  1. I recently read the Chip and Joanna signed with a Hollywood Talent Agency. All of their moves continue to make a joke of their supposed reason for leaving Fixer Upper - “wanting to spend more time with their family.” https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/chip-joanna-gaines-sign-uta-2020-tv-network-launch-1230604
  2. New to this forum, and I’ve been binge watching all four seasons of Good Bones (I’m up to midway through the 4th season at the moment). I’ve learned that a little of Karen at a time goes a long way - she’s not made for binge watching! Anyway, I have a question and apologize if it’s been covered in this forum before. The project manager guy, Cory Miller - why is he called Cory sometimes and Toby sometimes? Last night I watched an episode from early in season 4 where Tad called him Toby, and Mina called him Toby in one scene and Cory in another. I’m sure there’s a reasonable explanation, but I can’t figure it out!
  3. Saw a news story this morning about James replying to a 5-year-old who wrote him a letter. Cool story: https://www.localsyr.com/amp/news/local-news/5-year-old-from-wny-receives-reply-letter-from-former-jeopardy-champ-james-holzhauer/2080630178
  4. Or Uma Thurman, Ayn Rand, and Yma Sumac! Mr. Booney and I are crossword fanatics so we ran that category. I swear that "obi" is in every crossword puzzle in the world every day. 🙂
  5. Same here - not sorry to see Emma go. I was rooting for Salome...or Salom...or however it’s spelled!
  6. Alex was in rare form tonight, dissing Emma in an off-handed way. First, in the intro, after he talked about Emma being a “giant killer” and beating James, he brought up Nancy Zerg, reminded everyone that she only lasted one game after beating Ken, and said, “Let’s see what happens tonight.” It sounded smarmier than it reads here. Emma, who is rather expressionless, actually worked up an expression and shot him a not-so-pleasant look. Later in the game, Emma bet it all on a DD and Alex said, “Oh, you’re following James!” to which Emma worked up another expression and gave Alex the stink eye. She seemed peeved that he assumed she was emulating James and not following her own strategy. I’m not warming up to her yet, but the stink eye was definitely her own strategy and well deserved!
  7. Different strokes and all that jazz, but I'm dreading the eventual return to the "regular show." I hope I'm wrong but if I had to wager, I'd bet that future contestants will return to the old style of playing - start at the top, work your way down, and bet timidly on DDs. For me, that will seem deadly boring after watching James' style of play. I'm not looking forward to it.
  8. I cringed when Alex said to the middle guy at the start of Double Jeopardy something along the lines of, “you really didn’t do very well in the first round.” Oof - thanks for rubbing it in, Captain Obvious.
  9. Thanks for the tip, @Abstract. Hopefully the fans and the haters can continue to coexist peacefully on this thread too!
  10. I think I'm in the minority here now but I'm still a James fan, and continue to be impressed with the depth and breadth of his knowledge. I guess if you know a little German (I don't) this question might have been easy - "This African country is known in German as Elfenbeinküste" - but I didn't have a clue and was blown away that he knew it was Ivory Coast (among all the other answers that he knew!). I thought it interesting that, when he got the DD in the Fill in Their Dates category, he said it was a hard category and so he bet a mere $5,000.
  11. Did anyone else think that Nate looks a lot like Artie Lange (well, a younger Artie Lange before he blew out his nose and became the even hotter mess he is right now)? I was kind of mesmerized by the similarity.
  12. I feel the same way. At the start of last night's double jeopardy round, I noticed that the woman, who went first, started at the top of a category, and the guy followed suit. Not smart - this didn't make any sense given how they had seen James play in the first round (and maybe in previous games). If any contestant wants to have a chance against James, they've got to adopt his strategy (besides needing to be well prepared and fast on the buzzer). If they don't, well, that's on them.
  13. Another James fan here - I’m really enjoying his run and hope he smashes some more records. There was an Op Ed by Ken Jennings in yesterday’s WaPo explaining why he’s rooting for James: https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/ken-jennings-why-im-rooting-for-james-holzhauer-on-jeopardy/2019/05/19/011e4056-798b-11e9-bd25-c989555e7766_story.html?utm_term=.52b361e1e78c
  14. The site’s been in and out this morning, so this may be a temporary thing, but all of the content in my PM threads is suddenly missing (11:25 a.m. on 2/24). It shows page numbers, but when I click on a page, the content is blank.
  15. On a broader scale, this is one of my biggest problems with the show. Didn’t any of these characters have people in their lives before they met each other? Were they all hermits? Didn’t they have any other friends? Why do Gary and Maggie have to run errands for everyone - for example, doesn’t Gina know anyone else who can deliver food to Katherine? It’s not like the guys were lifelong friends. They met in an elevator, what - a few years ago? They’ve all apparently lived in a bubble until they met each other. This is bizarre to me.
