  1. That's interesting. I had commented before that it didn't seem like the twins were spending as much money as the other teams, up to the week when they put in the solar panels and batteries. I attributed it to their wanting to save their pennies for that power move. This method of supply procurement certainly would've helped.
  2. Yep, I saw it and completely agree about the twins. So glad they left most of their antics out of the regular episodes. They would get on my last nerve if I had to be around that behavior much.
  3. No one will ever convince me that janky hammock "adds value." Likewise, that ugly, dysfunctional table abscess in the Bs' kitchen. Between that and the curved wall, they made the kitchen look small and cramped. Actually, other than the ceiling in the living room, I didn't like their kitchen/living/dining area. All the opened doors and windows during the walk-throughs made me think bugs, bugs, bugs. Aesthetically, overall, I liked the twins' house the least. And there're things I'd have to fix if I bought it - the pool, the wine cooler. I mean, I don't drink, and I'd imagine I'm not the only one in the world who doesn't, so what would I do with that space? Display my Coke bottles? But, obviously they won because of the solar panels and batteries. That was a very smart move, one I think they were planning from the start given their spending in the rooms previous. On that alone, I think they deserved the win. Based on overall design, though, I'd have given it to the guys. They did indeed elevate their game from their last season.
  4. So the Bs essentially move in some furniture, sparse furnishings at that, and do an okay bathroom... and win? Alrighty then. If that was meant to be a guest/craft room, it looked mightily uncomfortable for guests, what with that tiny bed and lack of storage. Again, the guys got robbed. They really transformed their room, and in a way that kept it perfectly comfortable for guests and no activities taking place in it that would make them feel like they were putting out their hosts. I liked the idea of caramel grout. It fit with the design - I don't think Mr. B or Mitch have artist's eyes. - and white grout doesn't stay white for long. I'd have given them the win, with the twins coming in second. The other two teams just moved in stuff. They didn't transform those rooms. At this point, I'm a'feared the fix is in on this show, and it isn't for the guys.
  5. This was a really hard week to judge. They had to cooperate on the exteriors of the buildings, and they all did pretty much the same things with the landscaping. Likewise, the balconies. And those postage stamps of docks... I dunno, if I was trying to get out of my boat, probably loaded down with stuff, I wouldn't want a lot of things on my tiny dock getting in my way. That hammock is a "showstopper"? Really, Paige and Mitch? Really? Did love the guys' glass light fixture and thought they should get extra credit for being the only team to actually make their art feature. I guess I would've given the win to the Bs. The solar panels do seem to be the biggest value add and probably will help the twins in the long run, but their design otherwise was pretty meh. I've felt that way about their designs all season. (This week made me wonder if they've been planning the solar panels all season and have been saving their money for that instead of stellar design.) I liked the fireplace on the Bs' balcony, and the pergola. It gives a bit of privacy, at least. This week, you could really see how close the other neighbors are to these two houses. I'd feel like I was in a fishbowl anytime I was on my dock or in my pool. When I was a kid, I went on a class trip to Florida and absolutely hated the weather. It was oppressively hot, and it was only early June, and it rained every night. I don't know how typical that is for Florida, but I think of that, and hurricane season, every time I see all this stuff these houses have outside. I'm sure Floridians have contingencies for this, but it doesn't seem practical to me. I have visions of that pretty glass light fixture flailing about in the wind, and that sculpture and potted trees, not to mention all those pillows on that stupid hammock, landing in the drink. Mind you, that might be a better place for that sculpture...
  6. I get that, but looking at it from a potential buyer's standpoint? Bug screens seem an easy add, while reorienting your pool could be pricier.
  7. Yes, and I'd just love to be in my outdoor shower when the neighbors step onto their balcony. I can't even with the judging this season. The only con the guys got was there was no art on the wall - Something any buyer can deal with easy-peasy, and might even prefer to select their own art. - and they don't win? While the twins, whose pool is oriented the wrong way, do? I mean, what adds more value, bug screens or a correctly oriented pool? Truly Bizarro World. In terms of function and style, I think the guys had it by a mile over the other teams this week. Between this week and the week they were double winners, they're getting screwed over this season. I'll be optimistic and think they're just trying to instill extra surprise in we viewers when the guys win the season.
  8. That outside shower was ridiculous. Their original plan was to screen in the balcony so folks wouldn't get eaten by mosquitos. Then they see the twins putting in what they thought was a hot tub, and outside shower it is! Sure. The mosquitos will stay away from that. Not to mention, you can't get to it from outside. If you're going to have to traipse through the house to get to it, you might as well use the bathroom that's right there. If they had to have it, they should've saved it for the ground level by the pool. I thought for sure they'd get dinged for it. Silly me. Likewise for that cluttered mishmash of a closet. It was ugly and lacking in useful closet storage. As to the blonde woman and her husband, they carve out a small (comparatively) closet, because it's Florida - I guess Floridians don't have junk. - but they saved room in it for a champagne bar. Useful! [ /sarcasm] Next week they're moving outside. Are they really out of inside areas to design already?
