  1. S9E10: I could barely sit through this. I don't know, but I have less than zero interest in these obnoxious, entitled rich people. As soon as I saw the doctor, I knew he would be holding some woman (white of course) hostage. I thought inviting Sid as a guest was ridiculous. The only thing I like - which I wouldn't have anticipated - was Insp. Mallory, who was actually funny, and honest with Sgt. Goodfellow that he didn't want to lose him.
  2. He (Insp Mallory) is so cartoonish here, it is almost surreal to see him play a decent cop (Silent Witness, DCI Banks to name a few). Obviously, a good actor, not great writing.
  3. I don't actually have too much to say, except that I am still watching and enjoying this. I especially love Astrid, what a good friend to have.
  4. The only two things I liked about this episode: (1) Alex Borstein (except when she was acting as Harry acting as her); and (2) how identifiable the kids were, Iyou could tell instantly who was Asta and Liv. Also (slightly): the scoutmaster sexism. The rest - ugh, too confusing about who knows what, way too much sex talk that wasn't funny in the least. What a waste of some good actors.
  5. Season 9, Episode 8 (Wayward Girls) This has to be my favorite episode ever. No annoying Inspector Mallory, Mrs. McCarthy or Sid. Instead, Sgt Goodfellow investigates, although (of course) it is Father Brown and Bunty who solve the case. Speaking of Bunty - she is my favorite character, she brightens up every scene and, boy, she is absolutely stunning.
  6. i continue to like this show. I certainly wish I had a friend as supportive as Astrid.
  7. I watched the first two episodes (they were available here in PA/US on Thursday Feb 3) and liked them a lot. Alan Ritchson is exactly my idea of book Reacher, big of course), quiet. I must say, violence + humor is really what I like. I also liked seeing Malcolm Goodwin again, he's always been a fave since iZombie. One thing I miss are the voice overs - in the book, Reacher is constantly figuring out angles and calculating the appropriate actions to take, as well as a lot of discussion about Army training, how it really does over almost every potential situation. I'll definitely keep watching.
  8. I loved Liv's power move with the real estate agent and sheriff, where she took on the primary role. She is my favorite character, but her repeated references to how poor she is seems unrealistic, since I assume she makes a decent salary. I'm tired of Max, and pretty much everyone else. It seems like Harry is only a minor character now.
  9. done. Also contacted them on Twitter
  10. Completely agree, the thought of eating that cake is now so gross to me. Same as when I saw that video of the germ dispersal that happens when you flush with the lid up - ugh. It took some training but no one in our family, male or female, does that now.
  11. I have to admit I liked it more than I thought I would. Terrific casting, cheesy effects.
  12. I agree. I didn't feel that he won as much as that Amy lost. The fact that she didn't even have an answer for Fj - one which I thought was so obvious as to make me doubt the show - I thought was pretty telling. I've loved watching Amy play. I'm sure Rhone is a perfectly fine person, but I really doubt I'd be excited to watch him play. Added: Amy's experience shows how extraordinary Ken's streak of 70+ games really was.
  13. I guess I've watched too much Vera because I knew instantly who would be sitting in the police car at the end. Way to go, Kenny, that cake looked good. I guess his good work and professionalism have finally overcome his early season expense fiddling.
  14. I have to say how much I admire the costuming in this show, especially the inspector's jacket with the pockets. One instantly knows not to mess with him!
  15. This is a very good point - thank you for opening my mind on this. I did get tired of some of the contestants, though.
  16. I always disliked winning streaks; I never thought they should have abolished the 5-game rule. Having the limit put the emphasis on the game, not the contestants. I guess I got tired of the people, but that's when I stopped watching. I don't know why, but I love watching Amy play. Her voice is lovely, and I am amazed at how much she knows. I like her play style, and even her stories are relatively interesting. I feel sorry for the other 2 contestants, but really, they have as much chance at winning as she does. If she is quicker on the buzzer, quicker at figuring out the question. or just more knowledgeable, that's doesn't mean they're not worthy contestants. It's not like she ha any real advantage going in as the one being challenged. I think because of his own experience, Ken is the perfect host for someone on a long winning streak like Amy's. He obviously knows what it's like, and is able to comment/joke about it. I thought tonight's game was ok, but I wouldn't have done well. I thought FJ was pretty clear, and I was surprised not everyone got it.
  17. Yes, I do recommend them, although it's been quite a while since I read them (I gave each of them 4* on Goodreads). I think the show does a great job of casting - Max and Oscar are exactly like I pictured, although I can't really remember how closely the shows follow the books.
  18. Thanks for the book listing - that made me realize I hadn't read the final book, which will be remedied very shortly.
  19. I'm surprised how poorly Amy has been doing in FJ, especially tonight which I thought she would have gotten easily, given her vast range of knowledge on all kinds of areas. I do like the fact the she bets big anyway. I don't really have a basis for saying this, but to me that shows she's not in it entirely for the money, which I also think is expressed in her style of play. She's not hunting around looking for DDs or only playing high value clues. I thought both contestants tonight, at least initially, had a shot at making it harder for her if not winning it themselves. Speaking of FJ tonight - I can't believe I didn't get it. it seems so obvious now.
  20. I totally agree that there is no way those filthy lab coats would be hanging in the hallway. I think it is clear that Mrs. Hall is more than a housekeeper or servant, more a member of the family responsible for keeping things going smoothly. Is this a realistic portrayal of how things were then? I have no idea, but I just enjoy the show.
  21. I'm glad it's back, although I don't really remember all that much of Season 1. I did remember Clara was Max's former fiancée, but not what disgrace happened to Max or why he was no longer consulting with the police. Didn't matter, I enjoyed the episode and found it pretty easy to follow. My favorite character continues to be Conleith Hill, I am waiting for some Varys spillover (Game of Throne reference)
  22. I have to admit that I am among those people that couldn't understand the point of the Cara scenes in light of the short season, since they didn't seem to have any connection with the main story and the whole Laconia business. Well, I still don't (especially since the point could have been made in less time), but I have to say that now that I am reading Leviathan Falls, I very much appreciate them. That makes me think that the show people are setting up for something further, such as a movie even if there are no more weekly episodes. I cannot express how much I loved the Drummer/Avasarala scene -each was so true to her character, and the costuming is amazing. I also loved the Drummer/Naomi scene - it really humanized Drummer, and I think the Naomi actor (sorry, cannot remember her name) was so expressive.
  23. I can't believe nobody got the Mummers Parade! I mean, I'm from around Philadelphia, but still. I must be old, Adlai Stevenson was an instaget for me. As well as getting older, I must be getting smarter because I thought all the DDs were pretty easy. I have to say again how much I enjoy watching Amy play. Her breadth of knowledge really is amazing, and i love that she doesn't jump around the board looking for DDs but relies on her own talent.
