  1. Thanks GM! The shelter is already doing that... but I really am finally ready for a new dog after our Golden R******* of 15 yrs passed, right before my 15 yr old cat. I've never been petless like this, and I'm so sad about it. Idk how to explain this, but I KNOW she is my dog. I love her already, and can offer lots of time, attention, and we can give her a great forever home. I really need help figuring our how to make her not want to tear 92 lb me apart. I'm so kind to animals (esp to ones who have been through all she has), but that dog will seriously kill me. Idk why she hates me so much. I can't even sit on the ground and put a treat in front of her. So delighted others enjoyed them too. I rhink "Vacuum" was my favorite!
  2. Does anyone else here (is anyone else old enough lol) to remember the "Dear Kitten" commercials? They slayed me.
  3. Thx for the history and video! My cats have always had literary names, the last being my beloved Ray Bradbury. But he was kind of impossible to read with because as soon as I opened a book, he immediately had to sit on it. Miss him so much. Found an old Halloween pic of my heart. Last pic... for our weddimg favors, we gave out playing cards. Hubby was the king card, I was queen, and our various pets and personal moments and friends/family were the other cards.
  4. So, poor dog has losr hee lifelong best friend/owner and is in a kennel. We went to see her in the kennel and she is so sad it is heartbreaking. She has two "handlers," one (another huge guy like the owner, son of owner, and my husband), brought her out. Same thing. She was just evil and vicious with me. The handler said she has established herself as the alpha with me. Also that the more frightened I am, the more wary it makes her because ahe does not know what I will do. He told me I needed to give her a good punch in the head, or better yet hit her hard hitting up from under her jaw. Obv I can't do either of those things. Any advice? Pics are at home, then at kennel 😞 ETA: She is am aggressive, unsocialized dog and is not being abused. They said she just needs a lot of work, time and training to ever be safe to adopt out. There are people there who are educated in this, and giving of themselves to do this.
  5. I am only 3 minutes into this episode, I haven't read the thread. But so strange, I must have rewound 5 times. Did I really just see a shirtless man in black pants, with his thong panty showing from behind? That was the oddest thing...
  6. What a cutie. Your neighbor can fxck off. Here in Chicago, especially in the Oak Park area, those extra-toed cats are called Hemingway Cats. We have a lot of them here. Perhaps it is a regional thing.
  7. Thank you. I thought I was sharing a happy story when I posted this morning. Sorry to all whom are saddened too.
  8. Sad news, she would not have been a fit for us. Apparently she was never socialized, and has never been around women. She was initially, well, protective of her territory around even my husband. But she did finally settle down around him (he's a big guy). But she would have torn me apart. We spent quite some time there but she never got better with me. I could not get close enough to even give her a treat. Thw man caring for her said that even if we wanted her, he would not have let us have her, for my safety.
  9. Unrelated, I saw this cool video while researching Sherperds. It shows Halle trainf with her sogs for a movie.
  10. Thank you both for your responses. Browncoat, it is reassuring to hear of a petite woman handling two large dogs well. That gives me confidence. AgentRxs, I won't know much about the dog's training or personality until we meet her. We have an appointment at 10am today. This man purchased her from Germany for company after his wife passed away. He was basically a recluse in the house with his dog. For exercise, powder breaks, she was just let out into his fenced yard. Unfortunately, the great idea of keeping her for the weekend won't work, because the son who has her now has to fly back home on Sunday. I hope it works out, I have not been ready for a pet since my last two passed. This is exactly the kind of dog I would like to give a home to. If the owner was in his right mind, it would kill him to think of her going into a shelter.
  11. WalnutQueen gave me good advice that pets find us. We have a sad, elderly neighbor with a 5-year old German Shepherd. The gentlelman has gone into assisted living for the remainder of his life for dementia. He does not even recognize the dog, heartbreaking for her. Her life has been turned upside down. If she does not find a home by Sunday, she is going to a shelter. I feel like we could be her forever home. However I am a cat person who has only had Golden Retrievers. Any thoughts? Advice? I am a 95-lb short woman, and this dog weighs as much as me.
