  1. SO HAPPY to be back in paradise. A few early ractions: 1. Bibiana and her red hot chili pepper bathing suit are the everything 2. Joe is seriously the hottest ever. 3. Kendall could barely keep her tongue in her mouth when she met him. I'm being literal here. 4. It's so annoying that Colton made me feel bad for Tia. He's the worst. 5. Krystal throwing glitter?!! How did she not get that sh** in her eyes. That intro leaves me worrying for her cornea (corneas?) 6. John, Kenny and Wills (and probably Joe) are too good for this. 7. Jordan is great. David is terrible. It must be a day that ends in "y" 8. Chris Harrison: This is an honest process about finding true love and also if you don't hook up asap you're out.
  2. I actually think it is true. These stories circulated all season. And I think it's absolutely Bekah's business . She's a part of BN and I actually think the world would be a better place if more people broke rank and spoke out and spoke up for people with smaller platforms. I think it's great if she wants to stand up for issues while helping to maintain her relevancy. Good for her.
  3. I just couldn't with most of last week's episode, but I don't want to get too far behind forParadise (priorities) so thought I 'should' watch this weeks episode. Sigh. --So back when Becca was originally cast, I know a lot of people said it was too soon for her to go another dating show. I disagreed but I've changed my mind. While I think she's perfectly 'ready' to move on and fall in love, she also still seems to be suffering from breakup-PTSD from how things went down with Arie. If she'd taken a year between being dumped on television when she thought she was beloved and engaged (not that I think that she had the option of taking a year 'off'), and being the Bachelorette, maybe dated a few guys, gone on a bunch of party weekends in the meantime, I think we'd see a better version of her. She really doesn't seem to be having much fun either. --Also, I hated a lot of her outfits this episode. The shirt under her leather jacket was terrible, her desert shorts get up w/ neck kerchief was terrible (it might be as bad as the all time worst, imo (of course) Bachelorette outfit (Desiree's breakup with Brooks outfit)). --I don't like Colton. I see nothing likable about Colton. He seems calculating and smug and vain and fairly dumb. -I still don't know who some of these guys are. There hasn't been this many no-named-wonders in literally years. I actually can't remember there being this many ever, but I'm probably wrong. --The Wayne Newton date careened from boring af to cringe-worthy. None of it was enjoyable to watch. I can't believe they left any Linkoln THs in. WIlls. I love Wills and I generally love unique, even weird, fashion, but that floral shorts thing he was wearing was terrible. They all sang about as well as I would. Chis, I still don't forgive him for looking like Crazy Eddie and that's just one of my problems with him but he really did do great when putting on a show/performing. Too bad applause released his inner obnoxious person. --David. Sigh. I can only imagine how annoying Jordan must be irl/in the mansion, but I was so over watching him be 'hen-pecked' by David. At first it was a little tongue and cheek enough to seem funny, but by the time that this episode came around, it just seemed obsessive and very much like bully-ing. Also, no, no, no. Don't ever spend your time with the lead talking about another contestant and don't ever exaggerate your accusations. He deserved the totally dismissive dismissal. --Jordan. Well, I'm surprised how much he's grown on me. I'm probably a sap, but I bought his story about his family (and it goes quite a bit towards explaining why 'the look of things' might be so important to him) and I think he's funny (though he takes himself too seriously) and his speaking, walking and being fit will be missed. I'm interested to see what I think of him after we get to see more of him. --I already said that Chris became obnoxious this episode, but it's kinda amazing how badly he behaved at the cocktail party. I'm sure a producer wound him up and he's been drinking, but this was not a good look and it was terribly obvious from Becca's words and body language were totally 'back off' . It doesn't say much for him that he couldn't listen to that. Also, he needs to get a clue. He's obviously on the way out and he's not going to help himself with this pissy, 'she's got to meet me' attitude. --Wills at the cocktail party = everything. I even liked his suit. --In terms of the men, this season reminds me a little of Jojo's season. There's been a decent number of interesting guys, but the overall impression is of blockheads and douches. It's partially because these 2 bachelorettes really seemed to like that (and eliminated other types early) of course. But this season seems especially...I don't know. Heavy. Dour. Knowing what we now know about some of the contestants colors it, I'm sure. And then these back to back douchy behaviors towards Becca (at the cocktail party) aren't helping. After what she went through with Arie, I'd much rather see her playing and enjoying herself rather than so exhausted and stressed over constant douchy behavior and being beaten-up with comments that imply that some of her bachelors say bad things about her or think she's not good enough or would just be settling for her. --Venmo John! Come back to us! --Jordan!! Come back to us!! --If I thought Becca kept Chris because she liked him, I might give up on this season entirely. That was terrible.
