  1. I could watch videos of Others footage all day long! I want to know more about them. I also think it says something that Jack seemed happier most of the time with The Others than at any time except maybe parts of the sideways universe and the very end of the series. Now that I'm thinking about the series I think I may love season 3 even more than season 5 while in my original post I flipped that order. The Ben scenes are perfect and like I said above I love the Others. I like Jack around Juliet and The Others a lot more than watching him be the embattled leader of the losties over and over and even liked him a little more when he first came back. Also, like I said I think Kate and Sawyer were the right match because they have so much in common and don't try to change each other even when at times they probably should lol. It would have been a relief to me if the love square had ended then in S3. Jack and Juliet could do medical and scientific research together because god knows the island had a lot of mysteries and eventually start dating. I just see them connecting emotionally and intellectually and she's almost the only person he smiles around. They even look right together to me. Meanwhile Sawyer and Kate could be impulsive and daring adventurers on and off the island. I loved how Sawyer was a cop in the sideways universe because I always think there can be a thin line between breaking and enforcing the law. You can probably tell that English isn't my first language, so please forgive me. I'm just trying to say that I think those four characters could have been great if the square had been resolved for good by the end of S3 and they had gotten more interesting storylines than just who was going to date who and who was jealous that day. I also love the idea someone had about Juliet and Kate eventually becoming friends because they're opposite in some ways and very much the same in others. Speaking of S3 I have another unpopular opinion about it. I love Expose, the episode with Nikki and Paolo. I know why everyone thinks they're annoying but the episode itself is written in a way that makes it interesting and fun to watch.
  2. Maybe I'm misinterpreting you, but just to be clear I wasn't putting down Dean because I want to make Sam look better. I don't care much for Sam either. I just think Dean's an obnoxious, drunken, immature loser. We're supposed to think he's cool and everyone seems to lust over the guy but I think the exact opposite. I also thought of another unpopular opinion which is that I like JJ on Criminal Minds and like her now more as a profiler than I did early on in the series.
  3. I don't really watch Supernatural much anymore but I caught a few recent episodes while home with the flu and realized that I've come to dislike Dean Winchester. If you know anything about that fandom than you know that is as unpopular an opinion as you can get! I always thought Dean was not much more than the typical bad boy hero, the tough hard drinking wiseass who of course is the bravest guy in the world, has a special connection with kids and has what is supposed to be the greatest heart in the world underneath the snarky front. I didn't really get why so many loved him but he was entertaining and enjoyable to watch sometimes before the whole show became so terrible. Not that it was ever as good as some make it out to be but that's a separate opinion! But now that the show's been on for eons and repeating itself over and over to the point of exhaustion, Dean just seems so pathetic to me. He's this alcoholic horndog who lusts after everything that moves and he sounds like he smokes a carton a day. His jokes are unfunny and so immature that it sounds like a preteen wrote parts of the script. He tries to talk macho but sounds like a little boy trying to sound a lot tougher than he is. He makes fun of other people all the time for not being cool enough which again makes him seem like a teenager. Everything that used to be only a little annoying when he was younger or even a little charming to some is now just pitiful. I know he's one of TV's most popular characters but I really don't like him much at all. As you can probably tell, English is not my first language so I'm very sorry to readers and moderators if this post contains errors!
  4. I guess it's just a matter of taste. I think Luke is unattractive inside and out. I knew when I came here that that was unpopular but he's definitely just not someone who everyone will like no matter how many arguments or pictures are posted. The friend I watched with thought he was even worse than I did. I think he's a dour brute who needed major therapy and lessons in communication, perspective, anger management and being a polite human being. I also think it's interesting how Lorelai and Luke only got physical when they had been drinking. Taylor even said in one episode that they seemed to need alcohol. I would probably need to be drunk to pretend to like Luke too. I just never liked the rude, angry, dumb caveman type though.
