HBO's buzzy Bright Lights documentary is being moved up to a January 7 air date after the passing of its subjects, Hollywood icons Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds.

The premium cabler had originally planned to air the documentary in March. The project, directed by Alexis Bloom and Fisher Stevens, premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in May, where Fisher promoted the title.

  2. There's plenty more than the Vanderpump Dog Foundation to snark on:

Kyle putting the kibosh on LVP's day drinking. Followed by LVP claiming to have seen “what Mr. Girardi has been munching on for the past twenty years.”

Product placement for Sheraton, QVC, Escape Room LA's The Alchemist, and Kyle's TV Land show, American Woman starring Alicia Silverstone and Mena Suvari.

LVP asking Erika and Dorit if they're good. Meaning Pantygate'll drag on at least as long as Affairgate.

PS. Realitytea is calling Dorit's husband "Peek-K": http://www.realitytea.com/2016/12/28/real-housewives-of-beverly-hills-recap-pantygate/

  3. In a 90-minute episode of My 600-Lb. Life: Transformed, Chay came out as a trans woman, and asked to be called "Lola." Her mom instead agreed to keep calling her "Tater." (I assume the childhood nickname comes from Lola's love of potatoes.)

Lola came out to her mom, her mom's girlfriend, and two female friends—all of whom supported her. Even Dr. Nowzaradan used the correct pronouns. But Lola's aunt made transphobic posts on Facebook: http://people.com/bodies/480-lb-transgender-woman-loses-the-support-of-her-family-after-coming-out/

The episode ended with Lola singing live at a drag club.

I am FB friends with Paul Mason, formerly Britain's fattest man. He lives in the States now because he couldn't get the skin surgery he needed in Britain. He recently had skin surgery for his upper body. It has not been easy for him.

It appears he's kept the weight off, but he has had recurring bouts of cellulitis (he's in the hospital for that again right now) and other issues. Last year this time he had a problem with the hospital really paying attention to his condition, but he's switched hospitals and seems to get the right treatment when he has to go in.  His spirits seem high, he has a social circle, and loves to post clips from old UK comedy shows.

Regarding Erika's stint on Y&R, did anyone watch it? I watch the show sporadically and had deleted the epi she was on (pressed the delete button at the same time as I saw her name in the blurb about the epi).  I have no idea how she did but only saw her mentioned once so assume it was a one epi deal, maybe even one scene?

In Touch has exclusively learned that one cast member of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills will be forced to come clean about her addiction issues on the newest season.

A source tells In Touch that the troubled cast member (either Eileen Davidson, 57, Erika Girardi, 45, Dorit Kemsley, 40, Kyle Richards, 47, Lisa Rinna, 53, Eden Sassoon, 43, or Lisa Vanderpump, 56) is confronted on-camera by her co-stars, who believe the reality star may be abusing Xanax.

Could this be the scene where Erika says no one knows what she goes through at night? I only hope it's not Kim (yet again).

Is Kyle planning more children? Does she know that she's not part of the ethnic group that's at risk for Jewish genetic diseases?

    From http://jscreen.org/everyone/

    Quote

Everyone is at risk for being a carrier of a genetic disease. JScreen can help. Individuals with no Jewish ancestry, or both Jewish and non-Jewish ancestry, should also be screened with JScreen's panel of over 100 diseases. The truth is, everyone is a carrier for genetic alterations regardless of their ethnic background. It is a common misconception that individuals without Jewish ancestry are not at risk to be carriers for the genetic diseases found most commonly in the Jewish population. Although occurrences are less frequent outside of the Jewish population, the diseases are found in other ethnicities as well. In addition to the Jewish genetic diseases, there are many other genetic diseases that are commonly found in the general population.

    Also, the Umanskys are Jewish.

Why didn't they film the white party?

The July 2016 white party at Pump was a PR event for the UK tabloid Daily Mail. Perhaps Bravo didn't want to give them free advertising?

Attendees were mostly US "tv personalities," including Taylor Armstrong & John Bluher, Blanca Blanco, Beth Bowen, Jonathan Cheban, Madeleine Coghlan, Jonny Drubel, Ron Fair, David Foster, Golnesa Gharachedaghi, Victoria Hervey, James Kennedy (who dj'd the party) & Raquel Leviss, Keltie Knight, Piers Morgan, Jenni Pulos, Robert Radcliffe, Pandora & Jason Sabo, Terri Seymour & Clark Gallon, Sophie Simmons, Patti Stanger, and Morgan Stewart.

