  1. Wow, I hate Rory. He already bailed when she needed him (ditched her on her birthday AND doesn’t answer her calls? Shit friend). Now he wants to hold her back because he has no follow through? She was right in the first episode to point out that their situations are not the same, so he’s trying to keep her poor while he always has the family cash to fall back on. So far, I’m siding with his dad.

is there some current meaning for fleabag or fleabaf or fleafag that some of us are unaware of?

Phoebe Waller-Bridge had a one woman show that became a limited series called Fleabag, that was about a woman who was an utter disaster and treated her loved ones terribly. It got a ton of rave reviews.

Gregory's "advice" and the emotional fallout was entertaining.  I felt for him as a fellow introvert, but working as a teacher is a choice.  Hopefully, he can decompress and recharge at home! Tyler James continues to make great use of his side-eye. I also suspect him being one of the few black male teachers is part of why the students were drawn to his classroom.

He’s also allowed to decompress at lunch. If he wants to let the kids hang out with him, he certainly welcome, but I never hang out with my students on my lunch break and never will. I’m a better educator when I can recharge, and I deserve my downtime as much as anyone else who takes their breaks at work.

A huge problem I’m seeing in education right now is that districts and related services providers can’t hire anyone to fill roles for IEPs because they allocate a laughably low salary for the positions and no qualified candidates will even consider such low paying positions.

They won't say anything but it is a clever way to hide her pregnancy. I wonder if the filming of next season will be delayed due to Rose recovering from giving birth.

They won’t stall production for that. Most likely just write in a convenient opportunity for Sam to be gone for an episode or two. But if she’s already pregnant enough to show, there’s an excellent chance that she’ll be back from maternity leave by the time they start filming season four. She’s likely to be in her second trimester if she’s made it public, so she should have the summer to recover before filming begins.

  5. Román Zaragoza looks like he gives good hugs, based on the last dream of Jay’s. Also, the ref’s shirt was doing a lot to show off his arms.

In terms of plot, I do really need to see Sam do something really nice for Jay. Not in terms of gifts either, but go to bat for him the way he always does for her and the ghosts. I don’t really know what, exactly, but he gives the most of anyone in this cast, and they really need to give him some of the love they so freely get from him.

  6. Wasn’t there a joke on 30 Rock that wealthy 52 is middle class 38? Age shows different when you have a nutrient dense diet, easy access to healthcare, and certainty that you’ll always be able to provide a home for yourself and your family. I can easily buy that a 36 year old who struggled with substance abuse would be as weathered as Ethan Hawks is just because of the years passing.

  7. I kind of like that Bear and Jackie’s relationship was sort of casually confirmed. It’s refreshing to have a show just trust the audience.

Other than that, no notes. This was a rare finale that perfectly encapsulated everything the show has been, from character to setting to plot. I’ve learned so much about grief and healing and community from this show, and hopefully will see all these creators taking on projects as beautiful as this. Mvto to them.

  8. Chvon is a Mvskogee term for boy in the same way that an English speaker would call a boy son in an affectionate/familial way. It’s Irene’s pet name for Cheese, but any elder speaking to a younger guy could use it. I think either Bucky or Brownie called Big that, because he’s a generation younger than them.

I graduated in 1976 so was shocked that I am contemporary to the elders; thought they were all much older than 64 - 65.
Gonna have to watch the episode again because the whole time I was doing the math in my head about everyone’s ages and how there are two generations to come that we know in the show - those of Cookie’s time and then the reservation dogs.
Long story short, this episode made me feel very old.

Three generations. We got this episode with the current elders, Cookie’s generation is mine (born late 80’s/early 90’s) and then the current Reservation Dogs.
From the struggles we’ve seen all the generations endure, grief, poverty, drug addiction, food deserts, limited healthcare, it’s no surprise that they’re wearing their age heavily.

  10. I’m rewatching because Fall is imminent and this show is my cozy show, but I don’t know why I didn’t ever notice before, but the Bracebridge Dinner is referred to as a recreation of the 19th century multiple times.
The 19th century? The Regency, Jane Austen, Brontë sisters, Victorian Era, Gilded Age, steamships, locomotives, Industrial Revolution 19th Century? Because everything about it was a Medieval Times minus the joust. I just don’t understand why they wouldn’t just say 15th or 16th century.

  11. I rewatched the whole show and the first time, I thought that Flower’s basketball references were over Pete’s head because they were from a different period, but I realized it’s entirely possible that Pete and Flower were born in the same year, or at least very close to each other. Someone born in the early forties would be in their late twenties in 1969 and their mid forties in 1985. So him not knowing the same stuff she does just means that Flower is superior in basketball knowledge.

  12. Boarding schools were in operation for almost the entirety of the 20th century. I once heard that any living Native adult who hasn’t personally experienced boarding school has a parent or grandparent who did. I don’t know how true that is, but it’s horrifying.

  13. Jerry Orbach (Glenn O’Brien round two), Dick Van Dyke (Ken Whittingham), and Leslie Nielsen (Lucas Hollingsworth)

Incidentally all three were Dorothy’s love interests.

What did Blanche and Rose name their tap dancing group in the episode where Dorothy has foot surgery?

And seeing the clips of him younger and with his own group of friends/family was probably a big moment for Bear.  Could he be looking at a version of his future?

The friends were Bear’s family/elders. He mentioned Mabel and Brownie, who are Elora’s grandmother and uncle. Buchanan is Bucky. Irene is Cheese’s adoptive grandmother.

Interesting choice to not have Bear talk to the cops and try to intervene in some way. The guy wasn't hurting anybody.

More likely than not he’s a danger to himself. He’s drinking filthy water and definitely shot Bear with a tranquilizer dart. Also, I can see Bear, having had the experiences he’s had, not wanting to tangle with non-res cops if he can avoid it.

And... what is a guy who died at Little Big Horn doing there? OK is not MT.

He’s Bear’s ancestor who’s been called to be his spirit guide. Hence calling him “Nephew/Grandson”. He’s not a ghost haunting a specific place, he’s from the spirit world and can move about freely. Which is why he’s able to hang out with Genghis Khan, who, to my knowledge, never left Asia.

I’d like to see Gregory Zaragoza on here at some point. His son Román worked with Dallas Goldtooth (William Knifeman) at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, but I doubt he’d be able to make an appearance.
