  1. What was the purpose of the yield hourglass if it was a non-elimination round? The only thing that it could effect is who got 1st.
  2. My wife is into medical dramas so we stumbled on this show. I am a little confused by the total lack of anyone with a Canadian accent on this show. Is that typical now for shows meant to be shown on the CBC or CTV? Probably a strange thing to observe but I used to live in Canada and it seemed odd that the only people with accents were the Syrian doctor and the chief.
  3. I just can't figure out how people living on this moon for something like 10 generations can steal a spaceship, presumably the first one they've seen in 240+ years and take over another ship before even knowing why they are there. What if it was a long lost supply ship full of papayas, apples or oranges from earth? Did not understand all that.
  4. I'm done with this show if this is the case. Norah wasn't great but at least she was a real journalist compared to Gayle. My favorite was Erica Hill but she's long gone.
  5. I am just amazed that no one picked up on Ron being gay!? The discussion that sealed it for me was when he had a TH about Aurora. They are way more alike than they realize. He is a queen.
  6. I've been surprised that Rick has been such a divisive player on this board. There's almost always a player like that, I'm just surprised it's Rick this season. Personally, I've liked him all along. I like his attitude and even with the stupid loved one episode he didn't get all weepy for someone he'll see either way in a couple weeks anyway. Say what you will about him, but he played that TC and the jury wonderfully. He called out Aurora for going through his bag in front of the jury and doubled down by showing how skeezy Ron and Julie were with that expired advantage. It's clear the jury was eating that up. I too was surprised he could go get the real idol after that. I don't remember anything happening on Survivor like that before. And how can anyone take anything Reem says seriously about it being just a game. She was voted out Day 3. Tell me more Reem about Survivor and please let me have some of your wisdom on how the game is played... I can't believe someone voted out day 3 is on the jury, but that's another rant.
  7. This has been a great discussion. On my end I still think, and I appreciate other opinions, that Gayle's only purpose on the show is because of her connection to Oprah and pop culture. I choose to watch CBS over the other channels because historically they do hard news. Gayle doesn't do that. She IMO doesn't do any of that. I might have an unpopular opinion here but I just don't want to hear an editorial opinion at the end of every news story they do, she does that. I'll watch another show if they keep this up.
  8. The only reason Gayle is on this show is because of Oprah. I just can't stand her commentary. Do you think Oprah would show up on The Today Show as often as she does on CBS This Morning? I'm sorry. They pumped up the R Kelly interview on late night and any other CBS show they could to make it a big deal. She does not do real news. Just watch the first 20 minutes of the show. She's always the last to talk and throws in some short editorial quip at the end. Not what I want to hear.
  9. They picked the wrong anchor to get rid of, I am so tired of Gayle. She has to put some opinion quip at the end of every story. So annoying. Just give me the news I don't care about your opinion.
  10. If this, as Peaches said, was supposed to be some iconic Survivor moment, why did they spoil it a couple days ago when I was watching something totally unrelated like CBS This Morning?! I try to not be spoiled but this pissed me off. I am not really all that interested in the Edge of Extinction Is. But if you do something that new why tease it everywhere?
  11. I'm a little late to the party here with an unpopular opinion. I actually thought Mike played a really good game. I can't think of anyone who was any sort of celebrity going into the game that went as far as Mike did. And, in order for him to do that he managed to play a solid social game where his name almost never came up as someone to vote out. Don't get me wrong, Christian was and still is one of my favorite all time players but I don't get all the Mike hate or that at Christian because he appreciated it. It was quite clear he was working the vote every tribal so that his biggest threats were voted out. Even after he kept Nick in the dark at least twice on a blindside Nick didn't target him. So what if he was catty when Alison mentioned him in tribal? What player doesn't get defensive that deep in the game when someone targets them? He'd got that far and nobody ever targeted him. Anyway, I still think his game play was amazing, since he already was a known celebrity. Pollard, Jimmy Johnson, Colepepper, and all the others were voted out earlier than he was. That took work and good play. I was a big Davie fan too but I don't see anyone giving him a hard time when he said whoever orchestrated his blindside would get his vote. He voted for Nick who was completely in the dark that vote and the whole thing was set up by Mike. Who took credit for it. Parting shot: I don't ever want to see Angelina cast on another season.
  12. I don't know. My wife and I let my brother in law live with us rent free for a year to save money for his own place. I told him it was time to find a place ASAP when he brought home a 55" 4k TV for his bedroom. It may not be Mike and Vanessa's money but it is pretty naive to plan an expensive European vacation given the reason Mike is letting them live there.
  13. It took me a minute to realize this episode that new Mandy wasn't some random woman hitting on Kyle.
  14. I said I was going to give it another chance because I thought they were going to tone down the politics, but with this new info I don't think I will. I'm totally fine with Tim's politics in the show. Hillary Clinton was just on Murphy Brown. Nobody complained about that.