  5. I have a lot of these! I only liked Jack in the sideways universe, when they traveled back in time in the fifth season and around Juliet in the third season and think Jack and Juliet would have been much happier and just better than Jack and Kate. I always laugh at the part in the seaosn 5 finale when Jack says their relationship was almost all misery. That sums it up! I never understood the big deal about Sawyer and Juliet. They were too different to me and felt like a way of clearing the way for Jack and Kate to end up together instead of a couple that was really meant to be. I agree with whoever said somewhere that the best thing about them is that we hardly saw them so the writers couldn't mess them up too much on screen. Kate and Sawyer belonged together but I didn't like either one very much. I think Season 5 is the best season of the show and the time travel was done much better than I thought it would be! Ben is one of the best antagonists I've ever seen and I enjoyed him a lot more than a lot of the good guys we were supposed to root for. Locke annoyed me for almost the entire series. Miles is so underrated and added a lot of humor that she show really needed. I don't care about Hurley as much as I'm supposed to care about Hurley. The Tailies season felt like a waste but I love the third season. It's my favorite other than season 5. I could watch a whole show on just The Others lol. The scenery on this show is so beautiful that I would watch it just for that reason alone. Sometimes I do!
  6. Maybe it's partly his terrible personality, but I don't find Luke attractive at all. Even when he's dressed in nicer clothes and shaven he's kind of unattractive in my opinion. And his hair is so gross that it's no wonder they always have him in a baseball cap. Plus, he always looks bloated. He migiht be more pleasant to look at if he smiled a little more and weren't so mad and miserable all the time.
  7. I think this is the place where we can express general opinions...? If not, I hope the mods will move or delete the post. I'm new here and still don't always know exactly what I'm doing! Some of these are unpopular, but I didn't find a UO thread. I never liked Stefan. This isn't a Damon vs Stefan fan war thing because I never liked Damon much either. But like someone else said Stefan is the quiet, intense brooder who I usually like on these shows except I don't feel like there's any of the emotional or intellectual depth I sense from those type of characters. He's just boring and annoying to me. I don't think the actor is good at all and don't find him attractive. Like I said, some of these are unpopular! I really wanted to like Stefan but just don't enjoy him at all. But then again I don't think much of Damon and the actor who plays him either. The only difference is that Damon at least sometimes amuses me. So you can tell that the love triangle was always my least favorite thing about the show. I actually like Elena when she's around almost anyone who's not Stefan or Damon. If she hadn't been trapped in the love triangle for so long I actually think I would have enjoyed the character a lot. I don't like Caroline with Klaus or with Stefan. I already explained my thoughts on Stefan, and the thing with Klaus is just creepy and toxic to me. I never liked her much with Tyler either. I think the closest I came to liking any of her relationships was the one with Matt. I think Elijah and Klaus are much more fun to watch than the Salvatore brothers on this show and honestly wish it had been about them instead. I actually don't love them much on their own show but that's probably off topic. Katherine is obviously a terrible person or not person as the case may be, but I enjoyed her so much. She was one of my favorite things about the whole show. Jeremy annoyed me so much and I wish he had left the show sooner. And Bonnie x Jeremy felt so awkward. I didn't think they had any chemistry. I know people hate Elena but I thought her friendship with Caroline was well done. We got the sense that they competed but still loved each other when it came down to it. The actresses just have this way of interacting that makes their friendship feel believable to me. Some of the dialogue and plots are really underrated. I would never have stuck with this show if it was literally just all love triangle stuff all the time which I think is how some people think of it. It's much better than that, at least sometimes! I thought the best seasons were two and three.
  8. Parks and Recreation is a sweet show but extremely unfunny. Sometimes the humor is just incredibly dumb and the same things over and over, like yes we get that Ron hates big government and likes to eat red meat without you telling us that every time he opens his mouth, and other times I don't even think the show is even trying to be funny, just a sugary lovefest. It's the kind of show that makes me happy sometimes because everyone always has their dreams come true, but I really don't think it's smart and witty AT ALL and am so surprised by how many critics think it's one of the most humorous and clever shows. Like replying "it's in your mother's butt" when someone asks where something is passes for wit on that show. That's an actual line from it, and for some reason the show mentions butts all the time like the showrunner's kindergartner hijacked the script. And other times it's just characters telling each other many times that they love each other and hugging and exchanging a bunch of gifts, which is sweet but gets a little much after awhile and just isn't funny. Or maybe I just have the unpopular opinion that Amy Poehler isn't funny. I haven't seen her in a lot of other projects, so I'm not sure. I agree with the people a few pages ago who said that Gilmore Girls' Luke is the WORST. I hate him so much and don't even get why his temper issues and the fact that he never stops criticizing and complaining for one single second are supposed to be cute. Luke and Lorelai had such a terrible relationship and are so mismatched in every way that it surprises me how many people want them back together. But I think almost all the guys on that show are terrible, which seems to be unpopular...? Nearly every male seems to have a serious mood disorder and needs major anger management. I actually think the show in general is overrated. Angel is my favorite show and I really like most of Buffy, but I'm not someone who thinks Joss Whedon is a demigod who can do no wrong. Case in point is that I don't like Firefly at all and think it's one of the most overrated things I've ever seen. The dialogue is a disaster. Trying to blend slang from old westerns and modern English while incorporating some Chinese might SOUND like an innovative idea, but the result is a mess. I didn't love any of the characters and disliked two or three of them. And the romantic pairings that Joss Whedon tried to force together were just terrible except maybe Zoe and Wash. There are a few people on other sites will always steer any conversation back to what a tragedy it was that Firefly was canceled and how anyone who doesn't appreciate its greatness just didn't get it, but I think it's awful and am legitimately surprised it made it to TV in the first place. I didn't like Dollhouse much but think even Dollhouse is better than Firefly.
