I don't know why anyone thinks that pic means something. While it wasn't obvious at the time, it's now quite clear that it was an old pic. He's posted a bunch of other, more current, pics recently that show him still having the longer hair and fuller beard.

I'm not sure why you think she could've possibly pulled off "Since I Don't Have You," and not "Hopelessly Devoted To You." The former is a much harder song to sing than the latter.
