  1. So many times watching this clan I'm struck by (and depressed and angered by) how they seem completely unaware of the basic core values of Christianity -- love one another, love others as I have loved you, etc. I've never known anyone who felt that Jesus' teachings via the parables was shrouded in mystery. Yet it's like this bunch who trumpet loudly about how much they study the scriptures have either never heard them or don't think they're worthwhile enough to put in action -- unless there's a way it will draw in TV cameras and donations.
  2. Actual age appropriate teaching techniques being used with the boys that are teaching them many things beyond the direct idea of being able to retell this story. It's also very encouraging how relaxed the atmosphere is, but not altogether surprising in this home. Not something that can be faked with kids this age, it's either organic and pure or it's not. Sure wish Jill followed her on social media and absorbed some of the broader parenting and educational ideas at work here.
  3. Manners are for the way other people are to treat them. ETA: This is exactly why Kendra stands out in that crowd. It's not even as if she's putting them on because she knows she should -- it just flows right out of her naturally.
  4. Imagine how much it must burn if Josh and family are receiving a bigger slice than Jill and family -- not only based on the fact he abused his sisters, but that Jill was pushed out in front of the cameras and bright lights to keep them all Counting On the $$$.
  5. Does color blindness swim in the Duggar gene pool by any chance? Mustard, puce, russet, terracotta, olive must have been the only colors left when they bought the used Crayola boxes to save the difference.
  6. What's horrifically sad and wrong is, if Jill or anyone else Josh molested was damaged and needed assistance they got no help, no care, no concern -- not even from their own parents! That's not to say that Jill or anyone else is damaged, rather that they suffered damages.
  7. Kendra's innate sense of good manners and consideration of others really stands out in the crowd.
  8. I am curious if Jessa might begin to feel a bit differently as a mother to a daughter herself? I don't see Ben being willing to bury his head in the sand when it comes to something potentially being a risk to his children and he may take a stand in regard to Ivy being around Josh.
  9. Unless they're going to go back through old footage to document their past records of prognosticating and rank them according to who's been correct most often. The winner could become the Vegas oddsmaker of the family.
  10. To be fair it looks like JD could be called out for the same thing.
  11. Am I the only one who thought at first that they really didn't want to show Jill? It was explained she was the only one available when Jessa went into labor and initially she was heard making a comment about the smoothie but was not seen. Wondering if the single talking head will be her only appearance?
  12. I cannot understand pulling all the stops out to dress for the garden party when they might bother to put on clean clothes when attending a wedding if they don't have an assigned outfit as a member of the bridal party. I remember JD and Abbie's wedding really standing out for me as far as what they chose to wear.
  13. After growing up in a family with 19 kids, what could any other family possibly know better than her experience? Surely if it's different it's wrong and sinful.
  14. You may be right. Personally I'm waiting to see what happens if Jeremy's path to ministry develops any serious roadblocks. It would be interesting to watch him try to reinvent -- and how torn Jinger is or is not about following her headship on a different path that's further away from Ma and Pa.
  15. Sounds like an evergreen PR stunt that just might carry JB and Michelle to their twilight years.
  16. Quality of education or diligence with her studies aside, I will go out on a limb and say that Kylie is capable of using Google and Instagram on her phone and is aware of Kim's sex tape being the font from which all family wealth began flowing.
  17. If that covers their compensation for filming, when does Joy collect for her years of indentured servitude for childcare, household services, tutoring services, etc.? ETA: A household of 19 kids doesn't care for itself, you know.
  18. Maybe it fits under their philosophy of see one, do one. Widen up the umbrella and it very well could be that it covers plumbing, electrical, mechanical, midwifery, criminal acts and lawyering too. They may well feel the establishment of the LLCs creates an impermeable wall sufficient to ward off taxes and legal requirements.
  19. Several times it's seemed to me that Whitney is actually the one who prioritizes the approval of Kelly (and Gil). I'm sure a lot has to do with the fact that Zach actually has a real job with a schedule he does not dictate, but onscreen Whitney seems to very much desire to be firmly knitted into the overall Bates clan and seems to put a lot into being their sister.
  20. I found it interesting that Jessa was obviously very familiar with the speech pathologist. It looked like the Laredo party of 4 (6), might have left after the comped apps. I wondered if Joe ever got his steak?
  21. To guarantee she adequately cashes out long before the line stops selling.
  22. Jana the social director is what qualifies it as Counting On plotline, not a 19K storyline. This is oh so clearly a different show.
  23. Let's not overlook that JB's headship is in perpetuity because ... well it is because he wants it that way.
  24. Ironically the minute they showed the exterior the first thing that came to mind was the exterior of the Charlie Chaplin Studios in Hollywood, later the Muppet Studios. I wonder if that's how the rumor got started?
  25. Could not believe they included that comment. Perilously close to the truth -- don't they know we're watching a reality show here? Very aggravated the show is almost entirely migrated back to the 19K iteration in all but name. Crediting Jana with the idea for family fun time and organizing the games doesn't cover up what's really happening.