  9. I have so many!!! I'll try to stick with just a few so you don't get too bored. I haven't seen the show since it ended but am addicted to these unpopular opinion threads so will remember as much as I can. I agree with people who say the show is sweet and happy but not funny. I'm not saying a show CAN'T be both, but this show wasn't. The second season was the only really funny one because it was before the show was too focused on giving everyone perfect lives and tried to be smart and funny rather than just a lovefest. Even then the humor was hit and miss. Everyone says that April grew but I thought she got worse. I liked her much more in the second season than when she later had everything anyone could want and people who kept working every episode to make her happier but was such an insulting, whiny complainer anyway. Shut up, April. I agree with whoever said they wished Ann had told her to drop dead when she asked for a recommendation to vet school. Which April went to for maybe an hour. Ann and Mark remind me so much of each other that I'm surprised so many people love one and hate the other. I actually like the April and Andy relationship more than Leslie and Ben. Like other people here I like April only when she's with Andy. Somehow she's a great wife even though I think she sucks overall. She and Andy are a good match for each other's shortcomings. Leslie and Ben are so perfect that it's boring and not even realistic. And the I love you AND I like you thing gives me diabetes. Leslie in general was a much better character when she encountered obstacles in trying to reach the kind of goals we could relate to. Then the show became about this amazing superwoman who everybody except villains love and works to help as she becomes this great politician and went on to even become...POTUS? LOL. I wish the show hadn't worked hard to convince us that she became too good for Pawnee. Someone said this elsewhere so I'm kind of stealing it but this show has a fixation with butts and stupid immature jokes that are like something a third grader would think is juvenile. It's like it doesn't know how to be funny so has characters say things like "it's in your mother's butt" and "buttface" instead. A small town political satire could have been so genius but they used such dumb attempts at jokes instead. So it's a lovely show with likable people but not even close to the funny and smart show that it should have been.
  10. OMG, there's a thread for my favorite show!!!! So my first unpopular opinion is that this is my favorite show, lol. I'm not really a Whedonite in that I don't care much about most other shows and movies he's done, but Angel just means so much to me. It's like how with a few very select people you just click with and automatically get and love them despite their flaws. That's me with Angel. Fred is my favorite character. I understand why some find her annoying and a Mary Sue. I would probably feel the same if she were written a little differently or played by another actress, but I love Amy Acker. To me she's a much more convincing and less annoying geek than someone like Alyson Hannigan was. And I just relate to Fred so much. The geekiness, social awkwardness, introversion, love of research and ideas, getting over fears and past traumas and forcing yourself out in the world even when it's your instinct to retreat. The sad thing is that I'm not as sweet or beautiful as Fred and barely passed my college bio class so I don't exactly qualify as a scientific genius! I love all five seasons. Every season has some problems and things I wish were different, but on balance I love them all. I find some awesome scenes in even the worst episodes that I'll rewatch. If I had to pick just one, I think I'd go with the fifth. I fell in love with the idea of a romance between Cordelia and Angel and thought they would have worked much better than Buffy and Angel did. And Fred and Wesley are together in a different dimension in my mind or even still alive. We all need a little denial while watching Whedon! So not only did I love Fred but I loved Kate and Lilah. Harmony is one reason why Season 5 might be my favorite and whenever I see that scene of her bonding with Fred in the bar in Harm's Way I find myself wanting to see more of this unlikely but sweet potential friendship. And while I have the unpopular opinion that Cordy was never a top favorite, she grew so much on this show and I came to love her too. So while there may not have been enough female characters and too many of them died, I have the unpopular opinion that this show featured Joss's best female characters as a whole. I actually only loved one of the female characters on Firefly and a few on Buffy, but that's probably off topic here. I love Angel as a character for the most part but I am the only person I know who doesn't think the actor is very attractive, especially in later seasons but even before then. There are a lot of lines about how handsome he is and how gorgeous everyone who meets him thinks he is and I'm always secretly thinking that Alexis Denisoff is way more handsome, at least to me! I may be the only person who didn't care all that much when Doyle was killed off and was very happy when Wesley arrived to take his place.
