  1. I had a big stupid grin on my face the whole episode. Even if the rest of the episodes are terrible, terrible things, the revival will have been worth it for this one.
  2. I think this links in to the study that was done where a group of men were interviewed, and as long as the word "rape" was never used, they would describe a situation that was them committing rape. Kilgrave's self image doesn't allow that word to apply to him, no matter how justified it is.
  3. I'm enjoying this show so far - I don't watch any of the Shonda shows that apparently make up a lot of this show's DNA so I'm not burnt out on the style. But, wow, I need to learn to not expect this show to make much sense. It's all just vague sinister hints and really pretty people. I'm ok with that, at least for now. But it does not make one damn bit of sense.
  4. This whole show has been a love story between Hannibal and Will from very early on. And really, what happened on screen was, in this particular world's emotional lexicon, a lot more intimate than a kiss. I'm also a little bit dismayed by the end-of-credits scene. I know that when it all was filmed they were still hoping to come back for another season but I feel like the Thelma and Louise ending just worked better.
  5. This was a beautiful episode, and fun to watch despite knowing that the Olympians were done for pretty early on. But mostly, what tickled me was the fact that Blair and Haley have built a really great brother-sister relationship, and are now at the point where they can jibe at each other and not take it too personally. They still get on each other's nerves but it's more like two kids swatting at each other in the back of a station wagon than anything else. Blair's glee at Haley's crush on the pilot was really cute.
  6. There was a moment in the Affleck Daredevil, when he was spitting blood and teeth into the sink after a fight, when I thought, "Hey, this could really be something." Obviously the rest of the movie didn't turn out that way. But this show is all that moment.
  7. I am satisfied. And going to miss this show like hell. We decided to cut our cable so I watched this episode slowly pacing on a treadmill, completely captivated.
  8. Adam might have been able to pull something safe off if his out-there design had been a better one, but it was not only a very distant take on the assignment but it was also kind of crappy design all on its own. It looked goofy, not terrifying. Emily and Darla did such good work, but none of the others did much for me. I agree that the wooden dummy looked a lot more like a stereotypical 1950s jock and the costuming added to that.
  9. Oh yeah, this is definitely the MCU's Madam Masque origin story. They had Talbot say "the mask" and "that mask" several times, and then threw in "masquerading" on top of it - just a little overemphasis to point it out.
  10. Yeah, the only place I know it from is a skit from In Living Color. I don't think it's out much in the world anymore.
  11. Hah, I'm fairly sure Boyd and Ava's new names were not "au fait" but rather "ofay.
  12. She said something like it in the introduction when the teams were first meeting. Paraphrasing, but it was along the lines of, "I thought, oh my gosh, what if my partner doesn't like silly little blondes?" I remember it because it made me feel icky.
  13. I'm pretty solidly a fan of both. I think Agent Carter benefited greatly from having a set 8 episodes to get in, tell a story, and get out, and probably more shows could benefit from that kind of treatment. Agent Carter has a lot of charm and is probably the better show between the two, but SHIELD has been doing some captivating storytelling and I'm eager to see where we're going when the show returns. I want both, and don't feel like I have to pick one over the other.
  14. As far as I can tell the room and all the books in it were holographic like Jefferson, which is why he could pick stuff up and why they couldn't take books out. I suppose it means that if they were able to use the room as a resource, Jefferson would have to turn the pages of the books for them! Why not come back with heavier weapons, shoot all the mole men in the tunnel, and return to use the chamber as needed? I think the reporter's character introduction suffered a little bit from giving him two big motivations: Save! my brother and Discover! the story. It meant that his drive to be a journalist upstaged his worry as a brother at a few points.I wish Abby had just said, "We're biblical witnesses who are here to stop the apocalypse, people in town are usually killed by demons or evil witches, and my buddy here used to knock drinks back with George Washington. Go ahead and print it, see what happens."
  15. I don't know where they're going with Sousa - antagonist is an interesting choice, but they could also do something with the "desire to prove oneself" theme that they've had working with both him and Peggy. If he believes he's found a traitor in the ranks, he might not stop to listen to her explanations if he things bringing her in will get him more respect. I don't see it going that way, but it could be interesting. I...kinda shouldn't have gone on the Agent Carter Tumblr tag because they really, really hate Thompson there. I can't see how writing him off as a sexist, ableist jerk who doesn't deserve any screentime does the story that's unfolding any good. He's been more than that from the start and whether or not he's Mr. Peggy, his character is being handled pretty well and adds some shading and dimension. I think it'll be hard for me to see Peggy with anyone for a while longer. Although I might be good with pairing her up with Dum-Dum Doogan!
