  1. I never read the book, but it sounds like it's in the same campy/crazy vein as all of V.C. Andrews' work. So, it's amazing to me that Lifetime could take something like that and make it boring. Also, the older Audrina? Looked about 15 the whole time, so it seemed a little skeevy, especially because Arden seemed about 25.
  2. I'm just over halfway through the first book, so I thought it would be safe to watch this and not get spoiled. However, I almost universally hated it. I get that changes have to be made when adapting material, but I hate when they change things that don't really need to be changed. I'm not sure why they had to be grad students instead of kids just going to college, and I don't like when shows feel a need to heavily foreshadow big events that will happen later. Why do we need the conversation with Fogg at the beginning of the show? Do we really need to know that Quentin is some big savior in order to get invested in the show? I'll likely watch a few more before I decide for good, but I just really didn't like the first episode.
  3. I also did this during the whole show. I kept fastforwarding because I thought it meant commercials were about to start. I didn't think either group sounded all that great in the final performance, although I did think Vanessa had a lovely voice when she auditioned for the song.
  4. Yeah...even if they're just sleeping together and cuddling (like they claim)...I'm still not sure I'd be ok with that. You have a boyfriend/girlfriend back home but are sleeping with someone else. That doesn't sound like such a good idea...
  5. What I don't understand is why they went back to the day of the summit just to try to stop the bombing. You have a time traveler; maybe you go back earlier and stop Erica? Also, why just six hours (or whatever it was) before the bombing? And, who cares about stepping on butterflies? How do you not know that this is not how it was always supposed to happen? It all seems a bit too thrown together.
  6. I'm not sure how involved Parker was in the movies, but the books clearly took a nosedive after he died. This movie was confusing to me - I kept thinking that I had seen it before, that a bunch of the story felt like it had been in other movies, but it was clearly a new movie.
  7. So, I find myself not really liking each individual episode, but I'm really interested in the overarching plot. What is Cassandra's deal? What's up with Ginny? What's going on with Wesley Snipes? Who are the gamblers? That is all interesting, and I like the episodes when they go into that. The main storylines don't hold my interest much, because the player basically has to win for the show to keep going forward.
  8. I know this show is nothing new, but I find it strangely compelling. I mean, if you think back to early ER, there's not much different going on there. Really, this isn't all that different from ER at its peak; there's just fewer characters to focus on, and we don't see them outside the hospital at all.
  9. I was never a Dom fan, but his "boys" cheer as he left? Made me really glad he went home. Also made me hope that one of the women comes back from Star Salvation and wins the whole thing (my personal preference is Rue). That cheer made me dislike all the remaining contestants.
  10. I didn't like the physical comedian at all. Even though the movements were funny, I thought it was rather woman-hating, really. I mean, I think he was supposed to be making fun of the way he looks because these were the type of people he was getting set up with, but it really came off badly to me. I loved Amy Miller. I thought the getting shot joke at the end was really funny, but didn't think it really went with the rest of her set. Some of the others I was surprised got through, and didn't find many of them funny overall. Still, I'm in to the end...
  11. I am strongly debating giving up on this show. The first episode wasn't great, but it at least had some interest. Now it all just seems so predictable. I quite like Anna Friel, and I'm interested to see how she'll make it out (since I'm certain they're not going to kill her off). Otherwise, the rest of it just seems like every other conspiracy thriller I've read/watched.
  12. I actually thought they were setting up for the fireman to come back - it seemed like such a good story line since Michael told him to add more cinnamon. They kept showing clips, and so I was convinced that's where the story was headed. I'm a little surprised August came back, honestly.
  13. Ok, so Cam and Mitchell bought an expensive couch (also, Cam mentioned the designer died, so maybe they also bought it now because prices were about to go way up for them). But, why put it in the living room and take away most other forms of seating? Why not put is somewhere where you mostly look at it and don't sit on it? If you are going to put it in the living room, why don't you just put a slipcover on it? It would save the couch in most instances, and you can take the cover off when you want to show it off to people.
  14. I thought it was weird that after the signature and technical, when they were discussing top and bottom, Richard was one of the top contenders, because his signature was good even though he was last in technical. However, Martha was in the bottom, because her signature was bad, even though she was first in technical. Shouldn't both of the contestants be ranked the same? Otherwise, it seems like the technical doesn't contribute overall to the standings and who gets sent home, which makes it all seem a little pointless.