  4. I hate what we see of Ashley I. I don't care at all about Jared. But I basically hope they work out because I don't know either of them enough to really have an opinion on who they should be with so I might as well believe them. But I don't want to watch them. Go away already. And I honestly think that their love story sucks. Girl falls for boy who likes her but not enough. Girl throws crying fit after crying fit while trying to win the guy who is dating other people. Girl attacks females who the guy shows any interest in, calling them names, manipulating them and acting like a possessive freak because of a guy who they are not dating. Girl cries some more. Pouts some more. Years of this absolutely pathetic shit go by. Girl starts moving on and only then is the guy "okay, I guess I want you after all". And the girl like "yay!"??? It's a terrible, yucky story and I'd tell every women hoping to find a future spouse that she deserves better than a man who needed her to beg for him for years. Carly and what's his name? Great. Jade and Tanner? Sure (though I'm starting to think that that will end in divorce). Raven and Adam? Okay. That annoying, preachy girl and the guy who was a jerk to Olivia? At least the proposal was sweet. But Ashley I and Jared are not a love story anyone should be swooning over.
  5. OH, I have a totally crackpot theory. So there's been a lot of talk about Colton and the likelihood that he's actually a virgin and why he'd say he was if he wasn't. Now, I've thought he was lying since we first saw the promo of that, but I've agreed that it's a weird thing for anyone, especially a guy, to lie about. So here's my crackpot theory: Tia is pretty religious/spiritual, apparently (this isn't to say anything about her sexual history). Maybe this virginity line was one Colton fed her in order to appeal to that side of her life because he thought it would give him a serious leg up when competing with a bunch of other guys once filming began (if she'd become the Bachelorette as both she and he seemed to think would happen). He would be unique and 'purer' and perhaps seem like a more moral choice. Then, Becca was cast. And they're friends. If he'd told Tia he was a virgin, his best bet was to tell Becca the same thing. And we've already seen that he thinks that way. He told Becca very quickly about having dated Tia. It's the decent thing to do. But it's also the smart thing to do. It's easier to manage information and it's impact if you take control of how it's introduced. Okay, like I said, it's a total crackpot theory: That basically Colton's lying about being a virgin because he lied to Tia about that, thinking it would work especially well on her, and had to stick with the story. But it's a theory I'm going with it for now. (But like I said earlier, I'm finding Colton less and less genuine as time passes-and really it's pretty early in the game. Doesn't mean he's a bad guy, but I do think he's a calculating one)
  6. Yeah, I love Kendall and Sienne. I don't know that Kendall would have worked as the bachelorette, but I do think she'd have been better than Tia would have been and I think she would have still been likable by the end of her season (which I don't think would have happened with Tia). I also think a Baby Becka season would have been fun, annoying but fun, but didn't see them doing it. She really is too young. I'm still convinced we've gotten the hard sell on Tia (and will probably get more of it in Paradise) because the producers think of her as a replacement for Raven and they loved Raven (rumor is that they wanted Raven for Bachelorette this season but then she met Adam). I don't know if I think Raven is that great, but I also don't see Tia as much of a 'replacement' for her either.
  7. I like Tia fine and really did enjoy her sense of humor (early on in Arie's season) but agree that Becca is a much better choice. By the end of Arie's season, it seemed that Tia was constantly auditioning for the Bachelorette role and, because of this, I found most of her reactions disingenuous (and her comments about Baby Becca especially hypocritical). Shallowly, her nose still bugs me (she'd be gorgeous if not for that wicked-witch tip). And I agree with all the comments above saying that Tia would have been a complainer. She just turns sour so fast. I think there were a lot of really great women on Arie's season. I don't think Tia was at top of that list.
