  1. So I finally watched this episode all the way through. I echo alot of the statements already made here. That whole kitchen scene/whipping off her bra/and the aftermath was difficult and strange to watch. She's manipulative af, and her reaction to basic boundary setting is disturbing. Her self-centeredness knows no bounds. I recently started watching the show from the beginning. In the first season, her friends showered her with selfless compliments; she would give the shirt off her back (probably quite literally), she is a great listener, a great friend, will do anything for someone. The No Body Shame campaign was the central to her life - if perhaps a bit misguided - and dancing was her passion. Juxtapose to what we see now. I believe that this season we are seeing the REAL Whitney. The fame has gone straight to her ego, which was already a big over inflated to begin with. With the endless adoration from friends and fans, which feeds her desperate need for validation, her No Body Shame and confident act of the first seasons are a joke now. She has become a caricature of her former self. Her complete dismissal of Buddy's feelings doesn't reflect that season one supposed "friend of the year" winner. Sure, we all change and relationships change, but not that dramatically. I'm not a psychologist and have had my own issues with depression. But I recognize when someone is not in a good place. This show needs to end, for the health of herself and her relationships with others. Carry on on social media, but this platform is not healthy for her. I would say it's not healthy for any of them, but that's besides the point. I thinks she needs to get back to the dancing and -while I have my own issues with a No Body Shame campaign - it would behoove her to return to that but with re-tooling the mission. Have no body shame but do your best nutritionally, exercise wise, and mental health wise to maximize all your body CAN do. That might be a show worth watching.
  2. For a man who didn't know if he wanted kids in Paris, he seems downright giddy and most certainly excited about having this baby. I do applaud his attitude towards impending fatherhood - he knows he has a responsibility and is going to do whatever he can for his child. So yeh, he wanted kids, just NOT with YOU, Whitney. It is also very telling that they only time he got really emotional was when he was talking about the hate he has gotten on social media. Not when he allegedly destroyed Whitney's future. Only when it is affecting his REAL life. Otherwise he is full milquetoast/holding in a giant laugh.
  3. Amen regarding Georgia's singing. She's not bad, but it sounds so put on, unnatural, etc. And does she just have that one song? If not, all of her songs sound the same and that ain't good.
  4. This is the first installment of BD that I have watched but I have heard of Captain Lee and at least Kate, and in all honesty, am really just watching for the gorgeous scenery. That water! Jenna and Adam's behavior is horrible and would never fly in a workplace. I have worked with people like Jenna - petty, vindictive, talk shit behind your back and never takes ownership of their own words or actions. Eventually shit catches up to them. I hope her and Adam's behavior catches up to them this season and bites their asses. Anyone know if they are still together irl?
  5. One phrase comes to mind watching that after show: side eye. Ashley, Heather, Buddy, Glen, Ryan, Tal, Todd, probably Henchi. It seems like none of them believe in this grand romance, and display outward hostility towards it. Tal, especially, spoke like once, but was giving all sorts of eye shade. No one, NO ONE, wants to hear about their parents' sex lives, or discuss it on national tv. I'm really over Babs at this point, and agree with many of you that her health is not in the best condition. Part of it is the aging process and diagnoses, but her general personality is getting off putting, and I've never really had an issue with her before. I didn't finish watching it because I was cringing so hard. When I eventually turned the after show off, I said, "Ew, no. Come on show, that's gross". The proposal was so poorly acted. Chase still looks like he is going to hurl when he is around Whitney and has the personality of a wet noodle. He's a terrible actor. No Emmy for you Chase! If Whitney made it up those steps in 45 minutes, then I am ready for a marathon. There is no way. Gaelle was beautiful and carried herself so well. She also had such a lovely voice. The dancing was dumb. Same moves over and over and over again. Like always. On a much needed positive note, at least she wore clothes for most of the trip. That's about as nice a compliment as I can give. I appreciate everyone's observations and comments. I'm glad I'm not alone in watching this train wreck. Stay well everyone!
