  1. You're most likely right. In that light, could I please ask for a thread that's reserved for book talk up to what happened in the show? I myself hesitate to open the book thread as I'm only up to book three in reading and the book thread seems to be full of spoilers for the entire series. And I'd really like to have a discussion on the differences between what the first book did and what they opted for in the series.
  2. Question: Is Book 1 talk allowed in this thread (and other episode threads) now that the season is over, or at least the parts that the showrunners have clearly decided to handle very differently? I think it could be interesting for the viewers to know the original intentions. Of course if these are to be kept purely show-based, I'll keep to the book thread.
  3. Of course, you're right about that. What I was trying to say is that it isn't really a factor for me personally in deciding whether I like a show or not. I liked the implied gay scene well enough, certainly more than the drama between Rand and Egwene. But that's not what I choose to watch this genre for, give me some nice and flashy sword and sorcery, and I'm a happy geezer. ;)
  4. I took the Mat-Perrin dialogue in the last episode, when Mat was giving him the dagger from his wife, to indicate pretty heavily he had feelings for him. (The way he said "... or the life of someone that I loved", looking at him.) Though honestly, I couldn't give less of a damn, I'm not watching a fantasy show set in what's very much based on medieval Europe for social commentary.
  5. And I just noticed I wrote this atrocity, sorry for that.
  6. Has anyolse get a very The Eleventh Hour-like vibe from this pilot? My thoughts are still a jumble but I probably went from carefully optimistic to carefully very, very optimistic during this premiere. :)
  7. Right now, my guess is that they will manage to create the uproar they are aiming for, but it will be mainly the mostly decent characters from the lab who don't really have a lot to do with the last season's events including Barb's death that take the blame (like the Paul Reiser character).
  8. I picked it out right away, but that might have something to do with the fact I'm a serious sucker for the latest It adaptation. :) It's exactly for the reason the atmosphere of the film has so much in common with Stranger Things (Finn Wolfhard being only the start of it).
  9. Okay, since nobody has mentioned this so far, I've got to. Was Bob's story about a white-gloved guy offering him a balloon pretty straightforward reference to It? You know, the movie which shares one of the main child stars with ST?
  10. "You're new. Not much of a rind on you." Repeated so often it stuck in my mind. I really liked the original Clem. :)
  11. I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED how the librarian called Margo Janet. Great shout-out. :)