  8. Tia looked miserable. I don't know what she was having the most trouble with....Colton now 'dating' Becca or her missed opportunity (to be the Bachelorette). I will say that I buy her friendship with Becca but I don't blame her for her suffering from some bitterness. From Becca's point of view, I don't think that the problem with Colton is that he briefly dated a friend of hers or even that he thought it would be one Bachelorette and, instead, it was her (because situations like those aren't uncommon). The problem is that he seems like he might be someone who pursues women because of their fame and the likelihood of them bringing fame to him. Also, the more I see him, the less genuine he seems. I don't care at all about this stupid drama between David and Jordan except for the fun it sucks out of listening to Jordan prattle about stuff. I did find David's bating of Jordan with the "what's that face" funny. Richard Marx does not look like Richard Marx. The 'spa date' was terrible. I don't know why they bring in friends so early in a season. Bring them later when actual real feelings are possible and the Bachelorette has spent more than a few minutes with all of the contestants. Misc: I don't care about Chris and think the private concert dates look like hell. I still like Jean Blanc (and I'll stop mentioning how yucky I find the idea of his cologne collection--but I will keep finding it yucky). Clay is great. I hope he's okay and this stupid show doesn't hurt is actual career. When he was telling Becca about why he had to leave...what a sweet, genuine guy. It seems likely that David was pretty drunk to take a tumble out of bed like that. Chris Harrison really shines when he puts on his announcer hat, "It's gonna be some pretty bad football, let's be honest"! Mike? There's a Mike? Still like Leo's humor and Christon's face. I can't quite shake Garrett's unflattering Farley impersonation and keep forgetting that he's actually cute and am surprised when I see him onscreen and there he is, being cute. Jordan? Try not to mock someone who's been seriously injured, no matter who that person is. Its not a flattering look and we know you care about flattering looks (PS it's possible he really wasn't mocking-I think the clip we see of that itm is unclear)
  9. Also, meant to say: Jordan is the new Corrine.
  10. Just a few thoughts: I'm over Colton (not that I was really under him before ;) )and that's because, in part, of some info on podcasts. Nothing earth shaking, just info on his charity and such. But I think he's here for awhile Love Leo's sense of humor. Still don't love his hair. It's fine. Whatever. Sadly, I don't imagine him making it more than 2 more weeks (just a guess) but I hope he makes it to paradise. Blake is great. Pretty basic in looks, but great. Clay is a sweetheart but I just don't see him with Becca but I have no doubt that he'll find someone someday. Probably not someone on Paradise but that's because I can't imagine any of those women properly appreciating him (I'm mostly joking about that--I have largely good feelings for Arie's women). Jean Blanc is very appealing but I can't forget that somewhere out there he has a big pile of cologne. Christon is very attractive. Alex's goodbye was kinda sad. Also, I like David (and thought I wouldn't). It's always nice to see Rachel. And Bryan too? No, I don't actually care about seeing Bryan. I'm happy enough just knowing that they're together. I don't actually need to see them together.
  11. I absolutely could emphasize with Ashley's confidence level, especially since her season started on rocky footing that was similar to what Kaitlyn started with--a bunch of the guys (including that one super douche) went into the season thinking that the bachelorette would be a very particular someone else and they wanted it to be that particular someone else. I think that would shake even the most confident of lead. That said, I didn't like Ashley's neurotic insecurity on Brad's season and I liked it less on her season. While I think she's a catch, I didn't think she had the personality to to be a good lead and that while she and JP are great together and good for them and all of that, her season was pretty bad in no small part because of her hand wringing. However, I think Rachel, the beautiful attorney with wall to wall attitude, was not only fun to watch but that her confidence was in no way deranged. Edited to mention the actual lead of the actual current season: I do like Becca's self confidence. I don't know that I get it, exactly, but good for her and it seems to work. I wonder if she's one of those people that are really magnetic irl because I don't think it quite comes across that way on tv.
  12. I know I said that Becca is a liberal but now that you say this, I think you might be right. I think I read somewhere that she was a liberal, but I don't know that that was much more than an assumption. edited to say: I still don't remember where I first got the idea she's liberal, bu, yeah, she is. At least close to. Hilary supporting feminist's generally are.
  13. Yeah, and it's not like Becca (or any other lead) really decides the order those names are called in either. They're given some input (and leads have said that that input gets bigger as the season progresses, when that lead actually has developed opinions about that stuff) So whether or not the names (those 6 in a row) were called in the order it appeared isn't really telling of anything....well, except maybe a hint to something that production is trying to tell us for whatever reason. Because Becca did not pick the order they were called in and she did not pick the order the calling was shown in.
