  1. Not gonna lie, I would consider being friends with LaLa for that reason. Loved all the drama this episode after a relatively boring episode last week. Also, Taco Bell is amazing Also, I live somewhere with no access to one, so I think I crave it more...
  2. This show kinda soured me on the Property Brothers. I'm not a huge fan by any means, but I've watched their Brother v. Brother show, and the Las Vegas house episode, and will watch the various PB shows when it's on...but they were just too much in this show. Drew and Linda were always so constantly "on" it was annoying, and it was like Jonathan had to ramp all that up too to match them. It was all just tiring. Plus, the house just was a little too much...everything. It didn't look like a comfortable place to live, more a model home or something used to sell other houses in the development. I know this is a conceit for the show and they didn't hid it much, but why couldn't we watch the reno from start to finish and not have to do the kitchen from start to finish in one episode? It was silly when we're seeing things in the 5th episode that happened at the start of the whole project. Also, the whole "we're having a party in 12 weeks and have to finish by then" was stupid. Finish the house, and then have a party. Is that so hard to schedule?
  3. Saw a commercial for the new season and it has Asaf in it. I really hope he’s not on the show. He’s already been on So You Think You Can Dance and Are You the One, and I am over this dude.
  4. I think a big problem for me this season is the casting. With this show, you need people to at least stick to the pretense that they are their to find their perfect match, even though they're really there for exposure and money. In this cast, they're not really hiding well that they're not there for perfect matches, hence all the ridiculous hook ups and fighting and what not. It all seems a bit fake, and maybe they're worse actors than previous casts, but it seems like they really don't care about the dating part. While I understand this isn't really a dating show...that's at least the premise and I wish they would try to make it seem like that's why there there.
  5. So...Aaron messes up the challenge, says he would save himself (which I generally don't have a problem with...it's a competition after all) but then when they have to be unanimous, it appears he wasn't willing to vote for anyone but himself to be safe. If I were Thea I would have told him to shove it and we're all cooking. Not a good look on Aaron's part. I also hate that Masterchef always makes team leaders make these choices. Just have the judges do it or something. It's basically stupid not to save yourself, but if you do save yourself, you look like a selfish person.
  6. Was the other grandma maybe on The Great Food Truck Race? They both look so familiar, and I know I've seen them on other Food Network shows. Thanks for the info wings707; All Star Academy never would have occurred to me for Sherri. I like the different format for this show. It's basically just Food Network Star with Guy as the host/judge, but I like it when he's a bit more serious and has less of his "schtick" but I don't really mind Guy all that much anyway.
  7. I have decided that this whole show is a satire of flip/remodel shows. There's no other explanation for it. In all seriousness, though, somebody must buy their homes or they wouldn't have a business. I just wonder if they would do better if they went a little more traditional. I don't care how great the location or price was, there's no way I could ever buy the gold condo. Too much to fix...basically you would have to redo almost everything.
  8. Not an estate attorney but also an attorney. Most wills I've seen now state "if we both die together" or something along those lines. As in, I leave everything to my husband but if he dies before me, or we die together, then leave everything to x. This wasn't discussed, but if she didn't have a will, or had one before the boys were born, the boys would automatically inherit. I know that if you murder someone you don't get to benefit from that, so that's why Kitty's family believed they would get it, but it was all a bit unclear what happened with the inheritance situation. As for the abuse being admitted as evidence, if the judge in the second case didn't believe their abuse amounted to self-defense, then there was no reason to admit the evidence; it would have been more prejudicial than probative to the jury (basically, it's evidence the parents were bad people and deserved to die - again, assuming the self-defense theory wasn't allowed). It really doesn't matter why they did it if they can't claim self-defense and didn't argue insanity or something along those lines.
  9. I thought the talk of the men at the match-up ceremony was getting pretty dicey. They were all upset that "these girls" were being stupid and what not and it was not a good look for most of them. Also, they've clearly had no luck trying to figure out their matches on their own, so why not just do a random reshuffle? I love how people try to play down the whole "game show win money" aspect of it, because honestly (and probably especially with this group) they might have just as much luck with random luck and playing the numbers than by trying to figure out their perfect match by "following their hearts."
  10. I was fairly young when this all happened, so didn't have much of an idea about the outcome of the case at the time. If most of this show is true, I'm willing to buy the abuse story. But, as this episode illustrated, you legally have a problem arguing self-defense because of the abuse. They were in no immediate danger (as in, their father wasn't about to kill them right then), so it's not a true self-defense claim. I can see how a jury would still convict them. A real sad story all around, really, regardless of what the truth is.
  11. I'll admit that I have a very strong Tori love for no real reason...but how did she suddenly become the villain of all this? She basically just came in, competed well, seemed to keep her head down and didn't throw a fit when she got put into elimination, just sent other girls home...and now somehow she's this terrible person? I know Camilla is crazy, and Tori sent Britni in, but it seemed like a story that just came out of nowhere. She's no Johnny Bananas. I also love Cara, but man was tonight not a good look for her. That said, it seems she and Jordan don't get along; why is she shocked he doesn't want to partner with her? All she had to say was "I don't want to run a final with you either" and leave it at that. She just basically proved his point. So happy to see Johnny get beat in an elimination! Maybe that will mean next challenge people won't be so scared of him and he won't just get a free pass to the final...one can hope.
