  1. I will believe Edith's happy ending when I see it....LOL! I have a love/hate relationship when it comes to JF and it is more hate right now. Mary and Henry were blah this season and I did not expect that based on what I saw last CS. Still unclear why they brought Tom back. Here it my bit of speculation -- a lot of it already mentioned. Of course, we have not seen the last of Bertie but when we see him again, he will be engaged Adela Graham. Paths will cross. Bertie will not be able to hide his feelings toward Edith. Enter Bertie's mother and this will result in a meeting between Bertie's mother and Edith. Hopefully, Edith will find the courage to stand up to her and this will lead to Edith and Bertie's reunion. Mary's cruel, jealous act (and yes, Edith should have told Bertie by that point) did make Edith face her worst fear. I originally thought Bertie was blah but found myself rooting for their ship and still am. However, at this point, I ship Edith/Happiness. Edith seemed to find some peace at the end of the episode. Now, I enter real speculation. We know there will be a baby Bates. One life enters....one life leaves. Robert is too easy. I am going to say Cora or George. Now, there is a VERY big part of me that states JF would not kill a child, let alone air it on Christmas Day but have we seen Mary's big u-turn? The way the children we playing around the tombstones seemed ominous maybe. Then we see Sybil Cora Branson's name. Will JF bait and switch with Robert and have it be Cora? We have a big time jump in CS to allow for grieving. As for Tom, I originally thought Laura but now wondering if it will be Adela Graham? Seriously, if I weren't shipping Edith/Bertie, I would be shipping Edith/Laura. Bananas! He coaxed Sybil over the wall. Will he do it again? Still think his character got the short end but hoping we will see a glimpse of something.
  2. As usual, I have a love/hate relationship with JF. Loving the Moseley story line. Really liked the scene with Bertie and Edith on the sofa. Keep liking Bertie. Loved the puppy at the end. And as usual, loved Violet and Isobel. The car crash might have been effective if it had not been SO predictable. Mary breaking it off with Henry may have been more effective if we had more time to care about the ship. I thought MD was good but I am not just feeling their ship and I had high hopes for it. Really not sure what Tom's storyline is (if any) other than to be Mary's BFF. I liked the new Editor but she had more screen time with Edith -- not Tom. JF could have done so many different things with Tom's storyline. I can understand why his fans are frustrated. Looking forward to next week!
  3. In regard to Mary and Edith, I do wonder if it causes Mary to reflect as to why Marigold's origin was kept from her. If she winds up helping Edith in some way as a result, great. While I like both, I do root for Edith even though I do not think she will have a completely happy end. While both sisters are equally at fault, I always thought if Mary offered an olive branch, Edith would accept it. As for her relationship with Henry, it has fallen way short IMO. I had high hopes for Mary and Henry and thought Edith and Bertie's would be uninteresting. To me, the opposite has happened. For whatever reason, the development of Henry has been stagnant and Bertie continues to grow. Question is...did JF do this on purpose, is that bad of a writer or both...LOL?
  4. My first post here! This board is way more calm and respectful than other boards, which is appreciated. For the most part, I agree with the comments above. However, I always think back to Season 1 when Edith hears the conversation between Cora and Mary about her "lack of advantages." So, while I like Mary, I do root for Edith. However, they are both in their 30s and need to move beyond. But, I digress. My real reason for posting is to comment on the development of Henry and Bertie, respectively. Again, I am echoing other comments but I surprised how much Bertie has developed and how little Henry has. Admittedly not a Brary fan (had such high hopes for Tom's character), is JF is going to have Mary end up not married or are we going to find out that Henry was just after her money after they are already married? In last year's CS, I liked Henry and thought Bertie was dull. I like Edith and Bertie together a lot and find Mary and Henry so very dull. So is JF that bad of a writer -- (again, I point to Tom Branson and many other plots...LOL) or does he have something up his sleeve that we are missing?