  15. So, I understand that it's all fairy tale handwaving at this point anyway, but I still find it a little gross that Hook had this great love affair with Bae's mom (Rumple's wife), and now Hook likes Emma, who is Bae's ex...a little strange to be fighting a guy for a girl, when the guy previously had an affair with your mom...
  16. I'm far, far too old for this show, but man do I love watching it for some unfathomable reason. Anyone know the story with Cohutta and Nani? I would have expected them to be paired because it was such a big storyline last season, and they even said they were dating at the reunion show. But he's not on this season...sadly. I don't reall mind the Are you the one people. I don't want the Real World, and they already had new people in from Fresh Meat, so new faces are just new faces. I've never been a huge Diem fan, but she grew on me a little bit, and it's going to be sad watching her on the show, and especially CT. I kinda miss Devyn. She gives great sound bites.
  17. I just don't understand the point of front of house in restaurant wars. I don't do super-fancy fine dining, but I've never seen this role in a restaurant. They're supposed to greet and seat people, serve the food, explain the food and talk to everyone? I don't really need someone checking in with me besides my server. I just don't see why the show can't find competent servers and just let the chefs cook and bring out food. It seems to me that with good waiters, you don't need someone in the dining room making sure everything is going smoothly. Is this something that chefs are actually going to need to be able to do?
  18. Technically, it is wings the food, not the band or tv show. ;) I loved the cold opening. Holt reacting so violently to having the winning guess (and being so super into guessing why she was late) was so great I laughed out loud through the whole opening credits.
  19. I just loved the quote from the email in the stabbing storyline: "You are a pile of human fences." That had me laughing for quite awhile.
  20. As others have noted, the entire introductory scene between Maggie Q and Dylan McDermott was terrible. First off, he makes rather terrible jokes. Then, he compounds his problems by talking about her clothes. I just wanted her to turn around and say, "I'm not required to like you. We just have to be professional." I guess I can understand someone wanting to know why they aren't liked, but she didn't owe it to him. She just had to not be unprofessional (as his comments were). I actually found parts of this show genuinely creepy. I will probably stick around for at least a few more episodes.
  21. Season 2 is on Netflix - but only discs. It's not on instant. I think that might be because Acorn has their own streaming site.
  22. I can't understand why Bravo would air this episode first. Of all the upcoming contestants they've previewed, these two have to be among the two most disliked. I basically can't stand Marcel, and this appearance didn't change anything. Then, I didn't mind Richard until he got all sour grapes about Stephanie winning (who I loved), and his every appearance has made me like him less. I would think they would want to start off with contestants who people really liked, at least at first, to get off to a strong start. That said, it all did feel contrived. I thought it was interesting that Gail voted for Marcel for everything.
  23. At the end of last season, I was really worried about the show and how they would handle the pregnancy. I thought it was completely unnecessary to the show and something I was not looking forward to (not a baby fan). However, I thought they had handled Jane's reaction to the whole thing rather well and realistically. Then, we got this episode. Angela's actions were so completely out of line. She had specifically asked her mother not to tell anyone, and it's not Angela's news to tell. If that had been my mom, there would have been more than just me complaining, there would have been a huge fight ending with me basically never telling my mother anything ever, again. I don't know if the writers thought this was supposed to be endearing, but i tmade me greatly dislike a character I already wasn't a huge fan of. She may be a well regarded actress, but I see no purpose for Angela on the show and would prefer we see way less of the character.
  24. I quite enjoyed the show, although I found her whole reaction to the alien on the ship completely unbelievable. Wouldn't seeing your dead loved one make you even less likely to open the door than a total stranger (or alien for that matter)? I couldn't believe she just opened the door without talking or screaming or anything. Completely crazy.
  25. From what I have gathered of the British system, there are no DAs like in the US. The private attorneys get assigned to cases, and can switch back and forth between prosecution and defense (like the female lawyer), although they can also specialize and do one or the other. Also, the barristers (the ones who argue in court) before they are made silks, apparently cannot refuse a case, which is odd to me. I thought the woman attorney using information she had learned from her lover in the case was a huge no-no. In fact, in the US, there would have been some wrangling about her being on the case with someone she was so well acquainted with being a witness. She could face some consequences for not revealing the relationship. I'm not sure about Britain though. Overall, while the first half was interesting, the second half really lost me. Are we supposed to like the character who found a sneaky way to murder his wife's killer and get away with it? I just thought the show fell apart in the second half, and was a bit mystified but all the positive reviews I had read, for what seemed a fairly standard/predictable legal drama.
