  1. this escaped me too, but I was not paying close attention to that couple.
  2. Wow next week a shocker! Ick has picked up a Muslim girl. While the Muslim couple can’t get anyone.
  3. Also every time I see his dumbass chest in a tank top.
  4. Garrick: important that I spend time with her. Translation it’s important that I bang her.
  5. Garrick: I love her so much. Translation: I want to bang her. Who here is surprised she said yes.
  6. Thanks for all the photos. We got to see the crescent shape with our glasses and it got darkish outside and cold. I thought it was pretty amazing, since in 2017 we saw nothing. Too much cloud cover. We didn’t have cloud cover this time. @shapeshifter sorry you had cloud cover. But you got to experience total darkness so that’s cool.
  7. Shapeshifter, I was wondering about your eclipse plans--you're in the totality path. I'm most curious about how dark it will be. Please report back.
  8. Columbo also always had celeb villains. So I guess they’re keeping up the tradition. And I’m here for it.
  9. I enjoyed this episode despite some absurd premises. I too live in a coop and there are a couple of board members who are pompous know it alls. But as they mentioned in the episode many shareholders don’t want to take these positions as they are too much work. Separate topic: I said on episode one that Wendell Pierce cannot be a bad guy. I’m thinking they are hinting that he’s a good guy and the captain is planting suspicion on him and the captain is the corrupt one. This is based on a couple of exchanges.
  10. The Closer was very good, as was the sequel show, Major Crimes. They had a great ensemble crew of the squad detectives.
  11. Oh that double feature thing should be fun. I saw that interview. I also grew up with the mismatched double features. I like looking at ads in old NYT pages now and seeing what was playing.
  12. I have watched The Major and the Minor so many times I can recite it by heart.
  13. Oh there’s more! Five Graves to Cairo and a really old one, a TCM premiere, Mauvaise Graine.
  14. Billy Wilder night: Double Indemnity and The Major and the Minor!
  15. @Rinaldo I did not intend to stay up and rewatch Dodsworth last night but I could not turn it off. Stayed up much too late. After watching the last half of Diner. I love seeing Walter Huston loosen up at the end in his shirtsleeves. Ruth Chatterton was also excellent.
  16. I have to select I'm traveling from time to time. It's inconsistent.
  17. Let's talk Amor Towles. His new book of short stories (Table for Two) is out, timed to go along with the TV debut of A Gentleman in Moscow. I didn't like the latter book, but I'm enjoying the book of short stories and the Moscow TV show. I also liked his book The Lincoln Highway. I don't know what it was about the Moscow book, which so many loved. It just dragged for me.
  18. This was the same problem with Netflix. Thus far, we have been able to avoid problems with the two house situation. I wonder whether Disney will do the same. I have two homes, but I would notice the extra bill.
  19. I did not feel it on the Upper West Side, but many neighbors did and friends all around town. @Bastet probably laughing at us
  20. Some of this was due to aggressive policing strategies. The City was sued about this and eventually settled the lawsuit, agreeing to pull back on the disputed stop and frisk policy. Now there are new disputed no-bail policies. There is no answer that satisfies everyone on these very difficult questions.
  21. No it’s not as bad as they say. People are not pushing people off the platforms left and right. There have been two or three such incidents in recent years. Because they are so awful, they assume a larger significance in people’s minds and a larger influence on behavior.
  22. Also FWIW there are probably a lot of guns being carried illegally everywhere in NYC.but my husband and I just go about our business. There are probably a lot of guns being carried everywhere in every state.
  23. Yup same here. I take the subway every day. I do think things feel worse again, as they were in the 70s during the financial crisis. But it is still a great place to be. FWIW I have always been afraid to stand near the edge of the subway, and I hug the wall till the train rolls in.