  14. I was going to stay unspoiled this season but this news has been everywhere so here I am...and I'm just bummed out. This will be the fourth season in a row with a really depressing/worrisome background story happening that just sucks the fun out of it. First there was Lee being cast for Rachel, then there was the BIP incident and the truly cringe worthy weekly coverage of it that they did, then there was asshole Arie and now liberal Becca ending up with a douchy guy who thinks that it's funny to mock mistreated and abused children (among other things). Sigh. yeah, yeah...we'll see I guess. They might just manage to edit him in a flattering enough way to sell the "he didn't mean anything and now knows better" line?
  15. Just have to add: Okay, I'm shallow but I just don't find Becca attractive and I don't really know why. Like I can say she's pretty and hear other people call her pretty and understand why but I don't really believe it. Theres not a thing that I can point to as the "problem" either. It just doesn't work for me?‍♀️. Weirdly, while I never saw chemistry between her and Arie, I did think they looked good together and physically complimented each other.
  16. I can't remember the last 1st episode that blurred together like this one. It just wasn't that much fun (and I usually love the first eps) Becca is fine. I like her no nonsense approach (she dealt with home town guy and texting ex-girlfriend guy very well) and feel like I'd like her irl, but I don't think I'd love her irl. She's just so basic. Better end basic. But basic none-the-less. I liked Clay, though he's in no way my real life type. I think Colton is basically a good guy (his CF charity gives him a lot of points) but I think his virginity shtick is full of crap and there's something just annoying about him. I liked Joe a lot but it seems everyone loves him way-y more than I can understand and there's been lots of requests that he make it to Paradise? Okay, sure, he's enjoyable but I can't even imagine which of the past seasons' women he'd click up with (I've never been much for matchmaking though). Maybe he could go on Survivor or something instead. Blake seemed nice but not attractive. Annoying 60/40 guy should have been sent home right there at the limo exit for being a negging asshole. Dunking guy is so cute but that dunking thing was annoying (Spinning the ball on her finger = cute. Using her as a prop for you to show off = not cute) and I hope he cuts it out. Liked Leo for his dry as dirt humor but his hair is not as fascinating as he thinks it is. Jean Blanc is charming but that cologne collection turns me off so completely that I don't think I can get past it. Jordon is hilarious in a cartoonishly douchy way and I hope I can figure out if he's doing it on purpose (it's rare to be that dumb by accident) or not. Garret. I don't know. On one hand he and Becca seem relaxed together but he basically seems like Waboom to me. By all accounts, Waboom (Wahboom?) was really nice to Rachel too and not always 'on'. Garret, with his mini-van which even he seemed uncertain about whether he was mocking or not and his stupid Farley impression and insistence that he "LIKES FUN" seemed as aggressively goofy as Waboom did, just with less head and ear injury (which, to be fair, is probably worth something) and fewer tees to sell. However, I liked David and he was pretty goofy too. I hated it when he was 'cawing' out with or without her name, but thought the rest of his silliness was nicely light. Also, there was some guy who looks like JoJo's Jordan (at least at some angles) and I'd catch site of him in group shots but never put a name to the face. And there was a vaguely Wells like guy too. Overall, there seems to be fewer fitness coaches (a plus) and more guys with real careers . But I'm pretty blah on most of their looks right now (I'm sure a few of them will grow on me- at least I hope so.)
  17. Really great post. I didn't even really think about Amy asking Jonah why he was still there and what that meant about her fears regarding Jonah's feelings for her. I just saw it as more of her feeling personally stuck and frustrated. So much yes to everything else: Amy always making the first move and Jonah holding back (and sending mixed signals), their desperate need for a calm, honest conversation and how it's both very real life and annoying that they're not having it and even how great the show is even though some of it can be very annoying.
  18. OH, forgot...it bugged me that Jonah painted himself as having waited for Amy all that time and had just, finally moved on. A. I don't believe he'd ever 'moved on' from having a crush on her, but I don't think he's ever really held much hope that it would go anywhere either (except maybe briefly right after the hurricane and when her divorce was becoming real) B. He has not been wasting away, waiting for her (which is good). He's had a couple girlfriends besides Kelley and at least one sex-only fling.
  19. In seasons 1&2, I don't remember seeing episodes where I really disliked pretty much every character. But this season it happens every 3rd or 4th episode and I feel all "I hate almost everyone and every storyline in this episode". This was one of those. The one exception for me (except Sandra--I don't remember ever disliking her totally) was Jonah. I get why his lovey behavior w/ Kelley really bugged a lot of people but I saw it as well intentioned though misguided. Kelley was his girlfriend and he focusing on her and trying to 'fix' things by doubling down on their relationship after the event w/ Amy. Of course, that was worse in the long run, but...okay, say Jonah happens to be a real and I know him and he'd had this long running but mostly futile crush on Amy but was dating Kelley and then Amy pulled this kissing thing like she did here? I'd totally tell Jonah to focus on the sweet woman he was with and forget the flaky pia that Amy can be?‍♀️. I will say that until jonah missed his date with Kelley (to hit golf balls w/ Amy), I never really felt like those 2 were a bad match --just that they weren't the best match-- but I know a lot of viewers did.
