Very simply, the show should have remained focused on the partnership between Ichabod and Abbie.
The worst part (okay, it's not the worst, the DEATH was the worst), but that on any rewatch, the whole interactions between Abbie and Crane seem hollow now. I know I wanted my ship to sail, but all of those lovely, quiet bonding scenes together, or the intense ones of either losing it to save the other, are completely meaningless now. I deleted all of the episodes I had saved from my DVR (except Ragnarok), simply because I just can't rewatch it now.

This all breaks my heart - to the point that I am tearing up now reading this. How can a show make one so easily upset and break one's heart so easily. What a waste of a power acting duo with off the charts chemistry and charisma and what a waste of a show...

Since it seems they wanted to kill Abbie at the mid season break, he may have known last summer she wanted out/they were pushing her out. I think he realized things would break bad. Folks are now calling back to his different con appearances that he seemed very reserved compared to how he's been in the past. I'm sure Orlando knew too, he just couldn't say anything. That may also be part of the reason he pretty much quit tweeting about the show altogether.
This makes total sense. They all knew. The lack of interviews, promos, comic con appearances, even their lack of enthusiasm, etc all make so much more sense now.
I really wonder how tone-deaf FOX is, if they decided to wait to see the degree of fallout after the finale, to see whether to renew or not? I have a feeling they severly underestimated how much of a backlash there truly would be.
I don't know how Monique Jones managed to put together such a thoughtful and thorough analysis in such little time; I'm still struggling to form complete sentences.This is a fabulous read. She has always been very insightful. I remember reading her very in-depth analysis of the show season 1.

One of the weirdest things about all of this is finding out that I know people who have either worked with Nicole Beharie or worked on the Sleepy Hollow set. Most of them have great things to say about her. Some of my friends were supposed to go visit the set this fall. I'll have to dig around and see if anyone has some dirt on what went down.
And make sure you post it here ASAP. Right now, it's all spin. But like with Orlando, we'll start finding out the real truth in a few months - I hope.

I hope the only reason TM wants to come back is because he doesn't have anything lined up and wants a little time to get it together.
I'm assuming with the new family, he just wants to bank some cash before the show goes under. They said they are negotiating with him now, so he's obviously game and hopefully pushing for more money. Surprises me though, because he very well knows the show was the chemistry between him and NB.
I am going to be very curious to see - if there is a season 4 - which writers stay and which ones leave. It will be very telling...

The show hemorrhages about 50% viewers between seasons. The show - if it comes back - won't make it. I won't wish that it fails, but clearly it won't be SH if it comes back. Poor Tom Mison, but I'm not going to watch a S4.
The Hollywood Reporter is saying today that the show is likely to be renewed. I just don't see how? Unless they cast another actress as Abbie!Reincarnated that everyone really really likes and maybe get some newer viewers, but otherwise, who will watch? It's just so strange that they think there is a chance...

He was probably pre-emptively avoiding the shitstorm he knew would be coming. Poor Tom. I seriously do not believe any of this was in any way his fault. He just has to do his job, to the best of his ability.
Then he knew the shitstorm would happen way way in advance - he deleted his twitter last summer, before season 3 kicked off. Smart man.

Some epically shady stuff went down, no question. I expect in a few months, we'll get a better sense of what happened. So depressed right now..

I gonna be in the deep deep minority.
Knowing that Beharie wanted out, makes thing clearer (and in some cases muddier because why) in terms of things that went on this year.
I can't blame the writers for lack of Ichabbie scenes, or limited NB on screen, or writing her off, simply because this was Beharie's choice. It makes sense. The lack of presence or cancelled Comic cons. No interviews promos with her. No Ichabbie interest from her side at all - she still played it that she really liked Danny, lack of screen time, etc etc.
I can't blame the writers if they had to work around Beharie. And multiple reports have stated over and over again that Mison is a total gentleman, and always tried to protect Beharie whenever he could - that fact that he wants to come back? Yes, I get money, but I seriously side-eye this...there is something shady going on, I just wish I knew what it was.
I really don't think it's the whole "sidelining" of Abbie. This season can't be used, simply because her lack of screen time was due to accommdating NB's request. Last season she had lots of screen time (just crappy writing).
So why did she NOT give season 3 a chance?
The unpopular opinion shall be - don't blame the writers this season for what the actor wanted. They had to work around that request/reality.

The official show Twitter wasn't even following Nicole until a few weeks ago when she called them out on it.
Because of a software upgrade that caused multiple people to "automatically" drop followers randonly. It's a big pile of BS....

I highly doubt the diva blind item is about NB. Black women don't get to be "difficult" onset.

A while back, Michael Ausiello posted a now rather infamous "blind item" about a main actress on a current show that was being a total diva and making life miserable for her co-workers (and, no, he ruled out CBS so he wasn't talking about Juliana Marguiles there).
And this is the thing - was it her? Because if it was Beharie, then my sympathy goes south. Sorry, but diva behaviour I have no tolerance for.

Interesting - the mid-season finale was supposed to be her actual "exit".

I don't even know what to say. It was a good episode. It was. Objectively.
Closure and all of that. Threads cleaned up. But knowing at the last 15 minutes that yup, show's over. Well, broke my heart.
It was fun, SH. Threads all nicely wrapped up. Crane continues on (though I totally expected HIM to die), Jenny goes on, yadda, yadda.
I think the worst was KNOWING it was the end at the 35 minute mark. That little bit of hope, then nope....
God, I will miss Tom Mison to death. Seriously. I know no one cares about him, but I do. I'll miss that brillant chameleon. Best wished to Tom Mison, Nicole Beharie, Lyndie Greenwood, Zack Appelman, Shannon Sossaman, Peter Mensah et all. You all were awesome and engaging characters. Hope to see you soon.

Well, I'm getting myself a nice Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand and settling in after 10:00pm. The champagne will be bought when/if this show gets renewed.

There needs to be a two hour E! True Hollywood Story on this show.
I've never seen so much BTS drama revolve around a TV show that's only be on for a couple years. Never seen anything like this before (and probably never will again).