  11. I had seen some Gilmore Girls episodes here and there but just finished watching the whole series for the first time! I then spent hours reading this thread because you're all so witty and analytical and also because I have no life. So here are my unpopular opinions--- I am among the minority who hates Luke and Lorelai together. Seriously HATES. I agree with whoever said that they didn't have real romantic chemistry past the very first season. I still sort of shipped them anyway and hoped they'd be a good couple, but they were the worst. I don't believe in the Moonlighting Curse, but they were enough to make me rethink that. They're not just opposites, they're like species from two totally different universes who don't understand basic human communication or make each other happy at all. And the actors! They looked like it caused them acute pain to even hug. I get that they'll end up together in the reunion but can't imagine them ever being happy. Their relationship made me like both characters less and just depressed the heck out of me. Most of the romantic relationships on this show are total disasters, but I was amazed to see that Luke and Lorelai still have so many fans even after people saw what they were like together. I understand Rory temporarily dropping out of Yale. I'm not saying it was the smartest and most mature decision, but I related to why she did it. Jess is such an annoying hipster punk stereotype. Even when he came back in Season 6 and was improved he had to remind us right away that he won't eat at a chain restaurant. He tries SO hard to seem way too cool for anything mainstream. The sad thing is that I think he's still the best of Rory's boyfriends because they are all so bad. My friend and I talked about whether the writer of this show deliberately made the male characters so terrible to make us love the main female characters more by comparison? If I had to pick a favorite romantic relationship I would go with Paris and Doyle. I don't even think they've been mentioned here so it's safe to claim that's unpopular. Lane and Zach putting down uncool music was especially annoying when you consider how their band was that incredibly bad. I had secondhand embarrassment for them every time we had to hear them play. I was surprised to read here how many people don't think Lorelai is a good mother. She's not perfect, but I think she was an incredible mom. Not so great as a daughter or girlfriend, but one of the best moms I've seen on TV. If anything I thought the criticism would be that it was too unrealistic that Lorelai was able to give Rory a wonderful childhood when you consider how young Lorelai was when she had Rory and how they started out. I'm pretty sure single teen moms don't usually fare as well as they did. In general I'm surprised that so many people dislike Rory and Lorelai and their relationship. They can be annoying, but literally everyone and everything about this show can be annoying! Their bonding and the show's witty dialogue are the only things I really love about Gilmore Girls overall. I never could make myself believe that Rory was really in love with Logan and was surprised they stayed together as long as they did. Every time they fought or broke up I figured they were just done and didn't really understand why the show kept putting them back together. Rory always seemed so uncomfortable around him. She seemed flattered that he wanted to be with her but something about the way they were together never felt right to me. I laughed so hard at the posts here about he never stops smirking, even during serious scenes. My friend and I talked about how hard it was not to want to punch him even when he was being a good guy because that smug smirk is ALWAYS there! I think I may be the only one who doesn't share the love for Paris. She's like Michel to me in that they're funny in small doses but not people I want around much on my show or in real life. I understand that a lot of people here hate Rory but criticizing her for not being a good enough friend to Paris is hard for me to get. Rory was much more forgiving and understanding of Paris than I think most people would ever be. Finally, I just didn't think the show was as great as I expected it to be. And I don't mean just the last few seasons, but all of it. Actually, if anything I liked parts of the last few seasons more than most people here did! I think the problem is I watched it so late and heard so much hype that there was no way the show could live up to my expectations. I just didn't like most of the characters even though I tried really hard to. The men were especially awful, but even with most of the female characters I felt like they were too annoying and obnoxious to really like. The show just tries so hard to be quirky and unique that it forgets to be likable and relatable.