When Teen Vogue has better reporting than major outlets... http://www.teenvogue.com/story/donald-trump-is-gaslighting-america

    From the link:

Trump has repeatedly attempted to undermine the press, including such well-respected publications as the New York Times. He has disseminated a wealth of unsubstantiated attacks on the media, though this baseless tweet from April pretty much sums it all up, "How bad is the New York Times—the most inaccurate coverage constantly. Always trying to belittle. Paper has lost its way!"

As a candidate, Trump's gas lighting was manipulative, as President-elect it is a deliberate attempt to destabilize journalism as a check on the power of government.

To be clear, the "us" here is everyone living under Trump. It's radical progressives, hardline Republicans, and Jill Stein's weird cousin. The President of the United States cannot be lying to the American electorate with zero accountability. The threat of deception is not a partisan issue. Trump took advantage of the things that divide this country, pitting us against one another, while lying his way to the Oval Office.

For the first time this season we got to play Spot the Differences. In Noah’s telling, he had worn his lumberjack look (open-necked plaid shirt) to Juliette’s dinner party; in hers, he sported a professorial shirt and tie. Noah had heard Juliette cite medieval courtly love as an arena in which women took charge; Juliette heard her student Audrey use it as an example of male oppression. Noah had recalled being led upstairs by Juliette; for Juliette, he was upstairs already, waiting.

The students’ certainties and self-entitlement were just as cartoonlike in Juliette’s view as they had been in Noah’s, and perhaps that’s the point—we’re seeing the young people through jaded, middle-aged eyes—but it’s not very interesting. When we did see a new facet of one of the young characters, it was (surprise!) Audrey’s admission that she’s obsessed with having sex with Noah. In this show, finding out that a woman wants to climb into bed with Noah is like finding out that a child wants ice cream three times a day.

Years ago Trader Joe's had an awesome pumpkin mousse pie/cake with a gingersnap crust (in the freezer section). It was so good. I've been trying to recreate it ever since it disappeared but with no luck.

Trader Joe's Mini Ginger Pumpkin Ice Cream Mouthfuls: http://www.whatsgoodattraderjoes.com/2014/10/trader-joes-mini-ginger-pumpkin-ice.html

    Quote

The dominant flavor for these beauteous bites is the cookie itself—soft, a little chewy, super gingery. Perhaps not as gingerish as the triple ginger snaps (the bomb) but close. For a guy who likes ginger as much as I do, they're the idea framework for a tasty little treat. The pumpkin-pie-ish ice cream (not too far off from the Pilgrim Joe variety, if I remember right) is a perfect counterbalance, offering a soft, creamy, kinda sweet kinda spiced filling, that in both texture and taste melds perfectly. For a little extra oomph, let the ice cream get just a little bit melty for a little extra soft creaminess—you won't be sorry.

Like the What's Good at Trader Joe's? blogger, I'm a "pumpkin agnostic"—except for these.

I'd love to donate money to causes I believe in, but I'm not awash in cash. I am a mad crafter and I'm swimming in beads. I would love to make jewelry, sell them and donate the proceeds to various causes like Planned Parenthood or my local food bank. Does anyone have ideas how to do this in a way that doesn't look like a scam? You can always PM me.

You could donate jewelry to charities for their fundraising auctions.

And/or volunteer to teach jewelry-making in your community. For example, our local cancer hospital has a Bracelets of Hope Monthly Beading Bee:

Kim leads the beading workshops, creating stretch bracelets in an array of colors carrying messages of hope. All bracelets made in these workshops are packaged and will be gifted to patients by members of our medical team.

I would stop wearing a safety pin because it's already been co-opted by the right wing nut jobs.

    http://www.snopes.com/2016/11/14/safety-pin-solidarity/

    Quote

A tweet by Zoé Samudzi began circulating this weekend with screenshots, one from a 4chan board, calling for white supremacists to wear safety pins as a way to trick people looking for a safe space, or as a symbol of their racist beliefs, thus confusing the safety pin’s meaning.

On Reddit, Trump supporters have started multiple threads about wearing safety pins on their “Make America Great Again” hats or on their guns.

The safety pin movement spread on social media, so there are plenty of marginalized people and allies who aren't glued to Twitter who probably don’t know what it means. And perhaps that niche is why it's so easy to co-opt.

All this confusion regarding the meaning and efficacy of the pin is another reason to take active measures to step in when you see injustices happening. That will mean more than a safety pin ever could.