  6. Oh my word, y'all. I am a healthcare worker in a senior living facility so as you can imagine, it's pretty tense right now (as it is for a lot of people). I was looking forward to a respite, seeing the French countryside and a bit of Paris. Holy crap. All I could see were Whitney's bouncing ta-tas. I can't get over how completely disinterested Casey looks. During the baby discussion, he was looking at her with disgust. Disgust. Maybe he is uncomfortable with the cameras filming what is a delicate, awkward convo to begin with (if it was actually real and not acted), but he looked at her like he never wants kids with her. Whether he would with someone else 5 or 10 years from now is a discussion for another day, but he doesn't seem to want them with Whitney. Ever. During the smushed car ride from hell, Chase was still quiet. I wonder if more happened off camera that we didn't see. Or this whole shitshow is absolutely scripted and the producers told Chase, "Give us your best pouty face. Hold it for the next three days and look like you are miserable at a champagne vineyard". What a wasted trip on these yahoos. I would give a pinky for a chance to go to Paris and ride a bike to a beautiful vineyard and stare at Maxime. I have a feeling that in Whitney and Chase's come to Jesus conversation next week featured on the preview Chase will suddenly say, "I'm sorry. I do want kids with you. 4 kids to be exact. All named Whitney." and that's how we get the cheesy proposal. The workout was absolute shit. She barely moves! Not to mention, if these workouts are designed with Whitney sized people in mind, they can't do that weird star jump thing Gautier was doing. You can't go from slow arm punches to jumping 8 feet in the air. What the hell!? What is the point of them doing this in Paris? I can't imagine this would help build their brand globally at all. The only ones in the US that are funding their mis-venture must be her die hard fans. So many questions. I need some champagne.
  7. Someone at TLC is having way too much fun coming up with the most snarktastic episode titles. I know it's supposed to pertain to her weightlifting, but come on! lol
  8. Why, oh why, is this two hours long? If you cut out 60% of the fitness competition and pretty much the entire segment of Whitney and Buddy saying goodbye to the House of Blackout Memories, you could easily shorten this down. These peoples' lives are just not that interesting! Honestly, I have never gotten the vibe from Buddy that his true feelings for Whitney are anything but platonic. Any awkward romantic interaction or exchange on film is strictly for filming and probably producer driven. If they indeed "crossed the flesh hold" (shudder) several years ago, he was most likely very drunk and does not remember. I'm pretty positive he also regrets if anything happened, as he has been embarrassingly reminded every season of this one drunken night that may or may not have happened! Not exactly the romantic tryst Whit makes it out to be. At this point, he also just seems like a lost puppy moocher. Get yourself together Buddy! However, I think that Whitney was in love with Buddy and continues to have feelings for him in a romantical sense. The way she snuggled (ahem smothered) him on the couch at the Greensboro house and at her townhouse, and how she was crying about Buddy moving away from her, reads to me that she is still holding a torch for him. If he suddenly matured and realized his true feelings for her and declared his love, she would drop Chase. Chase's interrogation of Buddy about his feelings for Whitney is so scripted. In fact, all of this is so scripted, it's painful. I still don't think Ryan or Chase have noble intentions, and see $ signs and 15 minutes of fame. If Whit and Chase actually go through with a wedding, I will be shocked. I guess we will just have to see what those crazy writers have in store for us!
  9. Welcome back to this shitshow! If the producers' intention is to portray realistic situations, conversations, and genuine people, they are failing miserably. This show has always felt at least a twinge scripted. After last night's show, I believe they might be aiming to win an Emmy for Best Comedy. Chase and Ryan read as so thirsty. There is no way that Ryan saw Whitney on a "dating app" and did not see $ signs. I don't know how successful he was in the fitness industry prior to yoking professionally with Whit, but he probably determined that working with someone with a multi season television show was a smart move on his part. He seems nice, but also like he's putting on a show and disingenuous. I just can't buy in to this instant friendship. Her Greensboro friends can bitch and moan how they don't see or even hear from Whitney anymore but phones work both ways. If they have been all friends, for the most part, since high school, it is natural for some of them to eventually move away from their hometown, start a business elsewhere, make new friends, etc etc. That's what happens by the time you reach your mid 30s! It's time for all of them to mature past high school. I'm not letting Whitney completely off the hook for the dissolving friendships, but people grow up and move on. I was irritated by her insinuation that Buddy left the convo when she started to talk about Chase because he is just oh so jealous and can't handle Whitney being senshul with another man. Maybe he took it upon himself to watch Harper as she was toddling around with who knows what level of supervision. Buddy seemed to enjoy interacting with the baby. It's not all about you Whitney! The conversation between Whitney, Jessica and the other trainers is the most honest conversation we have ever heard, and will probably ever hear, about Whitney's eating habits. Yeh, you can work out or lift weights for hours but if you eat like shit (or just eat once a day - major eyeroll) you are not going to see the results you will want to see. Whitney has at her disposal all the resources in the world to formulate a healthy eating plan does not let her spiral into an eating disorder. She could order a meal service, see a nutritionist, hire a personal chef, and she has multiple trainers at her beck and call. All the resources! She does not have a regular 9 to 5 job, children or otherwise major commitments that prevent her from figuring out a sensible diet. If she really want to see her abs of steel, she needs to work with a professional to develop a eating plan that works and will help you get the ripped results you want. Ay yi yi, it's only the first episode.
