  1. Is this the first time we've had actual confirmation that Snow was only ten when she met Regina? I know that was my supposition but at the same time I knew Bailee was 12ish at the time of filming so I figured Snow was anywhere between 9-12.
  2. You won't get an argument from me that the conversation with Regina was horribly placed. At least they had Snow tracking Emma at the time but that seemed to be an afterthought. One thing I appreciate about Ginny is despite certain dialogue and set-ups (like the stupid conversation(s) between Regina and Snow), she conveys a lot of love for Emma. It's a lot of little things, like when Emma was trying to figure out the map in Neverland, what was it that was said on the TWOP forum - shining balls of love from their eyes? Something like that. It's the way she crowed over the video and had eyes only for a glimpse of her teenage daughter when Emma was trying to tell them about the Snow Queen. it's the way she took pictures on Emma before her date with Hook, gazing at it with a loving smile on her face. It was the way she bounced, bounced on the seat cushion when asking about her date. And (I'm sure I'll get flack for this) it was in the scene with the lamp post. After she barked at Emma, she actually looked at her face (and a huge kudos here for Jennifer because she managed a look of child-like terror and grief that was heart-rending), took a deep breath, and repeated her daughter's name more calmly. Was her initial reaction great? No, but it literally took her less then a second to realize it and try to rectify it. I won't even touch the conversation that Snow had with Regina. That was such an obvious ploy by the writers to sanctify the horrible, horrible double standard being displayed that I have no words to express my disgust. One thing they have managed to do during the last three years is to despise Regina. Probably not their intent but, there it is.
  3. I love the whole Charming Family (the ladies a bit more then Charming but he's close). I think neither Snow nor Emma has been really able to express the level of grief they've had for the various tragedies that have happened in their lives (in favor of seeing every single facet of Regina's) and I think this has severely affected the level of emotional expressiveness (or likability if you will) that they've been allowed. I miss season one Snow very, very badly. I adored that woman. I loved her sweetness, her spunkiness, her heart, and her bravery. It's troubling to realize that the writers, Adam, and Eddie, don't realize/care about how much the Charming family, particularly Snow, have been portrayed. The frustration is exacerbated by the fact that Ginny is an accomplished actress and has the range to do so much more (even as sleep-deprived as she may be). It's deeply regrettable and if mused on for too long, infuriating.
  4. If we can get some conversations between Emma and her parents about babies and lost childhoods, I will be happy, even if its relatively short (but not if the replace w/ Regina). However, I am concerned with a bit in the promo. David and Snow have never showed "fear" of Emma…so are they going to come up with some contrivance before Emma's powers go crazy? I already hate that because my best guess is that they'll dump that stupidity on Snow. <sigh>
  5. I couldn't find the article last night but here is the exact quote from producer/writer Joanna Johnson, "There's much more tolerance in society for women having sex with underage boys than there is when it's an older man and a young girl. We are going to explore that double standard." The other mentions were Mike coming home with blood on his hands as a "mystery" and Callie's imminent meeting with her biological father. Definitely this. Brandon would need to acknowledge the emotional manipulation to recognize the rape because there is a lack of physical control. Mike's response will be interesting as well. Any more thoughts on this I better take to the speculation thread.
  6. I just found an article in this week's TV Guide regarding Brandon and Dani. In a nutshell, they said they were going to compare the societal perceptions of statutory rape for males and females. I was so incredibly relieved to hear that. From reviews and comments about "Adoption Day" I was really surprised at how few seemed to acknowledge the statutory rape Dani committed. The producers/writers also went out of their way to make it more reprehensible too. First of all, Dani started "grooming" Brandon by praising him then giving him money to keep his illegal actions from being discovered. He was in her debt. When they had sex, Brandon was clearly drunk, that was made very clear as well. Now, on the season premiere they had Dani using emotional blackmail on Brandon. I was really afraid this was going to be glossed over but it looks like they have a plan. Can't wait to see how it plays out because while I don't think Brandon will consider what was done, rape…Stef and Lena will.
  7. A couple of other things I loved about this episode: When Emma is talking to Hook in the vault there's this clogged-with-tears, not-wanting-to-cry tone in Emma's voice when she says "I want this to work". Her voice falters a little and its so freaking genuine that I am still impressed. I always wondered why (at the time period of Snow Falls) Snow believed she had ruined Regina's life. So she thought Cora "sent Daniel away". Ok. Well, from a little girl perspective I can see her thinking that. I have mixed feelings that she both "claims" she ruined Regina's life but then later reminds Regina she was a child. She doesn't say she was manipulated by Cora, but it is certainly implied. I wish Snow would say that because Regina really needs it spelled out.