  12. Aaron Echart looks like a 60-year-old withered leather handbag of a hobo.
  13. Thank you! So it is an iPhone feature? I'll have to ask to use a friend's iPhone. That message could be really cute! (Although I laughed at Kelly's version too).
  14. Does anyone here know how to send the talking pig message? Or perhaps have a kid they can ask? (Serious post)
  15. I really liked Kelly's satin blouse with the sparkly cuffs as well as her skirt. The new chick's husband seems more like her gay best friend. I just can't take him seriously. If gross Steve had to be on the episode, I'm glad we didn't have to hear him speak. Vicki looks horrible, like she had a head transplant from an ogre.
  16. I got hiccups laughing at the pig thing. When I saw Gina's hair, I was thinking 90s Flokati rug. My body is pretty similar to Braunstein. Without implants. And smaller and shorter. I would live to have a steong body like Emily's. I have thought that since I saw her in a bikini on their vacation. She is an Amazon!
  17. I have never been on a yacht, but I flown private planes. I have traveld a bit and been on some cruise lines. If i want some special food thing I think may not be available I always bring it. After reading the first few posts about Queen of Versailles, I wanted to watch the documentary. I don't after hearing about the animal neglect. I did watch her on Flipping Out. What made me made a decision instantly about my view of them, was that the husband had put in fixtures that were the same one as his rentals. Poor Jeff on that episode.
  18. Thank you so much for your story and post! I hope you continue these throughout the season, as I know no sailors or chefs. I really love your thoughts on basic foods. You are the culinary Coco Chanel of "less is more." 💕 i have a lot of respect for all the knowledge you have had access to from your husband.
  19. Am only 6 min into this episode. I haven't read any comments (but can't wait to when it is over). I am quite sure the following has been said. Joao is such a DXCK! His apology/remorse that included rhe word slut was even more gross than his comment to her. Ofc no comment about the guy who was doing it right along with her. My main take awya is that I dislike Captain Sandy even more for being so enamored and simultaneoulsy bamboozled by this fool. Back to the show. Jackie was a PITA on Flipping Out, and I am dying to watch her inflict her personality disorder on the crew.
  20. Thank you for saying that, RI. Embarrassingly, too many shows I watch are Bravo reality and while I often hate-watch just because I live for the vicious comments on the forums, this show is not one of them. I actually love so many comments here, and they also give me explanations and insight on the characters and story that I would never glean on my own. But this show is so dear to my heart, I can't bear all the negative posts this season. I don't care if they are true, this is one of the few shows left on air that delight me. I had no idea about negative Ree posts. She seems like such a nice Southern lady. I really hate so much of the Internet sometimes. People feel free to be such jerks (not referring to the Killing Eve forum at all, not even a little).
  21. Thank you, Diane! This answer does not seem to exist in baking books or on the Internet. Does your husband happen to know the amount? Do I replace some of the feed flour with it, or use it in addition to it? The diastalic malt powder I have is based with rye flour, from King Arthur. Does it change the amount of water needed?
  22. I savor and relish this program. Every fxckxng second of it. I had more self-discipline than I ever had in my life and saved S2 to binge-watch over the 4th of July holiday. I am kind of done with this forum. Too many negative, crtical posts. I am not commenting if they are warranted or not. Everyone is free to state their opinion. But the sheer amount of negative posts bring me down from my delightful Killing Eve high. Gawd, how do I survive until the next season????!!??
  23. As we have some chefs and strong home cooks here, is anybody able to help with a question I can't find the answer to online? What effect does adding diastalic malt powder to a soursough starter have? Will it make a more sour, "tangier" sourdough bread?
  24. I always enjoy this forum because I learn about boating. It seems we are lucky to have some chefs here to enlighten us as well!