  12. This is a really interesting topic. I'm in the camp who feels like Paige is so different depending on the episode. Sometimes she's the one most open minded and ready to believe in anything about magic and other times she's very cynical and disbelieving for no reason. Sometimes she's the one who wants more than anything for everyone to get along and avoid conflict while pleasing people and other times she's the most confrontational. I agree with the people who said that they like her most of the time but don't know who she really is even though she was on the show for five seasons because she's so erratically written. I just saw an episode in Season 5, Happily Ever After, where Paige is all down on fairy tales and acts like she never had any interest in them, but in Season 4, there's a whole episode based on the fairy tales Paige used to dream up and they wrote her as this creative, imaginative and dreamy girl who loved fairy tales. That's just one small example of why I feel like the writers kept forgetting how they wrote her every episode. I think she's a lot more like Phoebe than Prue. Paige, like Phoebe, is driven by instinct, intuition and impulse. She's always trying to make up for a rebellious past and deal with the impulsive part of her that could lead her back intro trouble, just like Phoebe. She's never as sure of who she is or what she wants to do with her life, which is also much more like how Phoebe was at the beginning of the show than Prue. Paige isn't written consistently so I'm sure in some episodes she's like Prue, but most of the time she reminds me a lot more of Phoebe. And as someone else observed, by the time Paige came on the show, Phoebe herself no longer seemed like Phoebe! I like Paige and think Rose did a good job, but her coming on the show confused things for the writers because for the first few seasons they wrote the sisters' personalities and behavior as being heavily influenced by their birth order. They were used to writing Prue as the oldest who could be too judgmental, protective and intense, Piper as the middle child who used to be the shyest and wanted everyone to get along, and Phoebe as the passionate and rebellious youngest child. Then when Prue died they not only had to create this new character of Paige but shift the sibling roles so that Piper was suddenly the oldest, which like someone said made her grumpy too much of the time, and Phoebe was the middle child who they suddenly had no idea how to write. Sometimes when people say they didn't like Paige I think maybe they just didn't like the way other things about the show changed when she was on the show. I'm with those who would have liked to see the later seasons with Prue, Piper and Paige instead of Phoebe. She has a look that reminds me of movie stars from the 40s. I agree that she has a really unique beauty.
  13. 1. If you had to pick just two favorite sisters of the four, they would be____ Prue Halliwell!!!! The Phoebe of seasons 1 and 2. If we would have to take Phoebe like she was later on, I'll pick Paige. 2. Your three favorite romantic pairings of the series are ___ I like Prue with Andy. I don't really like the other romances enough to include them! 3. Your three LEAST favorite romantic pairings of the series are _____ Cole and Phoebe. 4. Your three favorite seasons were ____ Seasons 1, 2 and 5 5. Your five favorite episodes are_____ I have a lot more than five and don't think I can pick! I agree with the person who picked Sin Fransisco and Morality Bites as two of the best ones. I would include Sense and Sense Ability too.
  14. I'm usually a lurker but since these threads are active again I had to register to join the fun and give my own unpopular opinion. I think it's the most unpopular opinion I've seen here, so try not to be too harsh! I hated Cole and the way the show changed when he came on. I didn't like Phoebe around Cole and all the lies she told to protect him. In a lot of episodes it felt like Prue, Paige and Piper's only roles were to react to whatever was going on with Phoebe and Cole. I hate him even more when he's fully human than when he's evil. For all those reasons I can't even watch most of Seasons 3 and 4 again even though those seem to be the most popular ones. Season 3 has a few episodes where Cole doesn't appear and those are my favorites. I love Season 5 but mostly after Cole is gone. I like Paige but the first two seasons of the show are still my favorite. I didn't hate Dan as much as other Charmed fans do. It's easy for me to forget he's even around. He didn't change Piper, her relationships with her sisters or the show just by being there. *coughColecough* Dan is boring but so are most of the men on this show. Prue gives me life. It seriously hurts me when people who watch the show hate her even though I try to understand why. I care about all the sisters but I never got over Prue's death. I still watch Shannen Doherty in every bad TV movie she ever makes. I edited this many times because English isn't my first language, but please forgive me if there are still some mistakes.