  10. Not surprised with Laci and Wade going home. I am still astounded they had gotten this far. I am pulling for an Alejandro win but I don't think that's going to happen. He is clearly very talented and I appreciate his unique sound, but he is not as marketable to the American Idol audience as Laine or Madison. However Laine bores the heck out of me. A couple of weeks ago I enjoyed a few of his performances, but now I'm like thank you, next. I know the judges have talked about Madison emotionally connecting to the song she is singing, but to me Laine shows no connection. It's like he knows he is a teen heartthrob and thinks his looks will carry him to a win. Unfortunately if the vote is up to America's teen girls, he will. Madison obviously has the strongest voice of the three left, and she has beautiful control. However, I find that a bit boring. When you listen to her sing, you know at some point in the song she will belt out a couple of big notes - we know it's going to happen and everyone in the AI audience will go nuts and scream their adoration. It's what you come to expect from her and she has not "pushed" herself to go beyond that or explore her voice in other ways. So Laine will win... Interesting tidbit - I actually heard Twin Shadow open for Florence and the Machine several years ago, and wasn't all that impressed. Funny to see him pop up in this episode.
  11. Wade should have been gone. Period. I haven't minded his past performances as much, but last night he was downright awful. Would have swapped Wade for Walker. I did not mind Alyssa going at all; as I have said for awhile, she already thinks she is a pop star and that made her come off as smug and entitled. To me, I could easily find someone with her voice in the local high school's a Capella group. The audio was all over the place tonight as well and made some singers hard to hear. How come the producers or whomever have not figured that out yet? No one has told them? I'm still no fan of Laci. During her duet with Laine, she sounded like she was really straining to get any power in her voice, and it sounded off. During her solo, I couldn't understand every other word. Some of the audience must enjoy her obviously, but she's not my cup of tea. This was actually one of the few weeks that I have actually enjoyed Laine. I'm still not fully on the Laine Train, but maybe I'm freighthopping?
  12. This show was alot to unpack. I found the first few quite underwhelming and am still scratching my head over Evelyn going through. Wrong song choice, and I can't understand a word she is saying. At least she supposedly knows she sounds "odd". You can own your oddness all you want, but she doesn't hold a candle to some of the other vocalists in this competition, male or female. Good bye Evelyn! (said like Ken Todd). I feel life Alyssa is playing a part. She has this smugness about her, where she thinks she deserves this; not an attractive quality in a 17-year-old. The song was absolutely too mature for her, and I feel like she was going for a crowning glory moment, where we all realize that she is a Disney pageant princess come to life (ahem, outfit choice), and should just be bestowed the American Idol sash regardless of other more talented people in the competition. She just doesn't blow me away. Can you tell? :) I thought Madison, Jeremiah, and (holy shit) Uche did great. I would like to hear Uche take on some Prince if he hasn't already. He is different, but is an entertainer. Maybe his vocals aren't the greatest, but he is a showman. I like Ashley but I would like to her to change it up a bit. She has a technically beautiful voice and gorgeous control, but in the field where people are playing multiple instruments, being their own damn personal DJ, or dancing with seemingly impossibly flexible limbs, maybe she needs to jump out a bit more? I don't know. There's more, but I am still trying to decipher what Lacy was singing last night through her hair. It was super voluminous.
  13. At the risk of waking my baby, I actually yelled "what!?!" when they called Evelyn first. I just don't get it. She might have some marketing appeal, but her voice is like listening to someone trying to sing underwater. When reading through comments over on Facebook, the majority of commenters seem to be chomping at the bit to vote her off. We'll see how she does with America's voting. I had no idea who Lukas Graham was until tonight. I had heard the 7 Years song on the radio but never matched it with a face. Include me in the camp that was pleasantly surprised by his interactions and advice for the contestants. However, if I was Lukas, observing how Eddie Island was prancing around the stage during the song, I would've popped him with a microphone. I think that song deserved a more serious rendition, and more serious contestant. I liked Ryan but I think he most benefitted from his duet partner. Cynthia Erivo is AMAZING!
  14. When Shawn said that, I knew it was going to go downhill quickly, even though Elle tried to accommodate. You can't just sing one type of song; you have to be able to have a range, particularly in this competition where week to week you will be singing different styles. Sure, you can lean towards ballads or slow tempo as a specialty, but if that's all you can do, I don't think you'll get far. That's especially if you are in competition with some seriously good singers that can competently sing various styles.
  15. Nope, you are not the only one. I went to college for music, have sang in multiple venues, have had ear and vocal training, and think her voice would benefit from some coaching if she isn't already doing that. She doesn't articulate and has this airy, breathy quality that is unpleasant to listen to. I don't mind it as much when she is singing with her sister, but on her own... I think she does have some bare bones talent, so if the actress wants to sing after Nashville has bit the dust, she's going to need to work on it.
