  1. I can't believe nobody got the Mummers Parade! I mean, I'm from around Philadelphia, but still. I must be old, Adlai Stevenson was an instaget for me. As well as getting older, I must be getting smarter because I thought all the DDs were pretty easy. I have to say again how much I enjoy watching Amy play. Her breadth of knowledge really is amazing, and i love that she doesn't jump around the board looking for DDs but relies on her own talent.
  2. While I think these recent episodes have not been especially challenging in terms of difficulty (although I was surprised at the amount of TS in the 12/28/21 game, the most recent, at least here), I am enjoying them very much. Part of this is Amy - I feel like she is accumulating her large scores the way the game is designed, rather than jumping around looking for the DDs or picking the most expensive ones so the other contestants can't get them. I like her calmness and the little things, like her recognition of Julia. I had to laugh when none of these erudite people got the right answer to the "score" question, although I can see how it happened. I was surprised none of them got Babe Didriksen Zaharias or Joyce Carol Oaates. I love Ken as host - he was perfect in terms of keeping things going smoothly, encouraging the contestants when they needed it, supplying snippets of information.
  3. That sounds just like what I'm looking for! I guess I just didn't get what is so unusual about the tenikle - is it that it sticks to surfaces? Don't pretty much all of them do that? It seems like a lot of them are bendy, as well. Re; Liberate, I think the concept of developing and selling to corporations some kind of on-line mental wellness program is a good one, but I can't believe it hasn't been (or will be) offered by some of the major players, like the big health insurance companies, similar to Silver Sneakers. I just don't see this woman as having the ability to do that. That banana thing was gross, and by having banana in the title instantly limited the potential market. Now - a churro or eclair stuffing kit sounds a lot better to me, but I still wouldn't buy such a limited use item.
  4. My kid are older (like, ADULT older), but I would have gotten the mailbox if it encouraged them to write letters. In fact, maybe Santa would like daily letters, not all of them asking for gifts of course but chatting about what good girls and boys have been doing.
  5. Loved the gnome woman - she was super smart, obviously a good businessperson and the gnome thing is really more than a seasonal business. I liked her daughter, also. I'm glad they got a deal. Those kids and that family were obnoxious. They were awful in so many ways, and the product was massively overpriced. I assume they got a spot merely to provide a contrast with the next person, Tommy the Elf. Tommy - I didn't quite understand his business (as a business) or even the deal he made with Barbara, but what a warm, creative, lovely person. I hope he develops some kind of sponsorship model in which someone gives him money to cheer up cancer patients at hospitals. There's no way that mailbox will be successful other than on-line, there just is no way of looking at it and seeing what it really does. (I think Daymond called this the Hanger Factor or something similar). I also think it's pretty limited, a family may buy one and then use it for years while the kids are little. The people were certainly nice, though.
  6. I just wanted to mention how I've regained my enjoyment of Jeopardy!- and last night was a perfect example. I really like Amy, not just her knowledge but her as a contestant, and the other two people although they didn't come close to her, were still pretty interesting and knowledgeable themselves. I had no problem with FJ, surprisingly. I greatly prefer Ken as a host, and this episode showed why. He has the perfect temperament, and background to keep things moving along. I'm not at all a Mayim fan, I'm not sure if I'll watch the prof tournament (although I'd like to) although I'm sure she'll be better as a host than she was previously.
  7. I have to admit this episode really didn't do it for me, although I very much liked everything about Leonard (such as his interaction with Mrs. C and Henry) but especially Daniel in the car. I also liked Henry stepping up and defusing the situation with the bishop. I hope he sticks around; he and Will might make for some interesting times.
  8. I liked the laundry sheets so much I ordered some before the segment was even ended. Speaking of which - that must have been edited A LOT because there really was very little discussion. I also liked the paint by numbers tube. Every night I do a number of pictures on my iPad, and I wouldn't mind having an actual physical picture. They were right about the drawback with jigsaw puzzles, in that they do take up space (we don't have a dedicated puzzle table).
  9. Entombed in chocolate - what a way to go!
  10. I was really struck by the contrast between the two young men and their products, Sperfo and Buelr. The first is really old school - the most basic product (clothes), which he is marketing old school by using tons of personal time, effort and connections. The second is tech, to meet a very contemporary need. I'm not sure how much effort the Buelr guy is putting into it, it almost seemed like a hobby to him. I rellay liked his presentation, though. I hate to sound like a downer because I liked the young man and his mother, but I thought those sweatshirt were way overpriced for the way they looked, but I guess I'm not a Sean Combs Diddy fan. I wasn't as offended as some of the sharks by the meeting bot idea - I agree with the guy that it really makes sense not to waste time sitting through a purely passive class and reviewing it later. Mark was right, though, until it is monetized better the inventor should upgrade it himself. I also wonder if he didn't get a deal because he didn't finish getting his degree. The sheet thing - seems like a good idea, but what an awful name and branding. Lori really could have helped her. The remote wedding app - not a bad idea, but she should have stressed one benefit is that it would allow people who because of expense, distance or physical issue to attend weddings they wouldn't otherwise been able to. I don't know ANYONE who would rather have a virtual than in person wedding, which doesn't necessarily have to be a "big, white wedding" which I assume they meant formal.
  11. I totally agree, except I would LOVE a crime ring of saucy librarians.
  12. That was pretty bad, but not unexpected for Leonard - I really really hope they don't show him having a bad time in prison, but . . . Speaking of Leonard, I'm so glad he and Mrs. C made their peace. I understand how hard it was for her, not just the gay issue but the class one as well. Quite a contrast to Cathy, a younger, confident woman. Not quite sure about the robbery case - is the pursuit of Lily a continuing story line? Shaun Dooley is a recognizable (to me) actor, I was surprised to see in a one-off episode.
