  1. My comment was: Jamaica is the middle-aged woman's "mail order husband" favorite. That means exactly what it says, nothing more. There is no mention of Melanie, but whatever.
  2. Reading some more comments, I wonder if she spent $30K on 6 trips because she was giving him money. That's what a desperate sugar daddy would do. As for him sending 90% of his money back home, I think he said in the final episode interviews that he was joking about that, but I wonder. As far as Melanie being 33, I didn't say SHE is middle-aged. Re-read my comment.
  3. Several weeks ago I posted that I didn't think Melanie could keep her "trophy husband" for very long and I wrote that I thought Devar might have other motives for being with her. But when I saw him get choked up reading his marriage vows he won me over. I think he's sincere. The relationship still might not last, but I think he loves her right now. As for spending $30,000 on travel, she is being very careless if she spends that on 6 trips to Jamaica and has very little money left over. She could do 6 trips for $10K if she's careful. And why does she need 6 trips? Is she afraid he'll be cheating on her? The money issues are where I think they will have problems. I think Devar and Hunter can get along well, but the money issues are going to be tough. And I don't buy her claim that she didn't go to Jamaica looking for a husband. Jamaica is the middle-aged woman's "mail order husband" favorite. Finally, she looked pretty good on the Tell All episode. She looked a little chunky at the wedding, but maybe she dropped a few pounds. I still wouldn't want her with a tattoo, but she cleaned up well.
  4. Maybe this has been covered, I haven't read the whole thread. What cracked me up most about the last episode what when the host said that Nikki was 19 and Mark corrected her "She's 20 now." as if that makes it much less creepy. "Oh, now you're 59 and she's 20. 58/19 was gross, but 59/20 is completely normal." I hope she gets her green card in a couple of years and then finds a handsome young man who wants to have children with her. That's exactly what Mark deserves.
  5. I believe you're overthinking this. As an older man who has married a much younger, cute woman I can assure you that for me (and most men) the motive is not what other people think about us. The motive is that cute young women get us very excited sexually. If this was some bizarro world where marrying an old fat woman made other people think that I am a total stud I would still prefer the cute young thin woman because I'm doing it for myself. At this point in my life what other people think about me as a babe magnet is irrelevant to me. I just want the babe.
  6. The affidavit of support, with which I am too familiar having signed 3 of them, basically says the sponsor (Mark) has to support the immigrant (Nikki) to at least 125% of the poverty level until they have 5 years of Social Security credits, or citizenship. That would lead a reasonabl3 person to believe that if they are able the immigrant must at least try to earn a living and if they can't get to 125% of the poverty level (around $12,000 per year now for one person) you must make up the difference. A good 19 year old stripper can make much more than that in Maryland. However, some divorce lawyers try to use the affidavit of support to set an alimony level, which is about all I've hear being done with it. Fortunately it never came up in my visa wife divorces which also produced no children. As for the case of Mark and Nikki, that may have been real, but it was basically a poker game. Mark may not know it, but he was bluffing and she held the winning hand - but she folded. It would cost him a tremendous amount of time, money, and lonely nights to send her back, and make no mistake about it, for a guy like Mark or myself she is very HOT! She should have at least negotiated a better deal, but she doesn't have the mental skills. She could have easily said "I want you to put in that I get $5,000 if we divorce, or $1,000 a month for a year." or something like that. She could have gotten a deal that protected her a little and he could still protect most of his assets and get to continue sleeping with his hot little trophy wife. He didn't go to all the trouble of going to the other side of the world and filing a K1 visa and waiting 6 months or more to throw it all away and start over for a few thousand dollars. He is desperate, just like she is.
  7. I am The King Of The K1 Visa. I have applied for 3 K1 Visas (1999, 2002, 2009). I did all three by myself without an attorney. All 3 were approved. I married all 3 women (not at the same time). I am still with the third one. When I filed for the 3rd K1 Visa I had to request a waiver of that limit. I explained my situation in writing. I submitted the waiver request with the other forms and they approved the visa. When I arrived in Miami immigration with my fiance the agents interviewed us separately and they accused her of paying me to bring her to the US. When they asked me I laughed and said "I wish she had money to pay me. I've lost over $30,000 by living with her for 6 months in Colombia." The crusty old agent said "This is your last time." and I shook my head and agreed. I will never do another K1 visa because it's too much risk and cost. If I were single again I would just retire to Latin America now at my age and be a sugar daddy to some desperate woman.
