  1. I don't understand how people think that article means it's rigged. It sounds like some "insider" was talking about what people on the show think will happen. Is there any point to rigging the show anyway? I mean, does it really matter who wins?
  2. Except that's not the way religious people see it. I would love to see Elizabeth Banks on the show. I've enjoyed a lot of things I've seen her in and she seems like a fun person.
  3. Apparently Sadie's uncle had a seizure earlier this week while hunting. TMZ and a few others posted the story today. He's recovering well but still in the hospital. It has to be hard for Sadie, especially since her family is so close. Edit: I just got home and was going to post an article here for reference since I can't on my mobile phone and found this article that says the seizure took place on Sunday. That could explain a lot about Sadie's state of mind on Monday, like why she seemed a bit off and maybe even the crying after her dance.
  4. I hate seeing people get hurt on this show. Usually the person who gets injured is one of my favorites, like Alfonso. I hope he recovers well, most of the other competitors bore me and he's the best part of this show. On the other hand, I hope that if the pain gets to be too much then I hope he pulls out, this show isn't worth the pain.
  5. Last night I noticed that they were putting the name of the dance on the bottom of the screen for most of the dancers which was pretty cool since I've been confused about who's dancing what on certain weeks. Have they been doing that all season and I just missed it? I'm glad they let Jonathan leave the way he did. The judges have been brutal to him so I think it's great that they gave him a dance that his partner could teach him so he could leave on a high note. I was mostly bored during the show this time, which is unusual. I almost changed the channel for Janel and Val. I like Val but I don't really care if he and Janel are lovers or not, just shut up and dance. Part of me wishes they went home so we could be spared their "romance" next week. About Sadie. I wonder if she was uncomfortable about the dance moves and asked her mom and grandmother to intervene for her. If so I wish she could have spoken up about it instead, choosing modesty can be just as empowering as choosing to show off your body and sexuality. Or I could be completely wrong, who knows? I thought she looked really uncomfortable while dancing, her face was blank for the most part except for when she'd smile where her and Mark's faces got really close together. Poor Alfonso! That must hurt so bad. I can't believe he's still moving as well as he is with a groin injury. I hope he gets a chance to recover a bit before next week, but it doesn't look like that will happen. Why were people hitting each other tonight? Carrie Ann with Alfonso was really uncomfortable to watch. Was there a point to that or did she just want people talking about how "wacky" she is today? Definitely inappropriate. Leah telling Derek he doesn't know what 5's feel like was funny, but then she started hitting him with the microphone and that got weird fast. Maybe one light tap with it but she just went on and on, Bethany looked so uncomfortable and awkward after that happened. Maybe making people feel uncomfortable was the theme for the night.
  6. I wonder if it was Sadie's choice to bring up what her grandfather had said. It almost felt to me like she was answering a question from the producers about his comments. Either way, I liked how she didn't say if she agreed or disagreed with his comments, just that she supported her family. When I was young I was always taught that right or wrong, you support your family. If you disagree with them or think they were wrong then you handle that in private, but publicly you always stand by your family. The way I see it is that no matter what she said, there would be no way that she could make everyone happy. If she said that she didn't share her grandfather's beliefs then yes, some people might start to like her but her family would be upset with her. For someone who's so close to their family that's a big deal. If she came out and said that she agreed with his statements then she'd have her family's support but, well, we all know what happened earlier. By not stating her own beliefs nothing really changed for her, she still has her family and the people who hated her earlier because of her family still do. That's really not a position anyone should be in, let alone a 17-year-old. With that said, I really like watching her dance. I had no idea who she was, I though she and her family were on a show about being duck farmers...is that even a job? She's shown herself to be a hard working person with a great personality. I haven't seen anything that comes off as bratty or standoffish or anything that's usually seen with the younger stars. She does look a bit awkward when she dances, but I can forgive that since she always makes the dance look easy and like so much fun. No matter what her family believes, I really think they did something right with raising her. I'm really excited to see what Derek does with her tonight.
  7. Thank you for your responses. I'm not American, I moved here a few years ago to continue my education so I didn't know if that was typical since there's so many different cultures here. I can understand wanting to maintain your heritage. It also makes sense that the typical family would take the time to discuss current issues that are more racially relevant to them in depth. I appreciate your well-put replies.
  8. I thought that Andre's point with the commercial was to show the way black people or people of color in general were still being mistreated and stereotyped by others in LA because that's the way he felt in the company after being promoted to the Urban Division. It was interesting to see the looks on the other executives faces after his original commercial. I have a question and I'm sorry if I offend anyone with it, I swear that's not the intent. I'm just curious to know if people actually spend a lot of time at home discussing their own race/heritage. On the show it seemed like that was the only thing Andre and his family talked about and I think it's just so we can get to know the family more, but it did make me wonder if that's common for people of any race.