  12. I know they told terrible stories, but did anyone else get the impression that they were maybe glossing over some of the the really bad stuff or weren't telling everything bad that happened? Clearly Nathan and Tara had terrible experiences at the ranch, and were abused, but I kept feeling like they were dancing around anything truly terrible or maybe weren't telling everything bad that happened to them? Maybe I'm wrong, but it's just this impression I got.
  13. If they were going to have an episode where they paired up hair and make-up artists, they should have ensured they eliminated them equally, or else changed the challenge. I think it was unfair for them to have two hair stylists and then be expected to do hair and make up. That said, John deserved to go for insisting so hard that they don't do make-up. I hate that they ask who should win/who should go home on these shows. They asked John, and it was clear that it was between him and Sandy to go home. So he says "I don't want to go home" which really did answer the question because obviously that means Sandy. Then when he finally says Sandy, they all freak out that he's throwing his teammate under the bus. I don't see that there's any answer he could have given that would have been enough for the judges. Really unfair that Tyme is still in the competition. It sucks she got hurt, but if you miss a challenge, you shouldn't be able to continue on.
  14. I think I'm a terrible person because I laughed so hard at Lyle not being able to wear his hairpiece in jail because they took his glue. I wondered this too. I can only hope it will come up in a later episode.
  15. I totally thought that too! It was almost distracting to me. This show was a bit of a trainwreck, but as I love all things reality competition, I'll probably stick it out until the end.
  16. I was really wondering how they would handle this, since I (also a vegetarian) would have to pass on everything but the dessert and soup (maybe...sometimes soups are made with a meat stock). I mean, are you just supposed to sit there and say "no thank you" or I would hope Kelli would know ahead of time so they could plan an alternate meal. It would be the same with appearances, hopefully someone would be notified ahead of time that one of the cheerleaders was vegetarian (or had a food allergy, etc.) so it wasn't a big problem at the appearance. Also, you would hope they wouldn't do something like send a vegetarian to a BBQ competition!
  17. I thought this was odd - how do you get to be 18 and have no idea how to cook? Brianna also seemed very fragile. This apparently was her first time away from home, and she just seemed completely overwhelmed about everything. She seemed like a very sweet girl, so hopefully she'll go off and do great things with her life.
  18. Any actual dancers have any comment on how they look? I couldn't quite figure out why Kobie was so incredible; she looked fine, but that was it to me. I actually thought Marissa looked really good (even though she appears to be devoid of personality and empathy in real life) and the girl who wears the headband (Leah? I can't get any of these girls straight) looked good and Taylor. Overall, I didn't find the dance that interesting, but it may also be harder to come across on screen. If I was a dancer, I'm not sure if I would like Sharp's coaching style. To show favoritism to one girl and then brush it off as encouraging competition...he's lucky that didn't backfire royally on him.
  19. I started watching this show and it's so bad, it's good? I'm enjoying the heck out of it, even though it's all trash. It took me at least two episodes to get all the blondes straightened out, especially since (almost) all of them are panting over Alex (whose attraction seems to be his money, since I can't figure out why else so many girls would be after him). Also, I know this is completely unfair but I kinda hate Madisson because she has the double s in her name. Also, completely crazy that those other two girls (Chloe? and her not anymore friend?) got in this huge fight and we don't hear anything about possible police involvement or anything...just that the one girl had to have surgery after and the other girl was like "she started it."
  20. I'm really enjoying this show for all the background and research they're giving us. Do I think HH Holmes was Jack the Ripper? No. Does that make this show less entertaining? No. Interesting that the Saucy Jack postcard was stolen. I had never heard that. Also, I thought didn't Jack send a package with a piece of one of the victims, or am I mixing it up with some other case?
  21. I thought it was mildly more interesting in the last 10 minutes or so. However, I've always been annoyed by Paula Patton, so casting her as the lead already means there's a strike against the show. Then, the daughter was just the most annoying character I've seen in a long time. I also found it a little unbelievable that a 8 year old (?) could just run around the city and even go to another school without any adult asking questions about where her parents are. I might give it one more episode. We'll see.
  22. I managed to make it to the point where Hooten fights the tribe members and the lady tells him to maybe avoid getting hit, and I was so done at that point. I was not impressed that the writers thought they were oh-so-clever with throwing in a Fawcett reference since The Lost City of Z has gotten some attention. Also, that whole bit where a guy fights tribal members and the lady tells him unhelpful things? So incredibly overused that I just couldn't take anymore. I only watched around 5 minutes and it was sooo terrible.
  23. Not to get too far off track but it's a dice game that needs at least 12 people and three tables. My point was that while 1,000 sq ft can be small and the way they decorated that house it certainly looked small, it doesn't necessarily have to be that stuffy, closed in, or crowded. There's still room for more than 1 person to do something in a house that small!
  24. I didn't mind this show. Honestly, I'm mostly in it for the start and end, and the stuff in between doesn't bother me as much, but her voice really got to me. She needs to relax a little more on camera. I also really liked that this was what seemed more realistic to me price-wise. I live in a 1,000 sq. ft house and paid $240,000, so this was very close to what I have (although mine is 3 br 1 ba). Their furnishings really made the space look smaller than it is. I've had up to 27 people in my house for Christmas, and regularly host bunco (12 people, 3 tables), and while we're close, it isn't stuffy like this house looked. They needed far less stuff to make it seem bigger and not over-flowing with stuff. I'll keep watching, though, mainly because I like to see the before/afters.
  25. I can't believe so many people had so much trouble with curry. It's not an exotic or gross food. It's just curry. Admittedly it was apparently spicy, but still. It's not like they were asked to eat that gross fish stuff like in Jenna's first final.