  8. She's not fat, and I see some photos of her in Jamaica in a bikini where she looks like she's in shape. But on the show a year later she looks like she's "out of shape". I think he could be attracted to her. I also think he could do a lot better here because he's in very good shape and he's 5 years younger. Some girls are going to flirt with him. After the honeymoon is over I say he's going to wander. I may be wrong. She was his ticket out of Jamaica. It's not going to help that her bank account is low. With the talk about Melanie not having money for a big wedding I would tell her to do what I did. I paid a city judge $200 to marry my 90-day fiance and me in this gazebo on a Sunday. Now it's our gazebo (figuratively). After that take the family to Chili's like we did. Their mango tilapia is out of this world.
  9. I made a comment in an earlier thread that Melanie and Danielle from Series 2 (BIG Danielle) would have trouble keeping their trophy husbands in part because they don't have the bank accounts for it. Someone replied that Melanie was in better financial shape and I let it go. Apparently she's not in much better shape, and Danielle was in bad shape in every way. If you want a trophy wife/husband you can't do it on a shoestring unless you're very attractive which Melanie is not. Melanie's not bad, but if I were single I would have no interest in dating her and I'm 20+ years older. Partly it's her tattoo, but even without that she's also out-of-shape. Alongside pool boy she looks very out of shape. But actually I like Devar, I just think his motives are different than Melanie's. At some point he's going to want the hot young American woman that he can attract here and poor Melanie won't have much cash to keep him interested.
  10. I've done the 90 Day Fiance visa myself, but I haven't been on the show. My experience is relevant to Mark because at 53 (6 years ago) I also didn't want more children. I was communicating with a number of women online including one who was 20 and very attractive and had no children. Finally I decided to meet my wife instead who was 29 (or her birth certificate said 33) and already had one child. I think most of these women lie about their age. I told her I probably didn't want more children and I believed she was OK with that since she already had a 10 year old son. I didn't meet the 20 year old because I did the math that Mark wants to ignore. It's not fair or reasonable to ask and expect that a 19 or 20 year old with no children will not want to have them later and here in the US she can eventually get those children even if it means finding another man. Mark has only himself to blame for ignoring that reality if she later leaves him for another man. So even though the 20 year old begged and seemed genuinely disappointed, I never met her which is what Mark should've done, but he was "thinking with the wrong head". Nikki is cute, but so are a lot of women in their 30s and 40s and even some in their 50s (look up Maribel Guardia). If you don't want more children that's the smart play.
  11. Luciano, I gave my reason. I draw that conclusion because why would he say "Stay in the US where you're misearable" instead of "Come back here so we can have fun together"? If you don't agree, OK. I've been around enough young women in a desperate country (Colombia) to know that it doesn't take much for them to learn that they can get money for being "nice". I think a lot of people here are thinking with a naive USA mindset. That's just the reality of the third world, and Prague is still third world.
  12. I think her "friend" back in Prague is really her pimp, and I think his goal is for her to get her residency in the US, dump the chump, and then bring him to the US to live with her. Sorry if that sounds harsh, and I may be wrong, but I may also be right. Otherwise I think he'd say "Yes, bring your wild tattooed self back to Prague and let's party."
  13. Kangatush You raise a valid point, but I think many people, both men and women, use metaphors like that when talking about other human beings and they know that they are not objects. It's just a figure of speech. I just did a search on Google for "damaged goods" and I swear to god this is the very first listing that came up: dam·aged goods noun a person regarded as inadequate or impaired in some way.
  14. You are correct, in one respect - Mohamad showed no affection for Danielle; Devar does show affection for Melanie. And the other poster is probably right that Melanie is better off than Danielle financially, but Danielle was practically losing her home. My opinion: Devar won't mess up what he has until he has a better deal lined up. And in the US he can get a better deal, if by better you mean younger and hotter. My wife might be able to get a better deal, too, but the problem for a woman is you never really know a man until you live with him. My wife knows that I won't treat her bad (and I have money) and she's a bit of a "fraidy cat" so she doesn't want to take a chance of ending up in a nightmare with someone new. And if she does decide to take that chance I'm at the point I can retire to Colombia. I'm good with that. Un clavo saca otro clavo. I'm also fluent in Spanish.
  15. Nutella I can get women locally, but I went to Colombia for the same reason that Melanie went to Jamaica: I'm past my prime and I can get someone younger and more attractive than I could get here. The difference is I've got enough financial resources to keep mine, but women like Melanie and fat Danielle from season 2 will probably see their desperate husbands bail once they have their residency approved.