  9. I used to like GIanna. I guess she got tired of not really being in the episodes and wanted to stand out more? Ganging up on Mackenzie with Abby was bad enough to make me dislike her. After the whole, "You guys aren't dancing because YOUR MOTHERS decided to tell Abby how horrible she is and since Abby is as mature as a toddler she decided to pull the dance instead of trying to have an actual discussion. Remember, Abby can't handle hearing the truth about her "methods" so we're going to pretend that it's YOUR MOTHERS fault and not Abby's. Blah blah blah YOUR MOTHERS" or whatever was said. Seriously, who spends that much time trying to make children hate their moms? I felt sick watching this whole episode. I only watched to the end because I wanted to see their group dance.
  10. That's true, but I don't think it really matters what song they dance to since the producers have just played different music in the past. I think it was this season that the girls were supposed to be dancing to Royals, but that's definitely not the song that we heard. I'm also pretty sure that Sarah was dancing to On My Own during this episode. Maybe they just keep a few spots open in case Abby decides to put a dancer in at the last moment like she did this episode. Maximum drama and all that.
  11. My mom fell asleep during the second one when we saw it in the theater. She started snoring! I loved the LOTR movies, for a while I could say most of the lines along with the actors. I was only a little obsessed. The first one was the best. Now, my possibly unpopular opinion is that I absolutely hate the Hobbit films. I was excited when it was announced that Peter Jackson was going to direct them again, but I think he did a horrible job. The movies are have so much extra crap in them with characters that either didn't exist or were dead in the books and he's given them all a backstory. Don't even get me started on Tauriel. I'm all for havin women in strong roles in films, but she didn't belong in that story and I don't like the who specialness of her somehow being the only female warrior. If we had been shown other females in the army it's wouldn't have been so bad, you know, until the love story started. I also don't like watching Tom Cruise. Whenever I see his movies it feels like watching, as I think someone said earlier, Tom Cruise playing Tom Cruise playing whatever his character is. His acting just isn't believeable to me. In my opinion Jennifer Lawrence is the same way. I just don't understand her appeal.
  12. That episode was a whole lot of wrong. After everything that's heard in the news about people using a Native American mascot and how that's offensive to the culture, Abby should have known better. I bet she was hoping that would stir up something so she could get more attention and make people start really talking about her show. As soon as she said "ethnic" I knew Nia would be the lead and that Maddie would be the true lead, Nia would only have the title. Abby is so predictable. However, Nia did really well with her part, she was fun to watch. Christi strongly reminds me of how Kelly was before she and Abby had their fight. She's just over everything and both she and Chloe look miserable all the time. I'm so happy to hear that they've left the studio. Maddie shouldn't have danced a solo. Yes, she won but now Mackenzie and the other girls have to deal with knowing that their "teacher" has absolutely no faith in them. Without Maddie, Mackenzie got second while being one of the youngest in her category. The only person who would have beaten her would have been a girl who was two years older. That's pretty impressive and should be celebrated. Now she's lost what could have been a great moment and knows that no matter what she does in dance, it won't matter as long as her sister is around. If Maddie had already been signed up for a solo that would have been different, but the way it played out was wrong. Of course, Maddie could have already had a solo entered and they pretended that she didn't because drama. I heard a while ago that some competitions will leave a few spots open at the end of the program for last minute entries, so it's possible that she really wasn't officially on the program but Abby couldn't pass an opportunity to let Maddie win. I think her entry number had an "A" at the end, does that mean anything?
  13. Since he was announced as a new pro I've been searching for videos to see how he dances. According to Youtube this is him and his partner. Forgive me, I don't know how to make the video show up here. I hope he gets featured in a few pro dances so we can see him really dance. I think he's going to be a lot of fun to watch.
  14. I found part two if anyone's interested. http://www.pipestonestar.com/Stories/Story.cfm?SID=51048
  15. Yes. I feel like it was even worse last season with people comparing Derek with Maks and trying to argue over who was better. I wish he had left with Maks, at least for a season or two. Maybe the conversation over if Derek is favored or evil or whatever won't be as bad this time, people have got to still be tired of it after last season. I looked up Keo on the Youtube. There's not a lot of videos, but I'm excited to see him on the show based on the few I've seen. He was amazing to watch. If he can teach half as well as he can dance then I think he could be the surprise of the season.