  13. I assumed it was a present for his wife - the national exposure, two bright young women to mentor. Cause the product is very limited, and it didn't seem like they had anything else in the pipeline.
  14. One of the best episodes in quite a while - no sob stories, crying, children used as props. No guest shark indulging in shameless shelf-promotion and greed. Instead, interesting products and services, a certain amount of humor and Mark's bullying getting the response it deserves. I have to think there was major editing going on. I really liked the guest shark (I am a HUGE Nextoddor user, it has made my life so much easier). And, with his wife, a twofer. I'm not their target (being an older, non dating dog person) but loved all 3 of the cat people. Smart, practical and the cats were adoptable! I'm glad they got a deal. The Soapen seemed pretty limited, unlike the custom goggles, which they stated was actually a robotics company for which I can see all kinds of applications.
  15. I just had to comment on what a lovely person Chiggs is. He was silently giving George good advice about closing the oven door, and then he was so helpful to Amanda with her disaster. And his bakes all looked good, as well. Edited to add: This is the kind of thing Mel and Sue used to do.
  16. I liked the idea of the granola butter, I eat a lot of peanut butter so it might be nice to have an alternative. For some reason, I found the woman to be especially annoying. Edible utensils - at first, I thought it was a great idea, but didn't the guy say they don't last long in hot or cold food? 20 minutes? That's not long enough for me. I don't buy in commercial quantities but maybe there is a retail demand: I always get compostable non plastics flatware for get together , like this one from Amazon: Amazon.com: 100% Compostable Forks Spoons Knives Cutlery Combo Set - 380 Large Disposable Utensils (7 in.) Eco Friendly Durable and Heat Resistant Alternative to Plastic Silverware with Convenient Tray by Ecovita
  17. I especially liked how supportive Taylor was of Cindy, they were so good for each., they were so in synch It was pretty clear that when they failed the 2nd test, they probably wouldn't win. I also think that while their fish bridge worked well and was amazing to look at, Rodolfo and Sarah's whole display was just on a higher level, with so much more detail as well as a unifying story. Overall, I really liked the show, especially the great judges, and hope their is another season.
  18. What I like about the show is that it is not TOO realistic about social conditions that existed then - that would make for some grim viewing. For example, Mr. Asper actually turned out to be decent, which I didn't at all expect, and things looks rosy for the poor young couple who already have several children. Most importantly, I want Leonard not to be harmed in any way, although given the times, things don't look good for him.
  19. I'm enjoying this very much, have watched through episode 6 (I think) , the Bake Quake. What a cliff hanger! I feel so sorry for Steve - no matter how much the show tries to hype her, Renee just isn't a very good engineer. She's lucky to have Steve as her partner, at least he knew how to construct a building because of his wedding cake expertise. There is no way they should continue. I still think the advantage given to the winning team is way too advantageous. See the obstacle so and so being able to address the traps? Having someone extra to help for 3 hours? It's a wonder the team with the advantage ever loses. Love the judges, their comments are insightful and helpful, and the host is not annoying.
  20. I just started watching and like it a lot. I liked episode #2 (robots) a little better than #1 (robots), because it seemed a bit more fun. I realize that the engineering is MUCH more important than the baking. Watching #3 (chain reactions) now. One thing I really like are the super qualified judges, especially the engineering one who explains things so clearly. It seems like a good strategy may be to make sure you win the first challenge, because the advantage the winners got was huge. I can see that just kind of snowballing, where they win the next challenge because of that, and then the one after that etc. (I don't know and certainly am not saying that is what happened). Anyway, it's a lot of fun to watch.
  21. I was very disappointed, because bread week is usually one of my favorites. First, there was way too much Noel and Matt, to the point that I just started fast forwarding past them. I don't know if they're really helpful to the contestants, but certainly they are not funny or entertaining, especially throwing dough at someone trying to concentrate on her bake. Second, there is a whole world of bread out there - why deliberately select the two most well-known ITALIAN types of bread, unless it was to showcase Giuseppe (who really deserved Star Baker) in the same episode. Speaking of types of focaccia - I was really surprised, since they all had notice of what the assignment was, that only poor Rochica attempted a design. I see beautiful flower focaccia all over., it is not all that hard to do. Maggie dodged another bullet. I like her, but I don't think her baking (especially finishing skills) are really up to the level shown by others. I hope I don't get to the point where I just FF to the finished bakes, but I'm close. That's how much I am irritated by the two "hosts."
  22. Agree they should have tougher challenges as the show progresses. I also suggest that there should be no elimination for the first week, give them a chance to settle down.
  23. As soon as I saw Rachael Stirling, I knew it had to be her simply because she is so recognizable. Speaking of which, wow, she is in everything! Or maybe it seems like that since I watch a lot of British tv. It was an ok episode, it seemed almost more designed to introduce the various core characters. Can Geordie really just preempt an investigation like that? I know his rank was higher, but what about jurisdiction? I think I didn't enjoy it as much as I thought I would because I am VERY worried about Leonard. I can only hope that Will can pull off some miracle to protect him.
  24. I don't know why they added the movable/interactive component, especially so early in the competition. It seems to me that the quality of the products really suffered as a result, none of them were really complex or refined. Much as I like Jurgen, I sure hope it is not a runaway. I know that the judging starts anew each week, but if he is the star baker every week I think that will be pretty indicative. I do think it's probably been pretty easy to decide who has to leave, although I'm glad Maggie recognizes she is at risk. I like all the contestants, but especially Lizzie. I like her hair, her accent and her sense of humor.
