  1. I read MacArthur's rant differently. While he does not have a great view of white women, that whole paragraph was about women of color--AOC, Ilhan Omar, etc winning seats in the House over straight, white men. MacArthur may believe that a womans place is in the home, but if he had to vote between a white Christian Republican woman and a black man, he would vote for the woman. You can't lose sight of the white supremacy that underpins MacArthur's worldview. Unfortunately, Jeremy won't care about any misogyny in his mentors sermons. Felicity may be allowed to go to college one day, but it will be for a "female" degree like teaching or nursing, or a general BA in English, art or music. I can also see him encouraging her to attend a Christian university where she will also be pursuing a Mrs. degree.
  2. Look, I know a few places where I can hide a body. None are in Arkansas, but I have my spots in some different states. They don't call it The Great Dismal Swamp for nothing.
  3. Many people do. Grammatical errors like that happen no matter the education level. I noticed that one, but wasn't phased by it. Loose/lose is the one that gets me. Like nails on a chalkboard when I encounter it.
  4. The Medium Place is not really purgatory because in the show it's static. No one moves from the Medium Place to the real Good Place. The Catholic concept of purgatory is that it is a temporary place where souls go to after death to purify themselves before being good enough to get into heaven. How long a soul stays there varies, but eventually everyone will move on unlike Mindy. Within the show, people would still end up in the Bad Place. Some are never going to do the work necessary. Some are always going to be unrepentant assholes. I don't see Brent ever trying to become a better person if he knew he was in purgatory. Or if he did, it would take centuries before he could get over his disbelief and start trying.
  5. Brandi definitely wore that costume better than Kyle. I noticed she had some clear straps to help keep the bodice where it is supposed to be.
  6. I really like the Kevin/Nicky relationship. They are both getting something out of it which is helping to fill the huge, gaping hole in each of them. They both need each other, and are slowly becoming better people because of the time spent together.
  7. All of the pieces Travis wore are fine on their own when mixed with other clothing and accessories. The look becomes tacky when you wear them all together. I wonder if these were all existing pieces that were already in his closet. LeeAnne's talking head about how she did not have any mid-life crisis appropriate clothing in her closet. That look she was sporting while uttering those words fit the bill. Seriously, that hairstyle should not be worn by anyone over the age of 14.
  8. I will say that I actually believe the text under the photo unlike many of Joy's sisters' posts. This may have been an arranged marriage, but I see actual affection between Austin and Joy.
  9. I have to watch this later. Need to get my Good Place points watching the Browns.
  10. Nah, she had the wine out in the open during the date. I spied the bottle sitting on the island next to her laptop. The trip to the pantry was her trying to give the young lovers a moment without prying eyes.
  11. Also, what would that doctors appointment actually accomplish. Dementia is a complicated diagnosis with various treatment options. Rebecca lives on the West Coast now and one doctor's appointment in Philly is not going to help her in the longterm. Rebecca needs to see (and maybe she already has) a doctor where she is living, and then she and Miguel can map out the best plan going forward. Randall needs to take a moment and speak to Miguel and Kate and even Beth about these changes with Rebecca. Take some time to learn about the disease, and how he can help his mother. I will admit that I believe Randall is still silently fuming to himself that Rebecca should never have moved. He is upset and hurt that she moved to be near her new grandson. His house is not the center of the Pearson universe anymore. I can see this getting pretty ugly going forward.
  12. Which is why he has no case against TLC or his father-in-law. Unless JB forged his signature on a contract.
  13. Based on Jill's Instagram, I think she is trying to better herself at Derick's encouragement. I believe he loves Jill, knows she has problems, the root of those problems is her shitty parents, and he is trying to help his wife. Dude still has a shitload of issues, but I see him trying, and so is Jill. Jill needs space from her parents and she also needs to be able set her own boundaries.
  14. Given the circumstances of Baby Jack's birth, I am not surprised to see both Kate and Toby being over the top. It's also Toby's nature. Jack is also the only child they will ever have, so I forsee both of them going overboard with everything. Kate is spending too much time on the Internet reading up on how to be the "perfect" mom. That way lies madness, but Kate is in too deep and cannot see that yet. I hope in the second part of the season we get more Kate storylines. Right now, I can't help but think that Kate is alone with Jack all day with the walks with the neighbor being her only regular trip outside. The show has not established if Kate has some kind of outlet like Toby going to the gym. Did Kate find another kindermusik class for Jack? Does she have girls nights with Madison? etc.
  15. I get why Randall would see that something is off with Rebecca. He is not with her all the time and the changes with Rebecca are small and easy not to notice. I wish he would have approached Miguel first because Miguel is Rebecca's husband. It's not Randall's place to insist on Rebecca seeing a doctor, it's Miguel's. Even if Rebecca is diagnosed with dementia, Randall is not the one who is with her everyday, Miguel is.
  16. Canned potatoes are a thing, and my family has used them for different recipes. They are peeled baby potatoes that can easily be added to a soup or used to make the ENC staple boiled potatoes. Out of all the egregious recipes Jill has posted, this is not one of them. I also make soup by opening a bunch of different canned vegetables and dumping them into the pot.
  17. Randall went about it all wrong. He should have waited and talked quietly to Miguel about it instead of bumrushing Rebecca after a long day. Maybe even do some research into dementia before confronting her. And he did confront her. That was not a son speaking to his mother about her concerning behavior. He got nasty real fast after Rebecca pushed back. That was uncomfortable to watch even if it was completely in character with Randall. He is probably going to lash out at Kate next week for her not noticing Rebecca's decline. The only saving grace for me is knowing Rebecca is at Kevin's house in the flashforward. It's good to know that Randall gets his control issues in check at some point.
  18. That part got me too. Those were the words kid Kevin needed to hear from Jack but never did. Nice call back to the pool episode this season, and then cutting it with toddler Kevin and Jack playing on the bed, and I was weeping. I was not happy to see Rebecca struggling financially with the house and relying on Randall for support. I hate that the show went this way even if all the signs were there.
  19. Yeah, that looks like a heart attack on a plate. Then you wash it down with liquid sugar for a nice diabetes chaser. Jed will have to buy some new suits come January.
  20. I do think the monarchy will continue with Charles. One thing that has helped Charles is how long Elizabeth has reigned. Every year that she continues to reign in this century is one more year ago that a Charles related scandal has happened. It's another year since the death of Diana. The population of Great Britain gets older, they begin to forget, etc. Charles is also in his 70s. People know his reign will be short.
  21. I have to say, I don't like the name Bella Milagro Duggar because it mixes too many languages for my taste. To my ear, Bella is Italian, the middle name is Spanish, and then you finish with Duggar.
  22. I was taught that too. I will bring a card with some cash or a gift card to the reception, but not something that the couple then has to transport at the end of the night. Steve also really messed up with calling that out. Didn't we already see a pile of unopened gifts in LeeAnne's house in an earlier episode? It bugs when I see someone not be able to get the story straight. I don't expect any reality in these shows, but I do want a consistent narrative.
  23. I noticed that too, but I know babies are constantly growing. That sleeper either fit her last week or a Seewald bought it for her so Jessa made sure to pack it.