  15. That is fat shaming. I don't care how round he is, even if he hadn't lost weight he appears to be a great role model.
  16. I didn't find him entitled either. He obviously wasn't someone who'd ever spent a night in a tent but I don't see what Sawyer and Richard did with all their efforts other than getting a few stingrays that was much more productive than what Matt did. Not a fan of this fat shaming of Robbie here. He's a great role model and if you take the time to look at his Instagram it's amazing the transformation he's gone through. He seems like a great man.
  17. There were times when I was watching this series I swore the same people that produce NBCs Olympics content were involved with this. 50% of the show was backstories and reenactments. I was really disappointed with the last episode. The entire trip by Sawyer and Richard to Terry's camp seemed so contrived by the producers. The talk of "we can't let someone be alone" after they did all they could to push Matt away also fell flat. IMO they knew she was gone because the producers told them to go over there. Pushing the narrative that everyone should be surviving together didn't didn't sell well with me. I'm sure there are a lot of people, that could thrive and maybe even find it peaceful. Like Terry. This show could have been really good. It's too bad the ratings were so low that I'm doubtful they'll get a second season. I am really happy for Robbie. The photo in that link above is amazing.
  18. I'm a pretty big fan of this show but this IMHO was the worst episode of the season. They are really going to abduct and hang, in broad daylight, driving a Yellowstone Ranch crew cab one of the most visible investors in town? The truck literally said "Yellowstone Ranch" on the door. I liked most of this season but not much of this last episode made any sense to me. Kaysee is now a stone cold serial killer? This reporter is now all buddy, buddy with Jaime? I don't buy any of it.
  19. I'm happy for Sam. I know people like him who weren't cut out for college or for whatever reason just found something they had a passion for and pursued it. I don't see how his motivation for being there was any different than Britt's or some of the other contestants. I would have been happy with any one of these three winning. But, I really liked Sam's attitude and positivity. His wife showing up was one of my favorite moments of the series. I do agree though. New people now and no couples. I did like the new location but I hope in the future they have some access to game.
  20. Cowboy hats and boots cost a lot. If you owned a family farm or ranch that had been in the same family for 132 years you'd probably understand John Dutton and how he acts a little better. All that said, this was one of my favorite episodes of the season. The part about the fossil hunters ransacking the house fell a little flat for me though. I've spent a lot of time on the Crow Indian Reservation in Montana and I don't believe a bunch of people not from the rez could show up without a lot of local interest. Hoping for a great part II.
  21. I've tried to ignore some of the personality quirks of Sam and Larry. They can both be a little off putting, but that doesn't mean they don't know what they're doing. Britt seems to be the most camera friendly of the 3 remaining people, but had Larry lost 3 hooks doing what Britt did I think people would be harder on him. Similar to what you note about how viewers might be more sympathetic to someone like Alan. IMO Sam is doing projects like the cup and spoons to keep his mind occupied. There has to be a lot of down time and you can only sit around for so long doing nothing.
  22. I still have a wooden spoon someone I guided on a canoe trip made for me 20+ years ago. Sam isn't some guy stumbling through this. He has real skills and I'd be fine if he won.
  23. I have liked Larry from the beginning, although I would be happy with any of these 3 winning. Larry is an interesting guy and has some personality quirks that seem to turn people off. Admittedly, I personally can't stand him saying "man" after every other sentence, but as I've said before he's there and I'm not. He's alone and IMO can do whatever he needs too if it gets him through the day. I started to wonder, since we're around 40 days into this and only three of these "survival experts" remain what guys like Jim Bridger or any of the early American/Canadian frontiersmen would think of this effort. Are even these guys not made of the same salt their predecessors were?
  24. Although I really like this show, it was ridiculous that Rip found two lost hikers on the property (which is the size of Rhode Island apparently) and at the same time found the grizzly bear. Even though he set out to shoot the bear in the first place, at least he will be off the hook for killing it since it was in self defense at that time. We live in an area with a large percentage of Native Americans as well, my wife working at a hospital, in Bozeman it would be highly unlikely that it was the medical folks first rodeo with native rituals in a hospital room. I have no doubt they've seen it all before. That reaction seemed over the top. Overall though I liked the episode and still enjoy the series. I almost feel sorry for John, none of his kids seem interested in taking over the ranch when he dies. It's obviously one of the largest in Montana. Maybe he'll adopt Rip and make him an honorary Dutton.
  25. Larry's yelling doesn't bother me. He's there and I'm not. Whatever helps him get through the day is fine my me. I wouldn't want to go camping with him though. He'd break my camp stove if the food was overcooked.
