I think the problem with Jason is that he is older than the others, and has had more life experience. So he sees the actions of the others as childish - which it often is. He works well and is always seen working or helping the interior, so i think Bravo are struggling to find little things to make him look bad. Storm is a bad Bosun. He knows the task, but isn't a people person. He just can't manage people and has admitted that. It also doesn't help that the deck crew is a tight clique and they don't want another in their team - so anyone regardless of who they are would struggle to fit in to that. I find it annoying when they bring back deck crew from previous seasons, with the exception of those in charge. It does tend to make things borings, and this season is one of the most boring Below Deck seasons i have ever seen !

I think Jason being seen to be lazy is just editing. Most of the time he is not seen at all and when he is not the focus of attention - he is always working. He was also seen to be cleaning the deck after Mzi did it poorly. He does also get the work done that he is asked. The stains on the chrome he was supposed to polish - that Storm made a fuss about - happened after he had cleaned them as the camera showed the boat in motion with waves splashing that area, after it sowed Jason polishing the same area. I also think a lot of the issues with Jason are due to him being older and more mature than the more childish crew members, and with Storm not really being a people person. He is not a good Bosun and is not ready for management because he can't delegate. It is also hard for Jason because the other three deck crew are such a tight knit group. He gets along fine with the interior. There was also the bit where Courtney went to Storm and complained that Jason ignored her. That is not what was shown. She told him that Mzi had already washed down the deck he was working on and he replied saying that it was dirty and had needed to be done. So i have no idea what she was complaining about there ! Maybe she doesn't like him because she doesn't get the attention she does from him, that she does the other two? As for the Interior - i feel sorry for Natalia. Se should be Chief Stew. She would be much better at it that Natasha - but because Kyle and Natasha ae so close (because Kyle is just a suck up), they are going to gang up on her now.

Dave is as much the victim as Natasha - if not more so. She played him. She started getting bored with her ex - so cheated on her ex with Dave. She then led Dave on and used him to satisfy her own emotional needs. Then she starts playing with his emotions when she got bored of him. If she didn't want a relationship with him - she should have just said straight up - it is over. Dave is an emotionally fragile person and the sort of guy that cares too much and falls hard - and men like him are often the ones that end up suicidal because they are victims of women that play them. Natasha also has issues. The previews show her running back to her ex and telling him she is sorry for cheating on him etc. She can't handle being alone and has to have someone to be her emotional crutch. Women like that often end up in bad or abusive relationships because they are scared to leave and be independent. Those two personalities - Dave's and Natasha's - are just a very toxic combination !! I have no doubt that is why the producers included them on the show - and is is very unfair to the two of them ! They need to put as much distance from each other as possible. As for the new bosun situation - i am glad Malia is not coming back ! And look forward to seeing Storm step up. The way she was involving Kyle reminds me very much of how Narcissist's behave ! They spin a yarn to get a bunch of people to become their besties and turn them against anyone that wrongs them.

I quite like Stingray. He fits in with the misfits that were joining Cobra Kai when Johnny was setting it up. He is just a grown version of the kids. A loner looking to fit in. It took me a minute to realize that he was actually there as i thought he was maybe Myagi's ghost a first since Danial was talking to Miyagi's grave ! That was a really well choreographed fight ! I like how the show didn't take he easy route and go for a predictable ending - ie. Myagi Do winning and beating Cobra Kai,etc. It threw it a few nice surprises which set it up well for Season 5. I also like how each generation of kids have a Johnny / Daniel character and how these characters tend to switch roles throughout the show.

Am i the only one that just can't stop staring at Heather's lips !! She has used way too much filler and looks like a fish all the time and as such, every time she is on camera, it is all you notice ! Jake is just a man whore !

The story is loosely based on a real event - the sinking of the fishing vessel Antares by HMS Trenchant. It snared the nets of the trawler and dragged it down. All 4 crew members died. However the accident meant that submarines now operating around UK waters have to remain visible in areas with a lot of fishing traffic. The family members of the Antares crew are not happy with the series as it hits too close to home and reminds them of the issues they had with getting the Navy to admit responsibility. Also many submariners are critical of the show due to its lack of realism in just about every aspect of life on a submarine - in particular is the huge size of the set used and how the crew backtalk to their superiors, the racial profile of the crew etc. However if you suspend reality and watch it for what it is - it is actually a reasonably decent detective series. Although i wish every detective of TV wouldn't have a tragic / troubled past and / or a drinking problem etc.

