  1. I don't have any opinion on her guilt or innocence, but the last episode showed why character evidence is not supposed to be admissible at trial. The prosecutors basically said she was a terrible person/mother and therefore she obviously killed her kids. It also worked, because as the one juror showed, she clearly killed her children because she got a boob job (the horrors!). That actually turned my stomach. That juror decided that because she wouldn't spend money on a boob job but Darlie would, clearly that meant Darlie would kill her children.
  2. Watching Harrison was painful, because he apparently clearly missed the point of the entire challenge. Instead of just judging the food he was given, he tried to do something else altogether, which I can't exactly figure out. I mean, what show on food network has judges tasting food and then asking about how it could be made differently? That whole sequence was weird and uncomfortable, even without Katie butting in and finishing his sentences (which I hope she was taken to task for, even though we didn't see it).
  3. I was surprised by how the picks went for the food. I can't believe Louise couldn't figure out that sweet snacks that are good to eat (donuts, cupcakes, marshmallows, etc.) would mean eating a serious amount of sugar in a short time. That would kill my stomach. I was shocked that peppers and saltines were left for CT and Tony. Those two seem like a no-brainer. Sure, the peppers are likely to be hot, but they probably aren't going to give you too many and then you eat the saltines to try and cool off your mouth after. I get that saltines can be hard to eat when you've been exercising, but they had water there. It legitimately would have been my first pick. Also, Wes did a terrible job picking - dog food and fish sauce? Bad idea. I just loved CT being so excited for the eating challenge and making "onion wraps" to get everything down.
  4. This annoyed me so much. That's the episode description, and the person confesses 30 minutes from the end of the movie. After about the first 30 min when you've met all the players, you know it's her seemingly random not-connected to the mystery patient because it's the only one that fits the episode description. Also, I don't know why, but it seriously bugs me that Chad Lowe got second billing for the three movies he was in right behind Kelly Martin. Like, the promos show him and her together in every shot. He came in later and she's the lead. Also, is he really a big draw? I'm certainly not going to decide to watch the next Hailey Dean movie based on whether or not Chad Lowe is in it...
  5. The Jehovah Witness episode really didn't go into the cult part much, more just the cover-up of child abuse. I agree with @meatball77 that I'm not sure how this is different than the Catholic Church. I had never heard of NXIVM until the news broke of Allison Mack being arrested. They didn't talk much about the beliefs of the group, it sounded a bit scientology-esque to me. I also can't remember how the group name is pronounced, so in my head I call it "nexium"...
  6. While I do agree that Tamika and Reagan overreacted to the party, at the same time, John knew what he was doing. He put the married guys (and the guy in a committed relationship) in an awkward position. They didn't know this was going to happen, and it's all on film...he seemed to have set up a situation to provoke a reaction.
  7. Man that one bedroom "black and white" condo was horrifically ugly. Most of the time, while she has crazy designs, I think a big problem is her staging. In this case, there were so many patterns everywhere that it was exhausting to look at. They did mention someone would buy the condo as an investment property, and since it was on Las Vegas Boulevard, I imagine it will get rented out.
  8. So the Aurora Teagarden movies were never my favorite of the mystery series, this one really just sealed the deal for me. It was all just too ridiculous. I fast-forwarded through parts of it just to get to the end. I mean, I get that these types of movies are taken from the premise that the heroine (or sometimes hero) who is not a cop is able to solve the case when the cops couldn't, or before the cops, or when the cops had the wrong person. Often, the cops aren't made out to be idiots, but in this movie, it seemed like the cop could do nothing if it weren't for Aurora. Plus, she just went around doing all this digging, meanwhile expecting everyone just to think she's so darn cute and smart. I don't know, I don't mind Candice Cameron Bure, but this movie just annoyed me on so many levels. I definitely won't be watching any more from this series. Most of the characters are annoying, I don't know why but I irrationally hate that everyone calls her 'Ro, and the stepmother was horrible and the dad didn't seem that broken up about his dead daughter...
  9. Yeah, he starts with "I'm miserable" and he is shocked that Brittney thinks it might have something to do with her? And then Jax gets all mad that she's making it about her? That was some crazy going on. He did clarify later, but unless you really are breaking up because the other person makes you miserable, maybe don't lead with "I'm miserable" (or at least expect the other person to take it badly).
  10. So, Patrick proves he is still awful, even without a man-bun. Also, how can an amount of cholula (excuse me, sriracha) be inconsistent? I'm still trying to figure out what he meant when he said "how is the amount of cholula on that mac and cheese consistent?" It literally makes no sense, and you can tell he just thought he was being so clever. Also, cholula and sriracha look nothing alike, and taste nothing alike.
  11. I appreciate that they acknowledge that the way zoos keep and treat animals has changed. We saw it both with the elephants and with Tundra. At the time the animals were acquired, the standards were different, and that there wouldn't be another polar bear to replace Tundra, and the explanation as to why the elephants are still with the zoo and not transferred somewhere else. It also sounds like (I can't remember if they said in the episode or not) that they likely wouldn't have elephants again after the three were gone. I've always been of two minds about zoos, but I appreciate acknowledgment that things used to not be great for the animals at zoos but that they're working to make things better.
  12. I watched about 15 minutes of the preview show before I had to turn it off. I'm excited for this show to start, but I've had more than enough Johnny Bananas, and I just didn't get the point of watching an extended preview of a show I'm already going to watch...
  13. I thought it was nice that when Asia said she helped all the other queens and her outfits suffered, that every other queen standing on stage agreed that she helped everyone. In many other seasons, you would have had queens denying that fact. This group as a whole seems much more supportive of each other than other seasons.
