chanelle go from, I can't afford to risk my vote, to, doing that very thing moments later? Just an idiotic and stupid decision. Was miffed at Hai's behavior at TC. Not sure what's going on with him, but I'll reserve final judgment until I see how he plays going forward. Someone said Jonathan looked like Aquaman. lol I couldn't agree more. He just willed his tribe to the win.
  4. Well said. Totally agree. I agree with the sentiment about "Do or Die." Getting booted in a game of three-card monte is wrong and not the way to go. I had a pretty strong aversion to Ricard through the first half of the season, but he's grown on me. He's transformed from an antagonistic, standoffish, backbiting prick, to an emotionally calm, relatable, and reasonable guy. He seems happier. I guess because he's no longer among strangers. He's definitely the frontrunner right now.
  5. The Broccoli and Butterfly lines had me cracking up. They're apropos of nothing, and they have to say them at every challenge. Xander, having to say his a second time, played it off very well. I'm sure those not in the know are like, WTF.
  6. I like this season so far. I'm glad the orange tribe won the IC. I don't think it's good when one tribe dominates early in the game. I'm enjoying the IOTI part so far. I thought Sandra & Boston Rob would just be giving council to players arriving, but the "tests" they're putting them through to gain an advantage is intriguing. Also, the staues, busts, monuments (whatever you want to call them) of Sandra & Boston Rob on the beach are enormous. lol FYI: If you have trouble with names & faces like I do, I started opening my laptop to the cast members' page on survivor.com while I'm watching the show. I'm pretty clear on who's who now.
  7. I didn't like Rick in the beginning, but I don't mind him now. I guess it's the lesser of many evils, except for Lauren & Gavin, I don't mind them either. Wise move by Rick to show his idol and bluff, sending Aurora to Extinction. Edge of Extinction looks like a homeless encampment; low spirits & low morale...pretty sad scene. BTW, Survivor went Hollywood and flew Jack Sparrow in to sit on the jury.
  8. That was one of the most satisfying tribal counsels I've seen in a while. I absolutely loved the fact that Rick called out Ron & Julie. I didn't know if after Rick played the expired note Ron gave him, that he could then play his idol. So glad he could. Ron, to me, always gave off a, you shouldn't trust me, vibe. And Aurora, the shamelessness she displayed after getting caught going through Rick's bag was revolting. Seeing her go will be a real pleasure.
  9. Very well said...I couldn't agree more. This made me laugh. I'm right there with you. I'm glad BCS is back. I didn't realize the opening scenes were a dream. (Lonesome Rhodes - thanks for pointing that out) I can't get enough of Mike & Gus. Mike's deadpan humor in the Madrigal breakroom scene had me laughing. He signs the birthday card with, "Reach for the stars!" The scene in the warehouse after Salamanca's stroke reminded everyone of the cold ruthlessness of the cartel. All I could think of in the church funeral scene was "consigliere," with person after person coming to pay their respects to Jimmy.
  10. Amber & Dave: In the second episode they made it a point, and repeated several times that they waited until the honeymoon to have sex. (methinks you dost protest too much) It was obvious that they did it the night of their wedding. It is a pretty tough situation for Dave, with the former boyfriend/gym/friend thing, but I really don't care for him. IMO there's a snowball's chance that they stay together. When they were talking about religion, he suggestively asked if that would be a deal-breaker. Danielle & Bobby: Bobby seems like a nice guy. He's very conservative & traditional, but as someone else said, he's wrapped rather tightly, and I can easily see him turning into a major control freak with Danielle. I think she is wisely taking it slow. I guess they can last as long as he has some flexability. Mia & Tristan: My first impressions of them were, like, wow, they seem soooo immature & childish. After the wedding they were both giggling like schoolchildren. At first Mia seemed demure & sweet, and the last person I would expect to be in trouble with the law, but I'm now in agreement with everyone here that she is shady. Tristan is ok, but when he was talking to the Rev, saying how painful it's been for him, and how much he loves Mia, I just rolled my eyes. They would both be served to exit stage left and leave this experiment behind...the sooner the better.
  11. After watching the "Weddings" episode I thought, 2 good men & 2 good women, but as usually happens, my opinions change as each participant reveals more of themselves. Molly & Jonathan: I thought these 2 were a really good match. Jonathan seems like an all-around good guy. He obviously works out, but I think his physique & physicality are what he wants everyone to notice first & foremost, so much, that it is a defining characteristic of his character & life, and that it might limit his emotional maturation & vulnerability, an important part in a deep connection. Molly is obviously a beautiful woman, but she is being overly cautious. She had the moxy to try this experiment, but it looks like she's frozen in the starting gate. Shawniece & Jephte: I thought Shawniece lacked class after she gave Jephte a lap dance at the reception, but she's shown that she's much more than that. She's really making an effort to connect and do whatever it takes to make it work, showing great patience. I really liked Jephte in the beginning, and I think he can still prove to be worthy of Shawniece, but he's got to stop blocking her at every turn. He seems like a deep, balanced individual, but he's most definitely a mama's boy and has rigid boundaries. Also, maybe he's a virgin? Could be. Jaclyn & Ryan: I don't think Jaclyn was emotionally ready for this, although up until the final part of last night's episode, she's been doing everything one could ask of a partner, and then some. She just seems like a genuinely sweet and caring person and unfortunately, the matchmakers made a huge error in pairing her with Ryan. Ryan, what to say? This guy is a certified goofball. At the wedding and the honeymoon, all I could hear him say was my bride, my wife, not calling her by her name, like he's taking possession of her. She can do far better than him.
  12. That was as good of a Survivor premiere as I've seen in a while. I liked the fact that the first immunity stipulated that it could only be used in the first TC, although I think Chrissy made a mistake in not playing it. She basically let a possible ally go without a peep. Alan's paranoia in the Heroes Tribe was more than a little disturbing. The first thing I thought of, after learning that he played in the NFL for 9 years, was CTE. He's definitely got some issues, and everyone knows that that sort of behavior is a death knell in Survivor. I definitely like the fact that they chose many cast members who seem to be of high-quality character. I hate it when I'm looking for my rooting interests during the first few episodes and all I see are snakes and rats. So far so good.
  13. Enjoyed reading that. Very well done.
  14. Mike is a pro's pro, and no one puts one over on him, unless, of course, that person is Gus Fring. Saying Fring has all his bases covered is an understatement. Nothing gets past Gus. I'm looking forward to seeing how these two mix it up this season. Professionally, Jimmy and Kim are on opposite ends of the spectrum, but she's proven that she's loyal and will tow the line for a friend. Unfortunately, there will be a breaking point, and I just wonder how long it will be. Chuck is a turd. He selfishly denigrates and persecutes his own brother out of petty rivalry. How can anyone say that Chuck's actions were justified? He was fine with Jimmy working in the copy room, but his refusal to even entertain the idea of his brother working as a lawyer for HHM is patronizingly petty. Their relationship reminds me of a quote I love from James Baldwin: "We can disagree and still love each other unless your disagreement is rooted in my oppression and denial of my humanity and right to exist."