  9. It's no Chandelier, that's for sure. That's what happens when they go for the cheap talent.
  10. I keep hoping Ms. Wu monkeyed with those test results, against Curtis's wishes. Why she'd do it, I don't know. I just want Taggert to be Trina's bio dad, but, as with much on this show, I'm guessing I'm so out of luck.
  11. The best Michael ever was the one who hated Sonny for murdering AJ, but that lasted for a nanosecond. Now it's AJ who? GH really is its own Bizarro World. Maybe the new HWs can rotate its axis at least slightly. Maybe being the operative word.
  12. I'd really prefer he was AJ's long lost son, who hated Jason, Sonny, Carly, et al., but if wishes were horses and all that. Besides, AJ was fat, so...
  13. It did. I believe Levi blew it up. Maybe? Far be it from me to defend this show, but they did explain about the raft. Ty said the villagers kept some down by the stream, river, whatever the heck it was. My question was why they thought they were gonna get anywhere faster using it as slowly as they were moving. They should've just walked. This show could've been so good, but it's just another high concept premise the showrunners didn't know what to do with beyond the first few eps. Six episodes to finish it all up and we need new characters like Gavin's sister and all that drama? She looks so much like Izzy, when she first appeared I thought maybe she was an aged-up Izzy who got lost somehow in another time. I would've like that better, I think.
  14. Cosigned. I can't ever look at him without seeing Coast Guard Rapist.
  15. Feud: Capote vs. The Swans - Zac Posen Breaks Down Those Masquerade Looks
  16. If possible, I think Spinelli is less mature now than he was 10 years ago. Unlike him, while she's had some stumbles, as do we all, Maxie has moved forward in her life. If I were Maxie/her actress, I'd be insulted and dismayed if they pair her with Spinelli again, especially this iteration of Spinelli. He's not a man; he's a child. (Besides, he's really in love with Jason.) It seems like they've given up on Maxie as a character worthy of real storylines, but maybe the new HWs will do better for her.
  17. My thought was, of course, Olivia knows exactly how you feel. It's not been that long since Noah was missing, but how quickly they forget. As to Rollins, I think the show has done a decent job over the years showing she has an affinity or an innate understanding of this kind of criminal, so I could believe her leaving SVU to go to school as a student, but as a professor? That is to laugh. If I were a gambler, I would bet money on her doing that till Maddie is found. This could be a great set-up for Benson coming to some realizations about her failings, that she's not perfect, she can't solve every case, etc. etc., her Adena Watson, if you will, but, no, they won't go that route. This ain't Homicide, after all. It'll be all about her guilt and her struggle to find Maddie, not about Maddie or her parents, and her no doubt heroics when she does find her. I just hope it won't happen on a crossover with OC, because even Carisi won't get me to watch that one. Sorry, NBC.
  18. Welp, between that and the treatment of Nina, guess GH and I are breaking up again.
  19. Oh, I wasn't quibbling with its placement on the list or its inclusion at all. I was surprised, because I wasn't expecting to see a soap on the list, but if they were to include one, it had to be GH exactly for the reasons given. Luke and Laura were, and are, a cultural phenomenon. My local TV news station even runs a bit of a joke about them on their promos these days.
  20. Variety magazine has compiled a list of the 100 Greatest TV Shows of All Time (English language shows, anyway.) It's the usual sort of thing, with glaring omissions (Homicide didn't make the cut? Really?!) and glaring inclusions that I wouldn't even have considered for the list, but there was one surprise. Coming in at 88, General Hospital.
  21. Not necessarily your bias. I can't stand Tracy (though I think JE is great in the role) and think there was a lot of truth in what Lucy said, but, yeah, that was cruel. Of course, Tracy gives tit for tat, as is her wont, so... Never thought I'd say Maxie was the only adult in the room.
  22. I kept waiting for someone to address that really obvious and huge elephant in the room, but... nothin'. Anyone here think Kristina is gonna be able to disconnect herself from her biological child? Anyone? Even if she could and does, there's still the huge elephant left in the room of what the kid is gonna think and feel about it all down the road. Idiots, all of 'em.
  23. My last post seems to have gotten lost in the transition, so I'll just say again, thank you for this. TCM always does a beautiful job with their TCM Remembers, and it's always much better than the Oscars.
  24. Yikes, I did not catch that, that Michael is letting Drew still blame Ned. That's all kinds of wrong. When the truth does come out, that it was Nina, I hope she covers for Michael (with a proper recording as backup, of course) and blackmails him into helping her get back in good with her family. You know what they say about Karma, Michael. I don't even remember Lois's mom. I can't fathom why Show thinks we'd care about "Uncle Pete."
  25. Okay, Valentin, cool your jets. When you ask Anna "Why?" and she tries to explain, don't with the face of betrayal and the "I can't do this now." And you know why. Don't pretend you don't or that you're not largely responsible for what just happened. Also, I've missed a lot of days lately, but, in essence, did Alexis threaten the judge with a smear piece if he didn't let Drew out of prison? And, if so, does that mean she's going to just let his misdeeds slide, and other prisoners suffer, by not publishing it now that Drew is out? 'Cause, if so, wow. Just wow.