  14. I've never really understood why shows like this make you choose one ingredient to the exclusion of your competitors. Why don't you have a selection of berries, and everyone can choose what they want? Who cares if you do six strawberry desserts? It seemed a little unfair that some people get something like gooseberries, while everyone else gets a very standard, common berry. Similar to the herbs, where cilantro is way harder than mint, for example.
  15. I feel like there was an obvious plot for the butterface app - something along the lines of always being disappointed on dating apps by a girl whose face is gorgeous in the picture but the rest of her is a mess...in this app, you know her face is terrible but her body is awesome. Maybe it would have made as little sense as theirs eventually did.
  16. I watched this Sunday, and still can't get the songs out of my head. Growing up, my sister had the original album and played the heck out of it. I recall watching the movie once, but couldn't get over the cheesy "70s-ness" of it all, if that makes sense. I was surprised by how much of the music I had retained over the years, since I knew most of the words to most of the songs. I thought it was super well done. I also think (whether this is just a choice of this version or not) that while this is the story of Jesus, he's not really the main character. Judas is. As a Christian, and someone who has always thought about Judas and themes of predestination and such, that this production did a good job of showing the struggle Judas went through. I felt bad for him, even though he had done a horrible thing. I watched the Andrew Lloyd Weber tribute earlier in the week (more of a "watch the live show!" promotion) but ALW addressed some of the controversy around JCS. He said that Tim Rice never explicitly made a choice whether Jesus was the messiah or not. People can make their own interpretation of that. I think that is also probably why the show ends at the crucifixion; if you show the resurrection, you're basically choosing a side.
  17. Anyone ever see the French movie He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not? Scheana has started to remind me of that character. Like, she's totally fixated on Rob despite what is little evidence that he likes her all that much. If we hadn't actually seen him on camera a couple of times, I would think she had made up the entire relationship.
  18. I like the Vegas couple quite a bit, actually. Aubrey's voice can be a bit grating, but otherwise they're pleasant enough to watch. While their taste is certainly not mine, it's nice to see something different. I watch all of these Flip or Flop shows, mostly to see the transformations, so it's nice to see something that is completely different from the other shows (even if it is horribly tacky). I also love seeing the crazy hairstyles Aubrey will have for each open house.
  19. When they first brought up the Cracker/Aquaria being twins issue, and showed pictures, I agreed that they looked remarkably alike. However, when they were doing their make-up and Aquaria was complaining about Cracker copying her look, I just didn't see it at all. I didn't even think their brows looked the same. I feel like there's some obvious pun or entendre I'm missing with Yuhua's name. Can anybody help me out?
  20. I just loved at the dinner when Jax is complaining about how Brittany sleeps all day and does nothing, her mom is all "what do you do all day" and then Jax just deflect "we're getting to specifics." I would hope a sane mother would shut that down right then and there - even if you're correct, it's never a good look to complain to your SO's parents about your SO. They're usually going to pick their child over you...
  21. I was surprised how excited I was that this show was back. However, I'm really not liking Kyle this season. I didn't love him before, but he's, what, 34? and acting like a drunk fratboy and it just isn't cute anymore. Amanda seems to tolerate a lot from him, and seems the more mature one in the relationship, and she's about 10 years younger than him. I thought the whole bedroom situation was funny. Everyone wanted the best room and no one deserves it more than anyone else, and so you're just sitting around waiting for the other side to capitulate...they should have just drawn for it.
  22. 4th. Asaf has been on So You Think You Can Dance, Are You The One, AYTO Second Chances and now this. And how sad that I've watched every one of those shows. I think I have to give up on this show. Everyone was so clearly just playing a part and doing things to get attention, that it bugged (I know it's always been that way, but it really bothered me this episode). Also, I don't like Asaf at all. He's not nearly as hot as he thinks he is.
  23. I'll start by saying I'm a Hannah fan, so take it all with a grain of salt, but she's kinda right that there's nothing on tape that proves she lied. We see her run up the stairs, the door close, and hear her say "jason" and some moaning sounds. Now, we don't actually see anything, and we have no idea if the sound actually happened at the same time as the events on screen. We have no idea how long she was in the room. Now, do I think she downplayed what happened to Captain Sandy? Absolutely. Did it go much further than just one kiss? Maybe. I don't know whether she's lying or not, but she was right in that you can't actually prove she lied just from the video. Bobby seems to think that as long as he proves he's right, everyone will bow down to his superiority or something. He would not let anything go, even after he saw that Hannah didn't say anything to Malia about Bobby (he severely overreacted to her joke). He came off like a complete asshole, insisting over and over that he was right about something that literally no one but him cares about. For someone that claims she doesn't think she's better than anyone else, Bugsy sure acted like she was above everyone else and over it at the reunion. After Hannah said something, you could even see her turn and like roll her eyes to Bobby. Also, she claims that she never brought up all her complaints in the workplace, but she certainly spent a lot of time complaining to Lauren about Hannah while they were working, and also complained directly to Captain Sandy.
  24. I've always been a Scheana fan. I have no explanation for it, I just have always liked her. However, after this episode, it's really really hard to still think well of her. It was all just a bad look - clearly wanted to get married to Rob again right away, trashing Shay (while I'm sure it wasn't great being married to an addict, he wasn't solely responsible for the demise of their marriage), it was all not great. Taking what Ariana said at face value, that's not only something she needs to talk about with Tom, but also something she probably should get some therapy about. That's a serious issue and not something that just goes away on its own.
  25. I just finished the book this weekend, and they mention that they didn't land in Toronto. I forget where they initially landed and were processed, but they were on a succession of ships at that point, and at one point had to walk across a sandbar (or something similar) because the boat couldn't make it. I thought the first episode was very well done, and while I realize they have to condense it for the book, they cut out a lot of information about her early life and crossing to get right to Mary (which I get, but there's more information on her family and other things).