I really don't see the big issue with switching cabins. Considering it is often done before on previous seasons and they are tiny cabins, and therefore they only have a bit of luggage to move - it really isn't the big issue it is being made out to be ! As for Matt - his only concern is his cabin ! Geez shut up already and stop whining !! WARNING POSSIBLE SPOILER BELOW - ONLY READ ON IF YOU ARE NOT TOO CONCERNED. They actually gave away the decision on the sneak previews for the next episode. Normally they are very careful - however if you were quick, you would notice that there was a red head sitting at the meal table with the crew, on the crew night out !

Lexi should have been sent packing. She is one of those people that will bring down the whole team with her actions - and they will only get worse not better. Her dad dying is not an excuse for being a spoilt entitled brat.

I have a sneaky suspicion that they are gearing up for Malia's ex to come back as the chef to create some drama. They seemed to focus on her relationship status with him in the earlier episodes. Also Lexi ......... woah ! If she is as well off as she states - why is she working on a boat ? She is just an arrogant brat. She thinks she is better than everyone else !

Captain Sandy is back with a new boat - the Lady Michelle - and an almost new crew. The crew are as follows: Sandy Yawn — Captain Mathew Shea — Chef Katie Flood — Chief Stewardess Lexi Wilson — Stewardess Courtney Veale — Stewardess Malia White — Bosun David Pascoe — Deckhand Lloyd Spencer — Deckhand Mzi "Zee" Dempers — Deckhand The crew feature some experienced and some not so experienced crew members. The first charter of the season gets off to a shaky start as an injury sees the crew having to cope without a chef for the first dinner.

Barrie and his family are constantly selling their stories to the media. They love the attention - so it is no surprise to see them on Below Deck. He also cheated on his husband when his husband was battling cancer, so it is well known that he isn't a nice person ! He is now expecting more children with his new partner through a surrogate (the daughters ex.). As for the crew - they all act like they are on Love Island when they have time off ! If i wanted to watch such antics - i would just watch one of those shows instead !

I am surprised no-one has mentioned Rachel's stint on America's Top Model ! I wonder how many other reality shows she has been o? Also rule number 1 when working in food or food service is that if you have any sickness or diarrhoea - you do not set foot in the establishment until a few days after your symptoms have cleared up ! It is a strict health breach if you do - so to see her still cooking with such a diagnosis is very wrong !

What I don't understand is why are the crew allowed to keep serving obviously drunk guests alcohol ? In most bars, the severs have to refuse guests if they get too drunk because they are legally responsible for those guests. I would have thought, that considering you can't take drugs on a boat, and with all the safety rules, that similar restrictions would apply ! Even then it is just common sense to cut guests off when they have had too much - just from a health and safety point of view ! We see it time and time again on Below Deck !

Chef Tom aka Tom Checketts - used to be the head chef on the Super Yaught Aquijo. But i suspect there was more than one chef on board since it takes 12 passengers and 17 crew. There is very little about him online, other than what you get with the show !

Exactly ! And Kiko was booted off for one bad meal ! Well Chef Tom has just equalled that - so why isn't he being booted off !!

That is what i thought. You only have the paperwork when you need to pick up the medication at the pharmacy ! If you have enough with you, you don't need the paperwork ! If he were so worried about the cake being warm - he could have just done a warm chocolate fudge cake ! He is one of these chef's that is used to having an army of under-chef's to boss about while he cooks the odd dish or does the plating ! He is struggling to go it alone !

I find it funny that Capt. Sandy doesn't allow drugs on board, yet allows the crew and guests to get blind drunk - so much so that they are often working hung over !!