  8. All of Jennifer's reactions were spot on, but this I loved so much and could watch over and over. She's clearly delighted to see David, and when she sees her mom in the tree and later scaling the castle walls, she has this adorable little-kid "My mom is so cool" look on her face. I keep picturing her as a first grader during show-and-tell going: "...and my Mommy's the queen and she shoots arrows and climbs trees and can climb up walls too! Just like Spiderman! And did I tell you my Daddy fights dragons? 'Cause my parents are cool. Much, much cooler then all your parents." Ginny seemed to be having a lot of fun too. When she's leaping out the window she has that same grin she had leaping over the cliff, and then in the net redux, she employs that…I don't know what to call it…this kind of pseudo I-don't-care-but-really-I-do voice when she tells Hook and David it's easy to get into the castle (because it used to be hers) and chirps away about what everyone gets (princess, ring, and a Charming-less life). It just makes me laugh. And I miss that so SO much. Please, PLEASE bring back this Snow. I love her to pieces and seeing her again was like an old friend. Loved that Emma realized her home is with her parents. That made me incredibly happy. When she called them Mom and Dad it made me ecstatic. I wasn't happy with the call-out on 2x22. I'm not sure what it was but it just didn't work for me - actually made me cringe and since it was a moment I had been looking forward to ever since the curse was broken, I was disappointed. This episode is what I wanted to be. Rewatch, rematch, rematch. I'm not really Team Hook, but if the Show lets Emma bond with her parents an equal amount, I ship Emma with happiness so whatever makes her happy is fine with me. Just don't let go of the family arc. There's still a ton of stuff to be explored there.
  9. Yeah, not sure but I hope they go the jail route. They handled Callie's rape and the subsequent idiocy of certain law proceedings. I really don't want them to ignore the statutory rape thing because Brandon's male. Part of me really wants to see Stef punch Dani, but I also know how upsetting it will be for her to hear so I'm torn...
  10. Crap. Dani's still around. That better be addressed.
  11. From the Jolly Roger thread But see this is what I'm speaking of; Emma did manifest magic in Henry's birth scene, so did she exhibit magic as a child? It would be a wonderful counterpoint to all of her "what the hell" responses if she brought up buried memories of doing magical things…or talking to birds. I would love to see some kind of flashbacks for that. It could also explain why she wasn't adopted. If spooky things were happening around her, I could see foster parents getting freaked out. And my adoption irritation still stands. I know kids are less adopted after three, but Emma was with the Swans (who from our limited understanding) who took care of her. Then she went into foster care but a child with no disabilities, no disfigurements, with an average or above average IQ, no alcohol or drug dependencies, and no parental rights issues, would still be in demand. I know that for the show, Emma couldn't find a forever home because she had to be out there searching for her family, but it would be really nice to have some flashbacks to explain some of this. Emma is central to the story and even if only part of the story is her "hero's arc" we should still know more about it.
  12. I enjoyed this episode a surprising amount. I loved the scene with the Charmings and the cribs. Yes Show, I do like it when you slow down and let the family have actual moments together. I think it's a testament to the actors, because when they have these moments together, they are naturally family-like. JMo especially did such a good job in this. She comes off as slightly adolescent, but in a funny, cute way. What gets me, is then a later episode might spoil this with dialogue which doesn't seem to fit the "family-ness" they're exhibiting. The story doesn't always fit the interactions. I did think it was interesting that in Emma's first talk with Hook she kept making it all about Henry, so we can at lest assume that part of her is reluctant to leave Storybrooke. I thought Regina and Emma were hilarious together. I still resent Regina, on several levels, but if they stop trying to make me feel sorry for her all the time, I can accept her getting closer to the family, "Stockholm Syndrome Snow" (thank you MDKnight) and all. If they are laying groundwork for Emma to be one of the most powerful magic wielders in existence…that could be very interesting, and I would love to see Emma develop that more. And...for the love of G-d, some more backstory, please! All that power and it only started now? I don't buy it. If baby Zelena had magic, baby Emma should have had it too. How did it manifest, and is that one of the reasons she continued to be passed around in the foster system? (I know we've talked about it on TWoP but little blonde, blue-eyed girls with no disfigurements and disabilities are EXTREMELY wanted on the adoption market). The driving thing was stupid but it also made me laugh. Sometimes parents (and grandparents) do stupid things for their kids to admire them. Regina's reactions and Snow and David's mumbled asides were funny. I'm just going to appreciate the funny.
  13. The woman was growing lungs and planning a wedding? I'm completely impressed. They did just stop filming Friday, yes?
  14. Not a fan of this episode. Too many boxes being checked, even if I hadn't been spoiled and guessed the person was probably Neal, they telegraphed it a mile away by having him basically say good-bye to everyone and showing how much "fun" he and Emma were having. I did like hearing Emma laugh though, Jen has such a great laugh. And her, "fine, let's go," response it the woods, accompanied by an actual pout made me smile. Neal sometimes brings out teen Emma. Neal's death did nothing for me, and I don't hate the guy totally. I think it sucks that he didn't get to talk to Henry one last time. I think it sucks that after 200, 300 years or whatever, Neal and Rumple had about a week total (Storybrook and Neverland, in which they still barely talked. I would say the writers are trying to teach a lesson that bad things happen to bad people, ergo, Rumple doesn't get his happy ending but that is so different from the story they have been telling that it doesn't work. And the fact that finding Bae was the whole reason the curse was even enacted? Don't get be started, what a a freaking mess. The actual death scene? Bleh. Jen tugged at my heartstrings but the dialogue Michael was spouting was just so stupid that I couldn't get into the scene at all. I thought Robert was oddly flat as well. It's weird, because in the ep. when Rumple was dying from the potion, I totally loved their scene together. I thought it was very well done. I thought there was more emotion when Rumple kissed his father good-bye then this scene. It just felt really off. Last, I really, really hate Zelena being around Baby Charming. When she touched Snow's stomach I really wanted Snow to chop her hand off. If something happens to this baby, if the Charmings don't get to raise one of their kids, I am going to be all kinds of pissed.
