  1. Bridget & John were speculating that in addition to the no one-touch warm up, the very cold temperature in the arena might be having an affect on the athletes. A full crowd would have warmed it up some.

Interestingly, I've been reading a book on how people misinterpret the Bible by looking at it via today's standards rather than focusing on the actual lives that people led back when the books were written.  There is a chapter where women are told to dress modestly.  But, remember, back 2000 years ago, there were no skintight clothes, every woman, even the ladies of the night, wore loose fitting robes that covered them from neck to ankles and usually with a veil, to boot.  Religious beliefs weren't a major factor, that is how they all dressed.  No reason for St. Paul to be preaching about the styles, there was only one style for everyone..

This is interesting; can I ask what book?

    "Golf."

Subtitle: "Look at my hairly manly legs.  Aren't they fabulous?  It's from years of high-level soccer.  I played soccer, you know - could've gone pro.  I was that good.  Still am, but I've chosen to pursue a life of wisdom and faith, along with with the occasional organic, grass-fed cheeseburger washed down with a hand-dipped milkshake from Pretention and Sprinkles - 'cause you gotta keep things chill, amirite?"

Pretention and Sprinkles is my new favorite faux brand name. I want it on a shirt!

Yes but I don't remember the actual Mulan Rouge version being that bad.  I couldn't enjoy the dance because I was so distracted by the song.  It sounded like this should have been used during Villains night.  There have been lots of bad singing in DWTS but not so much that I couldn't concentrate on the dancing.

The Moulin Rouge version is by Jose Feliciano and Ewan McGregor and is a weird reimagining of the original song, but it works in the context of the movie. It’s also a popular choice for skating routines. That cover last night was just distractingly horrible; I think it genuinely might be the worst thing I’ve ever heard on the show.

What the hell were Hawayak/Baker skating to in the Free Dance? You cannot convince me that is an actual arrangement of Heart of Glass; they were just playing two songs at the same time. It was so distracting I could now really pay attention to the skating.

Also, her costume looks like her partner was skating with bloody hands and smeared the blood all over her waist.

Heh. I loved it; I thought it was amazing.

Johnny Weir has a big advantage because skaters have a track record of winning the mirrorball trophy

    Evan Lysacek says hello.

I think that’s a common thought but really only Kristi, Meryl and Adam won. Evan, Charlie, Nancy and Mirai all got knocked out at various stages and Dorothy quit. (I’m not even counting Tonya.) Am I forgetting anybody?

I did think Johnny would be a bit better than he seems to be right now, it’s kind of like he’s not sure how to make his feet move gracefully on the floor or something and is too much in his head about it. I hope he gets over that.

As much as I like Duff(and dislike Buddy), I cannot help but remember the decorating show that was on last year...can't remember the name but it was set in Texas and it was a husband and wife team. She made some of the most beautiful cakes I had ever seen and her cakes were cakes!!!! They did make a tasting cake also so they had enough cake to serve. Can anyone remember the name of the show? I was truly hoping they would be back this year!

I think you’re thinking of Natalie Sideserf, who is on Duff’s team this season. Her show was Texas Cake House.

  8. I thought it was a little odd that the theme seemed to be generic amusement park with no actual references to Knott’s included at all. Duff’s bison at least had the little 100, but nothing else. I was waiting for jams & jellies, chicken dinners, miners, stagecoaches.

  9. Considering how prevalent eating disorders are in this sport having (dieting app) Noom as a prominent sponsor seems a little tone-deaf to me.
