I am glad John brought up who might benefit from voting for RFK. I don't see how he takes votes away from Harris though. Just in general, in the news, typically RFK is called an anti-vaxxer. That's mostly your extreme right crowd, no?

He also has his environmentalist cred, and I know a shocking amount of otherwise progressive people who are anti-vaxxers.

There's a Lower Decks mobile game on both Apple and Android.   Premise is a previous version of Badgey has trapped the crew in the holodeck and is running them through events in the Starfleet Archives.  (Meaning that the levels are loosely based on episodes from any/every Trek series.)

There's also a special event happening this month: a crossover with Doctor Who.  Which is also happening the Doctor Who moblie game from the same developers.

Yes, I've been playing the game for a few months now. The stories in the episodes (what they call chapters) are true to the show. The show's writing staff reviews the scrips and according to a member of the game's customer service team the show's writing team has said they are like episodes. It's an idle game and didn't have a lot of instructions of how to play off the bat but I quite enjoy it now that I've accepted that gathering resources means the chapters take a couple of days to play but it's now created it's own story within the story which doesn't contradict the show but is funny as hell.

People keep getting trapped in the holodeck and the events mean you can win cards from characters across ST. During Disco's final season you could get their characters, then I got characters from SNW and classic Trek, as well as things like games and tricorders. It's a lot of fun once you get patient.

Amanda Tapping and Teryl Rothery just wound up three days at Shore Leave in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. (Photos available upon request.) There was the inevitable discussion of a revived Stargate. Ms. Tapping said that Brad Wright has asked her to direct the pilot and play Gen. Carter, now in charge of the SGC. She also said that, if it were up to her, Dr. Janet Fraiser would return in some way, shape or form. (The two ladies then high-fived.) Obviously, this all comes with a colossal "IF" attached, but it would be nice, wouldn't it?

This sounds amazing. Too bad it got kibboshed with the change in ownership.

It's corporate media revealing itself. That's all it is. They're not even airing the show tonight? Absurd

Sounds like the team was already in Milwaukee and it just wasn't possible to get everything back and set up in time. They would have had days to do it if the plans hadn't changed.

Seth interviewed the guy from the new Twisters remake. The clip shown took place in a storm chasing vehicle with what seemed to be the radio blasting Jon Batiste’s “I Need You.”

That vehicle looks a lot like Reed Timmer's Dominator 3. I understand his portrayal was influenced by Reed.

  7. I don't see any way that the EU lets Britain come back. They had made an exception for them with keeping their currency and that was basically spit back in their face. Why on earth would they let them come back when they've shown they will leave on a populist whim? There's no benefit to the EU for that. The precedent that it would set wouldn't sit well with other member countries.

What has happened was warned before the Brexit vote, the public chose to use it as a protest vote against the Conservatives (a lot of people gave interviews stating this the next few days). There was a huge jump the next day in Google searches about what Brexit was and it came out that the pro-Brexit forces had campaigned on lies. The vote was a bare majority so with the country so divided, doing something this drastic was just folly.

To be fair, so was the vote that brought Newfoundland into Canada and the one that kept Quebec in Canada, so I don't have a leg to stand on here. And as the latter has definite parallels with Brexit, what I can tell you is the prevailing thought that I've heard if Quebec leaves:  "Good luck going on without us. We're not going to make it easy for you." Which is why the Brexit deal sucks for Britain.

Our Conservatives also use blue and the Liberal party uses red. NDP orange. Don't even know what the Bloc Quebecois colour is.

That's what they are. I don't know why anyone thought they were porn.  They were banned in Florida high schools. The Bridal Quartet and the Dream trilogy.

Those books aren't pornographic at all! WTH?

Someone on this site - I want to say it was in the NFL thread- posted a link to a statement released by the Benedictine nuns. They blasted him.

Don't mess with the nuns, especially the ones involved in education. I was taught by Loretto nuns and they had the same philosophy. Love them pointing out that he dissed them too.

  10. Saw Seth Myers do standup tonight and he does a bit about his experience of doing the show. Mocked the whole "how do you feel about it?", especially finding out a relative did a school play, and said he wasn't an interesting guest. He talked about turning the page and finding out his relative committed suicide and Dr Gates said "sorry, we'll edit that out. Turn the next page".

Was really interesting seeing his experience turned into comedy.

  11. Finally got around to watching and I had said everything John said about Uber just this afternoon!

Really glad he talked about the whole fetal personhood bullshit and the Comstock Act. I've known about this for a long time as I read Jessica Valenti's Abortion Every Day (highly recommend) but most people have no idea.

I run a Blue Jays fansite and had heard nothing about these pants. Granted, I don't read everything. Wonder why they made the switch?

The main story is horrifying. Wish I had anything more constructive to say, but nope.

ETA: Update on the pants from CNN:

In a press release, Nike said that it worked with more than 300 players to design a jersey that was more breathable, lightweight and stretchy.

Players also wore them during last season’s All-Star Game, and Nike and MLB said they were well received at the time.

“They’re designed to be performance wear as opposed to what’s been traditionally worn, so they are going to be different,” MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred said about the uniforms.

“I think after people wear them a little bit, they’re going to be really popular.”

    What happened with Apple?

Nothing official but the story is that the reason The Problem was cancelled was because Jon wanted to do stories on China and AI, Apple told him not to, and he refused. Now does his first joke make sense?
