  1. First, I’m willing to pay you for some good ideas here! I need your assistance with a surprise event I’m planning for my wife later this year. Basically my wife loves detective-like shows like Castle, Bones, The Mentalist, White Collar, Psych, Lie To Me, Elementary, and Burn Notice. So my idea is to be fake kidnapped the morning of (I’ll make sure she knows it’s a joke don’t worry), and I’ll have this whole day planned where she tries and figure out what happened and where I’m at. I’ll have clues scattered around the city/state that could help her on this adventure. I’m going to have a main villain, chasing enemies on a speed boat/helicopter, etc etc. Yes it’ll cost me a lot of money, but I have a budget set aside for this whole thing. Where do I need your help? I need ideas for this whole day! I personally haven’t seen these shows so I don’t know any stories or villains, etc, so I’m hoping with your help, you can throw some ideas my way. I’d love to be able to reference ideas/parts of the show throughout the day (she’s seen every episode of every show multiple times). Here’s a few things I’ll be doing: Magazine letter note. The morning of this day she’ll wake up to a paper with those “magazine letters” explaining how “Your husband has been kidnapped, if you want to see him put this <dress> on and go to this location” or something. Fake crime scene. She shows up to a fake ‘crime scene’ with that classic yellow tape blocking the area, where there could be a fake dead body, fake detectives, cop cars, etc. Maybe the killer leaves a hidden clue/note saying “your husband is next, you have 6 hours.” or something. Smiley face blood on a wall, aka Red John. If I recall one theme in The Mentalist is a smiley face in blood on a wall… so I’d love to reference things like that. Last year she randomly bought a lock-picking kit from Amazon (just for fun) to see if she can pick a lock, and she actually got pretty good at it… So I want to take advantage of that by having a part where I’m in a room tied up and in order to get to me she has to pick the lock. At one point her and I can chase bad guys in a sports car/speed boat/helicopter (maybe they also kidnapped our dogs or something). Honestly, the skies the limit with ideas. I’m trying to get all the ideas now so I can start saving money, then start putting everything together for the next several months. I’ve already started sending her clues (like a dozen roses with a riddle) but she has absolutely NO idea what the clues/riddles are even leading to, so she’s quiet confused at this point… especially because it’s months away. But slowly, things will start to make a little more sense and only will that morning she’ll realize what it was all about. Anyway, like I said at the beginning, I’m also willing to pay for some good ideas! I’m not sure what I’d pay, but I want to make sure it’s worth the time you’d take to reply. So again, I’m really either looking for 1) Ways I can reference the shows she watches or 2) Other detective-like ideas on making this day a one of a kind. If you’d rather PM me that’s fine too. Not sure if I’ll even get any replies, but either way thanks for your time in reading up to this point, really appreciate it :) -Val
