  1. Why can't the producers do a little research on Iowa??? I live in eastern Iowa where Waterloo is and it isn't a "county". Also the mix up between the Cedar Rapids and Cedar Falls airports makes no sense from the previous episode. Just nitpicking, but God it's annoying. We're only small time Iowa, but at least get the details right.
  2. The movie "Soul Man" came out in 1986. Pretty sure there was just a little bit of blackface in that.
  3. I hope you're right. Reggie Love was a scumbag and deserved to be taken out. I've been waiting for Leon to kick a pimp's ass sooner than later.
  4. I'm totally on Luisa's side in wanting her "own" child with Cole. The cold hard fact is stepparents are not the same as "real" parents. If Cole were to drop dead in the next episode, Luisa would have no legal right to ever see Joanie again. Alison could pack her up and move where ever she like and Luisa would be a distant memory to Joanie. Wanting to make all kids in a family the same is a great sentiment, but in reality it's not true.
  5. I am really bummed that Cole turned out to be a cheater too. Why can't they have one character that lives up to their word on this show? Another poster asked if a single mistake should "define" who we are? I say no. However, in the case of Alison and Noah it's not an isolated "mistake", it's a series of major fuck ups that snowball together and make up their character or should I say lack of character. We are all entitled to make some bad decisions during the course of our lifetimes, but when it becomes a constant trend it's time to call a spade a spade.
  6. My understanding was the offers for Ricky were all for 3 years, with New Orleans being a 30 mil offer, Miami 27 mil and LA for 36 mil. Charles had convinced Ricky to stay in Miami for the 9 million per year and then the call from LA for 12 million per year came in and he started to back track. I missed what happened to the Miami offer? And now we have the Patriot receivers coming to Ricky working him out and then offering a super low ball offer of 1.5 million.
  7. I believe she was referring to the guy that was with Richie and helped dispose of Buck Roger (Dice). Is his name Joe Corzo? He was the one who is now planning to blackmail Richie over the murder.

    S01.E01: Pilot

Most of these shows need a little time to find their stride. I was reasonably entertained by the pilot episode and will continue to watch. Hopefully the pilot was a chance to introduce most of the characters and now they can concentrate on fewer story lines in future episodes. Others have mentioned needing a few looks to identify Ray Romano, he was easy for me. However, seeing "Vinnie Delpino" (from Doogie Howser) as an old dude with facial hair took me a little while. Good to see he's still getting work. Maybe they can bring NPH in for a cameo role, that'd be fun.
  9. For me it isn't "just" that he had an affair, it's the post affair behavior that I judge Noah on. Everyone is entitled to make a mistake or two, but when they don't learn from those mistakes or they simply blame someone else, I begin to view them negatively. Noah and Alison could have handled their marriages ending without all of the lies and selfish behavior. Noah had 4 kids that were caught in the middle and he barely cared at all how this would affect them, not to mention how devastating it was for Helen. His complete lack of empathy for those he supposedly loved is why I wish misery on Noah.
  10. Some guys wouldn't give it a second thought, but could Cole just ignore the possibility that his ex-wife with whom he lost his only other child, might have had his daughter? That just seems too far out of the realm of reality. Especially when he should remember Scotty showing up on the deck that night he and Alison spent at the beach house. Looking at Scotty while driving him to rehab, Cole should have slapped his forehead, and gone, "of course, Scotty thinks I'm Joanie's father!". Noah is so wrapped up with himself that I agree he would never come to the conclusion someone else might be Joanie's dad. Even though Alison admitted to cheating on him in the past. Noah's a dork.
  11. I agree, how could Cole not put the pieces together and think "maybe, I'm the daddy"? Especially after what Scotty said about blowing up his world, Cole has not been shown as an idiot. Therefore, I'm going out on a limb here. I don't recall actually seeing Cole "pour the coals" (little play on words) to Alison in that scene at the beach house. Is it possible that they only kissed and cuddled without going through with sex? Maybe, that night Scotty showed up on the deck he only assumed Cole and Alison had sex. That would explain why neither Alison or Cole has mentioned the possibility of Cole being Joanie's dad. They've hinted at Alison contemplating it, but it's never been spoken, only sideways looks. I realize this would be a totally fucked way the writers could take this situation, but I wouldn't put anything past them at this point.
  12. I wish I could agree with this, but I have had first hand experience with a cheating spouse who reverted back to a young "party girl", in other words a female Noah. As I'm about 4 years out of my divorce I get to watch Noah's actions and relive many of the lies and formerly out of character behavior. Way too many similarities for me to not be sucked in by this show. I know, it sounds far fetched that someone could actually act like Noah in real life, but it does happen. In fact, as I read many of these posts I think I can almost guess who the divorced people are by their reactions to the main characters. If you defend Helen and Cole you were likely the "dumpee" and if you can find good in Noah and Alison you were likely the "dumper". Those who are neither get to just sit back and enjoy the carnage.
  13. I've decided to go with the 2 - L version of her name due to it being shown on the actual show. It would be funny if they would have Alison/Allison make a comment regarding this topic to clear it up once and for all. However, I would have thought if it was spelled wrong in the book dedication she would have mentioned it in her Thanksgiving dinner rant. I guess I'm giving the Doc a little more leeway in his handling of the worried mom. He was very sweet and understanding on the phone with her and reassured her everything would be fine. And really, the mom didn't know a hospital doesn't just shut down when the power goes out??? I've worked in a field where people get emotional and worked up, asking the same questions over and over and it does get frustrating to have to patronize them. So, I can see him venting a little when getting off the phone, but it would have made more sense to do so with a co-worker or a spouse, not with a woman you've met twice. I'm not ready to write him off as a bad dude yet.
  14. I remember seeing "Descent" on the tablet of the woman stepping on the treadmill next to Noah in the gym. Not sure if she was the same woman in the lobby but I'm sure that the gym lady had Noah's book, he even got a little smile on his face because of it.
  15. There was one positive about Noah in his POV. He actually had a flash of empathy for Helen when he changed his reading from "sexy time" with Allison to describing the loss of his wife and family home. I am choosing to believe he did this out of concern for Helen and not to make things easier on him. It had to be in the back of his mind that sexy talk might turn on one of the "hotties" in the audience. So, now I think the score for Noah is 1 - non-selfish vs. 378 - selfish.