I have only heard the terms sunny side up and over easy in the US. In the UK a fried egg is a fried egg and you just describe how you want it if you don't want a runny yolk. That is probably why you don't hear it in Oz either. I agree. I think a lot of what you see with Lana is just because she is Italian and they are very straight talkers who don't take any stick. Hannah's problem is that she is not very accepting of anyone who isn't a native English speaker and on a boat with an international crew, you have to have a lot of acceptance for behavior that is caused by cultural differences ! Even amongst English speakers she is not very flexible toward people that have a different attitude than her !

In the UK we call that Egg and Soldiers !!

I think Pete uses the tern sweetie in a generic way. A lot of guys in the UK will call women Love or all guys, Lad etc. Duck is another common regional one as is Babe. It doesn't really mean anything derogatory, it is just one of those things you say. It is probably just an English thing which is why Hannah also does it a lot ! The meeting at the end between Malia, Sandy and the deck crew was the worst way to handle Malia's grievance ! It just showed her up as a weak woman who needs to run to her boss to sort out problems. Instead she should have just laid down the law with the lads - they would have respected her far more for it ! She may have the deck skills - but she is vastly lacking in managerial experience and skills !!

I think that it is unfair the June is the one to go. Anastasia was the one to mess up the cooking, not June. Anastasia was the one who said she could do the job, not June. Anastasia was the reason a new crew member had to be brought in - not June. June hasn't done anything wrong, Anastasia has, therefore she should be the one to go. She created the mess in the first place ! As for the smoking pan, she was keeping an eye on it, she wasn't ignoring it. And as for the rest of the stuff, she is just a little slow, but i think most of that is the editing for the show, she hasn't done anything really wrong at all !

Anastasia is not a chef - she is just a cook. She doesn't cook anything special or fancy, she just presents basic food well. So far she has done, gnocci, risotto, burgers, steak and mash, cauliflower soup and a cake most people can make easily. Hardly fine dining and i think most people could cook those things at home to such a standard ! She also needs help in the galley and is very arrogant about her skills. She was not responsible for 50% of that tip ! Then next week we saw a clip where she doesn't know how to make mint jelly ! I am not sure if she even knew what it was. As was mentioned on a previous season, a yacht chef needs to be good at everything and needs to be able to cook on the fly. She seems to rely too much on recipes (you often see her consulting her phone) or her mum !

And she is entitled to do so. Just as many would bow down before the Saudi Princes or the leaders of Al Qaeda. That is her right and she shouldn't face anger or discrimination for that - because then that makes you equally bigoted. For them to act like children around her rather than engage is conversation is wrong. I disagree with what Mila said, but i believe she had a right to say it. People are entitled to their opinions and beliefs and they are not always going to align with yours. If everyone had the same opinions or thoughts, the world would be a boring place and every conversation or discussion would be very dull ! She didn't incite hatred or promote violence or anything like that - she just said she didn't like the gay lifestyle. A lot of people don't - especially those with strict religious beliefs. There are many that hate Islam or Christianity and disagree with the beliefs of those that practice it. It doesn't however mean that they hate Christians or Muslims or don't like the individual people themselves. When you work in a multi-cultural setting, you have to be tolerant of many opinions, beliefs, lifestyles etc. When you start reacting to opposing opinions with hatred, anger etc - you are walking a path towards fascism and a closed society. When you don't allow opinions or beliefs to be expressed, you create extremism, division and hate. It is much better to openly discuss such things and openly argue for or against them in a calm manner using facts rather than feelings ! Just look at the political climate today to see an example of this. You can see the hatred between the right and left and the violence between both just because one side doesn't agree with the other !

It just seemed too contrived to be genuine. Why now and why just Uganda ? Especially since there was no concern shown when they visited Armenia, Georgia, Indonesia (none of which are very tolerant of homosexuality) in season 28 or the UAE this season and in 28 (where unlike Uganda they impose the death penalty for homosexuality ). Uganda found the bill proposing the death penalty un-constitutional and therefore did not pass it into law and are actually working towards being more accepting unlike the UAE and other arab countries. What i meant by politics is that it seemed more like the shows producers had an anti-ugandan agenda that they were trying to promote which is bad for the Amazing Race since they need to be open and accepting of all the countries they visit and their respective cultures. This is the only episode that has been so judgemental towards a country they have visited. It seemed completely out of nature for the show. More so since they decided to visit a mosque in what is predominantly a Christian country ?