  20. While I'm not an advocate in that I don't do much except vote and occasionally donate $, I'm prochoice and still think that I'd find an abortion or miscarriage storyline hard to do while pregnant. Of course, you have a point that it other, actual actors might be feel that the value in telling that story would outway any neurosis related to telling it, no matter the timing.
  21. The weird thing is if you'd asked me what the name of the actor who played Jonah was, I'd have probably said that I didn't know ?Apparently I picked it up somewhere (probably here) and it stuck?‍♀️
  22. OMG, I Didn't even notice doing that! Yikes? changed it for clarity?
  23. This ep was just so packed with good lines and little moments: -Dina's reaction to the 3-D ultrasound -The baby piñata that will be beaten with a stick -Dina's needing a confirm that the Adam that Amy slept with was Adam DUBENAWSKI (rather than just assuming that because Dina) -Mateo telling Jonah not to sleep w/ Jeff and doing the "eyes on you" fingers -Jonah making excuses for why he's hasn't watched Terms of Endearment and Mateo's answering look of disqust -Jonah not reading Mateo right during their good cop/bad cop routine and then telling him that he's a very good actor--and then Mateo throwing in that he's also done plays --okay, pretty much everything Mateo and Jonah -Garret's impersonation of Glenn and his indignation when it didn't work -"...For now I'm just gonna walk around the reservoir" -Dina helping Amy get out of there - How America played everything including her conversation with Dina in the the truck. I read her response about the clinic as she'd considered it, but it wasn't what she actually wanted to do--but she kinda wished it was. -The kiss at the end with Jonah's changing face and Amy's determined expression was fantastically done Side note, my youngest is 13. I regularly think of her as almost out of the house. I know it's still years away, but that's how I think about it so Amy's comment regarding Emma almost being out of the house rang true to me.
  24. I'm really not superstitious but if I was an actress, I really wouldn't want to play a miscarriage or abortion story while I was pregnant irl. I'm neurotic enough as is and would not welcome those emotions and thoughts at that time--I'm sure I'd be very freaked out. Of course, I'm not an actress. It's more than possible that i just don't understand something essential about the way actors can separate their story-originated emotions from their day to day, rl emotions. Of course, it could be argued that if that was easily done than we wouldn't hear about so many onscreen romances launching real life romances?‍♀️
  25. The main mermaid actress totally sold me on watching this despite the fact that I think that the writing and most of the acting is kinda bad right now (lots of good shows start out with the same problems so things might very well improve), The actress playing Maddie isn't giving me much in terms of her acting (as of right now-we'll see) but I agree that she's got this fantatastic, almost strange look to her that gives credence to the theories that she's a hybrid. I also think that the captured mermaid is haunting. She hasn't said a word yet, but right now she's got me interested in seeing what happens to and with her. Without knowing how mermaids age I don't know that I think that she might be Maddy's missing mom as well as Ryn's sister (or even what a mermaid sibling relationship actually means) or if perhaps the relationship will go deeper than that (maybe the 3 of them are all sisters to one yet unseen mother). Of course, that might depend on whether or not this show gets picked up for another season. Edited to add: insomnia again so I'm rewatching ep 1/2 and I have to say I think the writers have a real problem with having characters behave in the least logical, most suspicious way possible to situations that would easily be resolved with casual lying ( like when the rescue squad hung up on the nurse rather than just saying 'it was a wrong number, sorry to have bothered you' or driving away from the military base like guilty lunatics rather than just stopping or even calmly waving as they turned around as if they'd been lost). Even the nurse, when tending Chris responds to his queries about what's going on with creepy, suspicious silence. Why not just have her say something like "You were hurt in an accident and are in the hospital" and avoid him becoming suspicious or worried? What's this with the 'everyone is too stupid be even slightly not obvious with the fact that they're up to something' thing that's being written over and over? Is it common to a YA series? (I read a review that called it a YA series-I don't know if I've watched another one of those since Buffy)
