  1. Not just a media narrative. I work in the legal field and have worked for both the equivalent of my county's District Attorney's office and legal aid and I have seen first-hand that the system works against black offenders--particularly black men. Edited for topic: The scene at Kim's party made me cringe but I thought it was well done. We all expected Jimmy to do something to screw up, but I didn't realize how much he resented Kim's decision 'til that point.
  2. Huell is black. Sadly, I don't think it's unrealistic. And that is the part that will work for Kim, who is uncomfortable operating in a moral gray area and needs to find a way to get Huell off through legitimate means. Campaigning against the DA's office for excessive sentencing due to racial bias accomplishes that. If she causes them major problems, they likely will stand down. That said, is Huell an angel? Hell, no. Has he done things to warrant legit jail time? Probably (or at least we know he will). But Kim will work with what she has and that's is the fact that the white pickpockets served no time for more violent offenses. I agree that associating with Huell will cause an issue for Jimmy. We know Jimmy gets the license back at some point (and it may even be this one), but Kim is not going to keep ignoring Jimmy's complicity forever. She is getting increasingly frustrated and disillusioned.
  3. I assumed she was thinking picket signs and plans to suggest the DA's office is racially biased. Based on the scenes from the upcoming episodes, it looks like she raises a ruckus.
  4. The man who showed up at the end was Michael, Vivien and Tate's (now adult) son, the Antichrist. Billie Dean Howard said in Murder House the Antichrist would herald the end times. Hence, AHS Apocalypse. @Daltrey--they were both credits-only this episode but they are confirmed cast members this season.
  5. So do you think Dennis killed his ND family or nah? I fully expect him to be evasive and vague about the reason(s) he left regardless.
  6. I think Kim's public defender storyline accomplishes two things: (1) It contrasts how she handles ennui versus how Jimmy handles ennui--Kim is unfulfilled with her high-paying position as a corporate attorney so she seeks out people she believes genuinely need her help, legally, to turn their lives around. Jimmy, OTOH, is unfulfilled with his low-paying, temporary position at the cell phone store so he targets people he assumes are involved in some type of criminal enterprise who can fund his illegal side-hustle; and (2) it shows us that Kim is both drawn to those she believes she can save and is morally flexible in her quest to do so (she threatened that prosecutor without really threatening him, per se, like a champ). Both Kim and Jimmy are incredibly self-destructive in their own ways, although neither fully realizes it yet. I suspect when Kim leaves it might not be because Jimmy does something that causes her to walk away. I could be completely wrong, of course, but it makes me a little afraid for Kim. On the flip side, it also makes me wonder if Kim is the attorney Jimmy tells Francesca to call at the beginning of the episode.
  7. The way Jimmy read the note lends credence to that idea. His tone was a little off/odd, and it seemed like he was glossing over parts. I thought at the time he just didn't want to read it, but he could very well have been editing it for Kim's benefit. I love that this show is so well written and acted there are multiple ways to interpret scenes, which means we as fans can dissect them and obsess about details until we get the inevitable payoffs.
  8. Billions is on Showtime, which I think is owned by CBS and not AMC, right? Regardless, I love David Costabile as Wags. He'll always be Gale first and foremost for me, though. So do you think he's the Breaking Bad cameo that was teased, or do you think it's someone from the main cast (apart from Bob Odenkirk, Jonathan Banks, Giancarlo Esposito, Mark Margolis and Laura Fraser)? I'm just wondering since we've seen the cousins this season, too. ETA: I didn't even think of the possibility Kim forged that letter while I was watching (duh, me) but I don't think it's farfetched at all, especially considering Kim's reaction. I thought she was just really affected by the letter considering how Chuck's and Jimmy's relationship ended, but maybe she was crying because she knows what the actual letter says and it's awful. I think it could go either way and I can't wait to see which way Gilligan and crew take it.
  9. I feel like once you hit about 30-35, everyone's the same age. Although apparently Camille does not share my feelings.
  10. Right? Poor Gale was so enthusiastic about his ability to do a much purer cook. Speaking of which, poor Nacho. I hope that sketchy-ass vet at least gave him some beef-flavored ibuprofen with his broad-spectrum antibiotics.
  11. Yeah, I think they may be in summer school, and Ashley was wearing her cheer uniform mainly to put the moves on John but probably also a few times because she'd had practice or a scrimmage or maybe pictures for the football programs. (We used to wear our uniforms in the summer for those reasons--attempted various sexytimes notwithstanding--but then again I'm old AF and I'm sure things have changed since I was in HS in the late '90s.)
  12. YES. My mother has just now gotten over the fact I got married. At 36. She didn't even want to look at dresses with me and I didn't know why until she confessed she was disinterested because she wasn't going to be the center of attention and also because it made her look old. I was like, uhh, I hate to tell you but we're both old, lady, and if you want to be the center of attention you can always renew your vows. She never tried to poison me, though, thank god. On-topic: My husband thinks the murderer is Alan. I'm sticking with my original theory, however.
  13. Spoilering this because it's pure speculation on my part regarding the killer. If I don't need to, I apologize and can unspoiler: If any of that is the case, IDK how they'll wrap it all up in one final ep. I've really enjoyed this show and will miss it.
  14. Yep, me too. He didn't look happy about it at first when he was at the door with the gun, but once he saw she'd escaped he was pissed and ordered that she not make it out of the city.
