Meet You On The Other Side: TV After The Pandemic
Luckylyn replied to angora's topic in Everything Else TV
They should bring back old canceled soaps for reruns. -
Characters who eat tons of junk, never exercise, but are slim. Gilmore Girls I know one person in real life with metabolism problems who eats a ton and struggles not to lose weight. So It’s possible but not for the majority of people. It’s also a feature of the Cool Girls trope. A girl who can eat whatever and have a sexy body with no effort. There’s pressure for a woman to look fit but she can’t appear to be making an effort to look that way or she’s accused of being high maintenance.

Don never knew that Pete was the man Peggy had slept with. He never asked and she never volunteered the information. He only knew about the pregnancy. I remember Peggy telling Don that her mother assumed Don was her baby’s father because he was the only one who visited her in the hospital. I really enjoyed the Don and Peggy friendship. Those two had some of my favorite scenes from the show. I hated when they were at odds. I also hated the way the Don/Joan friendship fell apart. I enjoyed the episode when Don took Joan out for drinks to cheer her up over her divorce. Don also had a strong platonic bond with Anna. She was probably his strongest and most honest relationship. Don could be a huge jerk but at times he could be a great friend. Joan and Pete had an interesting dynamic. I remember Joan saying he was the only one who never broke a promise to her. They seemed to have a bit of a friendship but we didn’t see it often.

Atlanta’s Missing and Murdered: The Lost Children
Luckylyn replied to Luckylyn's topic in HBO Documentaries
I have been watching. It’s a story I read about in I think Vanity Fair a while ago. I only had a vague knowledge and appreciate the depth of the docuseries. It’s a story that should be more well known. -
“Atlanta's Missing And Murdered: The Lost Children is a five-part documentary series offering an unprecedented look at the abduction and murder of at least 30 African-American children and young adults in Atlanta between 1979 and 1981. Forty years later, with the official re-opening of the case by Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms, the series tells the inside story of this shocking tragedy, shedding new light on the horrific killings through exclusive archival material as well as interviews with those closest to the children and investigation.”

Every time Christopher Russell has been cast to play the lead I haven’t seen any chemistry between him and his love interest. When he plays supporting characters, I can enjoy him but he doesn’t work for me as a romantic lead. There was another movie he did with Autumn Reeser and, I didn’t see a spark there either which surprised me because I usually like Autumn Reeser movies . I know it’s subjective though. Nature of Love wasn’t terrible but I was board. I ended up fast forwarding. I just couldn’t get into it. I thought I would enjoy it because I’m vaguely interesting in Glamping. I know myself well enough to know I’m too inlove with my comforts to do regular camping and really rough it.

Manic Pixie Dream Girl The Misuse if Manic Pixie Dream Girl I see Jack from Titanic as a Manic Pixie Dream Boy. He supports Rose’s story and doesn’t have his own arch. Can anyone else think of male examples? For me what makes a character a Manic Pixie is whether the character stands on their own or only works relation to the development to the lead character. Does the character have depth or do they seem like a checklist of a personality? I do think some characters are unfairly labeled as Manic Pixies.

I’m curious about Soap Operas. I know they shoot months in advance so they have tons of material for a while. How long before they run out if episodes since production is shut down? I wonder if they are going to start stretching things by editing in lot’s of flashbacks . Maybe show some classic episodes. -

Except Gwen. Everyone suffers and dies. Jack suffers forever but Gwen gets a happy ending. Am I bitter? Yup.

The Business: News, Rumours, Analysis, and More
Luckylyn replied to sdpfeiffy's topic in Everything Else Movies
I wasn’t sure what thread my question belonged in. To be eligible for nominations movies require a theatrical release but because of Coronavirus theaters are closed. So is there any gossip about The Academy adjusting the rules so movies can be eligible through streaming without theater requirement? I know there’s been controversy within the industry over Netflix. -

The idea of this family trapped together in quarantine is really fascinating. I wish this was a real sequel idea. I think in general it would be a cool murder mystery where no one can leave because of quarantine but there’s a killer among them.

I remember how awesome the 7th Heaven Recaps were at TWOP. There was a time I stopped liking the show but continued watching because the recaps made it worth it. -