  16. When I click on the quote symbol to quote someone’s post, I’m taken to the top of the page. I then have to scroll down to the bottom of the page to the reply box. The quote is already there in the reply box, so I’m not sure why it’s jumping to the top of the page. I’m using in IPad.
  17. I agree with your thoughts on the character, and the actress. Even though it irks me that we’re supposed to embrace the character of Delilah, the actress is even more problematic for me. She’s really pretty awful - very one-dimensional, not showing much (any?) range. There’s been discussion here about her in-and-out French accent so I won’t belabor the point, but this drives.me.crazy. I don’t get it either why she was cast, particularly since the rest of the cast is pretty good and fit well with their roles. I don’t think she has chemistry with any of the other actors, which is glaring in a show that is presumedly all about the chemistry within this supposedly tight knit group. She’s a dud, and she’s dragging the show down for me.
  18. I watched episodes 6 and 7 tonight, so I’m caught up. And now I’m officially hate-watching this show. My list of pet peeves is long, but #1 on my list is Delilah. The world’s worst widow. The world’s most disengaged mother (and she’s having another kid!). Television’s messiest hair - can she comb her hair in at least one episode? When I’m so annoyed that I’m looking away from the show to watch an insipid host sell a foot massager on QVC, you know it’s bad.
  19. We're getting an Aldi in my neighborhood too. It's a brand new shopping center, and the grocery store was supposed to be a Fresh Market, but for some reason they pulled out of their lease. Aldi will take over the space. I've never been in one and I suppose I will check it out, but I'm firmly wedded to my large chain grocery store that I shop in weekly. Their prices are good, the variety is huge, they double coupons, they have a ton of their own digital coupons, and almost every week in their circular, they have a coupon for $8.00 off if you spend $75 or more. I like one-stop grocery shopping. My late father-in-law used to compare prices and go to different stores to get the best deals - produce here, meat there, that store was having a sale on detergent, etc. Not me - get 'er all done in one store, one trip.
  20. Yes - an apartment there is a fabulous idea! I can't even begin to describe the charm of Colmar. Cobblestone streets, a bustling shopping area with everything from upscale clothing stores to wonderful specialty shops, and my favorite, the Hall du Marche Couvert, which was a large indoor food market with stalls selling everything from the most beautiful fresh produce and meats, to chocolates, to pastries. Speaking of pastries, when our tour finished, we had some free time in the city. So Mr. Booney and promptly went to a Patisserie where we sat outdoors on the cobblestone plaza eating French pastry, sipping French coffee and watching the world go by. I could get used to that! We were expecting the cold shoulder, but they were actually really happy to see us!
  21. After a fabulous 10 day “Booneymoon,” we arrived home tonight. Our flight out of Basel, Switzerland was delayed and, as a result, we had a mad dash at London’s Heathrow Airport to make our connecting flight. We just made it, but were told our luggage probably wouldn’t. But it did - life is good! We had an amazing time. River cruises are a wonderful way to travel. We would do another one in a heartbeat. Our last full day was yesterday, and we spent it in Colmar, a small city of 66,000 in the Alsace region of France. It’s called “the prettiest city in the world” and I can see why - it was gorgeous. So many photo ops, so little time. Here are just a few of the sights. We missed our kitties and were happy to see them when we got home. Now I need a couple of days to settle back into my regular routine!
  22. The wine choices at our onboard dinner last night were Alsatian wines - delicious! We’re in the Alsace region again today. For our excursion, Mr. Booney and I opted for a walking tour of a town called Colmar, which is described as the “prettiest town in the world.” I should have some great pictures to post tonight. We end the cruise tomorrow morning in Basel, Switzerland. We’re not staying on so we won’t get to see much of Basel. We fly from Basel to London and then on to Philadelphia. If flight times hold, we should Thanks, @seasons! I’ve thought about blogging. Now that I’m sliding into retirement, it might be a fun thing to do in my increasing spare time!
  23. Bonjour! We are in France today - in Strasbourg - and it is magnifique! I had French class from the 3rd grade all the way through my senior year in high school. I’m not very good at speaking it after all these years, but I’m amazed at how many words and sentences I can still read in French. Strasbourg is in the Alsace region of France, but it has changed hands (mostly through wars) between the French and Germans several times. It’s currently the seat of the European Parliament of the EU. The citizens speak a dialect that is a combination of French and German. The city is very cosmopolitan yet has an old world charm. Like Amsterdam, it’s also a city of canals. As part of our tour here, we took a canal boat ride around the heart of the city. Below are some random snapshots of beautiful Strasbourg.
  24. Mr. Booney is more than happy to nap while I post pictures - of course, he would nap anyway, lol. ??
